  2. Looks like the Turtles are experiencing an overdue price spike. -J.
  3. Nice ! Really looks great with that yellow label. -J.
  4. Yeah. And as I said in my first post here, there is no significance to having a star stamp in the absence of an insert regardless of who put it there or when. -J.
  5. There's been a recent spate of activity with multiple sales of the Dirty Dozen, in addition to the sake of the raw copy of the ASM 678 VenoMJ for $2500 that will likely lead to some re-shuffling upon the next update. A raw Siege 3 for $1888: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Siege-3-J-Scott-Campbell-Deadpool-variant-NM-KEY-RARE-HTF-VHTF/282709629932?hash=item41d2ce9bec:g:JgsAAOSw6AlZyx2n A 9.8 Edge of Spider-verse 2 sold for $2k: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item=142547537747&item_hash4=54f70731&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&_pgn=1&rc=nt&_trksid=p3750801.m370.h1613&rmvSB=true And of course a 9.6 ASM 667 Dell'otto went for $8k: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item=202103806432&item_hash4=787697f0&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&_pgn=1&rc=nt&_trksid=p3750801.m370.h1613&rmvSB=true -J.
  6. Funny, with nearly 40,000 posts under your belt I was thinking the same about you. And you may want to make a note that I am a frequent contributor in that earlier linked thread about the military inserts in the Bronze section. Next time maybe try reading before yapping. So tell you what sport, why don't you explain to us all how a star stamp on a comic book automatically means it was sold at or near a military base (as opposed to books with the military insert that we know were, not all of which will have a star stamp), how that could ever be proven, and what would stop somebody from simply buying a star stamp and going to town on a bunch of vintage books tomorrow if that's all it took? Yeah, I thought so. -J.
  7. I don't believe there is any significance to the star stamps at all in the absence of the inserts, and there is no reason to believe they were sold at or near a military base just because they have star stamps. It could just be some kid messing around with his books. -J.
  8. NDS books came before MJI and they can also have the star stamps if sold overseas. Alas, I believe your inserts have simply been removed. -J. **Correction, these are actually not insert books at all. Just books with star stamps on the covers.
  9. The star stamp usually means they were sold on a military base, probably even at an overseas one. The cashiers would typically stamp them as proof the items were paid for. Unfortunately it looks like somebody has already pulled yours out- something that we usually done to books with those inserts as they made the book themselves cumbersome to read (and the earlier books with the national diamond inserts included sexy lingerie ads, in which case the comic was probably the thing that was in the way ). -J.
  10. That slab was a boardie slab. Wowithurts. He originally bought the book in Chicago when it first came out and slabbed it a couple years ago and sold it on eBay to the seller who just sold it now. -J.
  11. Sold for $8k. http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item=202103806432&item_hash4=787697f0&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&_pgn=1&rc=nt&_trksid=p3750801.m370.h1613&rmvSB=true&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-53200-19255-0%2F1%3Fff3%3D4%26campid%3D5335849815%26toolid%3D10034%26customid%3DeBay-US_go-url_-76d1aaf11675--www.watchcount.com-ilu.ihist.202103806432.-_wcc%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Foffer.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252FeBayISAPI.dll%253FViewBidsLogin%2526item%253D202103806432%2526item_hash4%253D787697f0%2526LH_Complete%253D1%2526LH_BIN%253D1%2526_pgn%253D1%2526rc%253Dnt%2526_trksid%253Dp3750801.m370.h1613%26srcrot%3D711-53200-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1361465674369 -J.
  12. At that grade level the tape isn't helping anything and is an allowable defect either way. Detached covers are allowed up to a 4.0 I believe. -J.
  13. It's definitely on the more highly stylized side. I do think the cover to Venom 31 (first app. Andrea Benton, before she gets the symbiote) is a cooler cover. Kind of have to give them a some credit for trying something a little different with the 38 though. Not many copies of either on the census. I think you're right about the print runs. -J.
  14. I severely overpaid for my hulk 1, 5.5 and 181, 9.6 in August, 2013, and still own them today (I never sell my books). Some of the best money I've ever overspent. -J.
  15. I would arribute that to the less than perfect printing/cutting techniques of the era. -J.
  16. On the census now- Marvel Comics 1, 0.5- 4 Superman 1, 0.5- 7 Batman 1, 0.5- 11 Captain America Comics 1, 0.5- 2 My predictions for this topic barring any additional economic crash and burns: Superman 1 in 5-7 years Captain America Comics 1 in ~10 years Marvel Comics 1- Never (not enough demand) Batman 1- Never (way too many) -J.
  17. Some solid tips in here. What do you think of Venom 38 (first appearance of the symbiote Mania)? Looks to be selling briskly and a solid $20 book in high grade raw now. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with that symbiote reportedly going to Lee Price and becoming "Maniac". -J.
  18. Dammit I knew I shouldn't have waited on this. -J.
  19. Kind of glad it's a retailer ratio this time. -J.
  20. I believe he said they all averaged about 3.0-4.0 with many likely restored. -J.
  21. If I'm not mistaken this ($2500) ties the most ever paid for a raw copy of a modern variant, regardless of condition: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-678-Mary-Jane-Venom-Suit-Variant-Original/132383864395?hash=item1ed2b1764b:g:CLAAAOSwySlZ-nXq&redirect=mobile -J.
