  1. Eddie Brock is about to get the symbiote back and Marvel is returning to legacy numbering. I suspect this book is about to surge again, if it wasn't surging already. A copy already was just popped at $1495 this afternoon. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-man-300-CGC-9-8-White-Marvel-1988-1st-full-appearance-Venom-/2spam191224?hash=item2ef142eef8:g:-HoAAOSwhOVXeOeb -J.
  2. Yes. A link to this thread is one of the things that I forwarded to him early yesterday morning. -J.
  3. I reported the sale to GPA as a likely frauded up sale early yesterday, with the appropriate links as evidence, and they have now removed it from their sales records. -J.
  4. Looks like his Winter Soldier #1 is picking up steam again too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Winter-Soldier-Variant-1-Gabriele-DellOtto-NM-To-NM-Marvel-/222397322311?hash=item33c7e9d447:g:6rsAAOSw4DJYk5gd Still one of my favourite covers by him. -J.
  5. This really is a stunning piece of art. Dell'otto is on a roll lately (I also like his recent ASM #24, 1:25). So what's the "art change" on the CBCS version going to be? Deadpool flashing "Westside" in the background?
  6. Congrats on a still great haul. As for the pressing, I find that paying a little extra for the 9.8 screen along with the pressing has really paid off quite well in the long run. -J.
  7. Any theories on why X-23 #4 (2010) Djurdjevic looks to be heating up? Is there something particularly relevant about it other than the fact that it's a super low print run X 23 variant with Wolverine on the cover? -J.
  8. His X-23 #1 has heated back up again. Two 9.6's sold for $1000 and a 9.8 sold for $1750 all in the last two weeks. -J.
  9. That is a nice set. Love the way his Thanos looks on there. -J.
  10. I whispered in your ear about this one a year ago. Did you listen? -J. Getting steamy in here... Have you seen the cover ? -J.
  11. I think an over saturation of McFarlane art is the most obvious and likely answer. -J.
  12. I whispered in your ear about this one a year ago. Did you listen? -J.
  13. It's the life cycle of movie or TV related over hyped books which are actually common in all grades across the board. And it's a life cycle that we have seen rinsed and repeated on a countless number of these types of books, without any notable exceptions at all. The real question is, why do you believe it will be any different for IM 55? ...It also has first Drax of GotG fame to continue to push it..... -J.
  14. You are correct. He signed just 90 copies of the ASM 700 Ditko there, specific for that occasion, that are sequentially numbered by CGC, plus another 9 copies or so that were also signed and graded that day as courtesy copies given out to a few attendees but are not numbered sequentially. I've read a Superior Spider-Man animated movie is in the works. Maybe that's the reason behind the general price surge. -J.
  15. That isn't quite right. Not an apples to apples. Is it? Ditko Variant 9.8 - 12 month: Universal - $875 SS- $1,013 - 1,150 depending on sigs SS 90 BDay - $2,504 1) This list isn't based on "12 Month Averages". 2) While the 90th may be a "variant" of the variant, it's no different than including "sketch" versions of variants of books. 3) The book would have made the list anyway, based on the totality of strength of sales from the most recent period of review. The book heated up again. It's just that simple. -J.
  16. The picture I used was of the 90th variant of the book. The book was strong by other metrics as well, not just for the 90th version, that I also mentioned in the write up. Again I said, I consider "all" label types for the books, with the most weight given to 9.8 sales. Hence why it easily makes the list. -J. The 90th is the only one that is going over $1k though. You have the sales of over $2k as why the book itself is on the list. "All Label Types in a 9.8" The 90th version raises the averages, but it would have made the list anyway without it (a blue label also just sold mid January '17 for $1218). -J. .
  17. That's a regular Stan Lee SS copy. -J. So we're saying that because the book was signed on Stan's 90th birthday it gets a 150% or $1500 boost in value? That's the only one well over $1k and it has consistent sales. Yes, plenty of sales for the 90th book. It's not consistent for the other SS books. Your writeup concludes that the book in general is getting those values. The picture I used was of the 90th variant of the book. The book was strong by other metrics as well, not just for the 90th version, that I also mentioned in the write up. Again I said, I consider "all" label types for the books, with the most weight given to 9.8 sales. Hence why it easily makes the list. -J.
  18. That's a regular Stan Lee SS copy. -J. So we're saying that because the book was signed on Stan's 90th birthday it gets a 150% or $1500 boost in value? That's what the data is saying. -J. Most people looking at this data set would suggest you need a larger sample size. Giving the fact you don't have it, most would be hesitant to state much at all from it - some would even call it an anomaly until further data backed it up. That's why GPA and their ilk is a good thing, and why I like to see more data in public forums instead of listed as private transactions. There's plenty of historical data for that variant on GPA. And again, this update is based on the most recent sales. -J.
  19. That's a regular Stan Lee SS copy. -J. So we're saying that because the book was signed on Stan's 90th birthday it gets a 150% or $1500 boost in value? That's what the data is saying. -J.
  20. I consider "all" label types including SS books with a large enough sample of sales to be counted. -J.
  21. Quote sourced from this post There's a whole lot more in that analysis than whether or not feedback was left. And since I know you like to doubt the sales of these books even when the seller himself comes on the boards and tells you it closed, I'll make this easy for you: 1) The ASM 700 copy sale you linked above is not like the other two copies that got the book on the list (although I still factored it in). 2) This list is an aggregate of sales with the most weight given to the most recent 9.8 sales. (Read the first post in the thread for a reminder of the methodology.) 3) Sorry, I don't have the time to audit every sale of every book featured. That's not the purpose of this list. However I usually don't rely on single high sales as those could be outliers (unless the book is rarely sold publicly, like the Spawn book or Dell'otto 667), in which I have no choice but to use what data I do have. 4) No sales aggregate reporting site that I use or know of uses whether or not feedback was left on ebay as the sole determining factor of whether or not a sale was "real" in order to report it. 5) I usually wait at least a couple of weeks to see if an item is re-listed before I decide to "count" it. A re-listing of an item is the only way to "know" whether or not the first sale didn't go through. Anything other than that is pure speculation. Hope that clears things up again for ya. -J.
  22. Feedback being left or not is not a persuasive argument for whether or not a sale closed. Here's the other sale though : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-700-CGC-9-8-1-200-Ditko-Variant-/172417991625?hash=item2824e9c3c9:g:PxgAAOSwB09YE7CG -J.
  23. Happy Birthday Ben thank you Happy birthday buddy!! Enjoy your day! Happy birthday. -J.
  24. This is definitely one of those covers that has a line down the middle - you either love it or hate it. Nice pickup on that variant of the variant Most clearly love it. For good reason. -J. "Most"? Most of what? Nothing to back this up. You mean "other" than the price? Come on bro. -J.
