  1. Stop. Please. I kinda agree with him. Star Wars did have only one good movie. It was "Return of the Jedi." But, it did have three great movies (Episodes IV,V & VII,) two so-so ones and one turkey. My point exactly. The three "great ones" all told the identical story. -J.
  2. No they wouldn't....Big 3 networks ratings leaders for middle season episodes are running double the numbers TWD is for live viewership. Wrong. WD has one of the highest demo ratings of all prime time shows on television. And maybe if Star Wars can stop telling the same story over and over it will be interesting again. -J. How about we look at Nielsen ratings.? The #2 Broadcast network show for the week of 11/21 (most recent released) was 60 minutes. Sunday night show...a 10.2 share, which equals 17,265,000 viewers. The #2 Cable show for the week of 11/21 was The Walking Dead. Sunday night show....a 5.4 share, which equals 10,403,000 viewers. In stiff competition it finished one spot ahead of the Hallmark Channel original movie Journey Back To Christmas A 5.4 share doesn't even crack the top 10 for the week on Broadcast TV. In fact it falls more than 20% behind the 10th spot. Before you jump to "WRONG" you might want to actually read what ratings mean instead of accepting the very limited and very narrowly focused analysis needed to put TWD on top (viewers of a certain age, with repeated viewings, etc etc). It might help you from becoming all that you abhor. Sure okay you're right . No major broadcast network would want a 7 year old show that still pulls a 5.4. -J.

  4. Ummm....where are you getting this information from? The comic itself is already going on 14 years old. The spin-off did not "fail". As mentioned in my prior post, it was just renewed for a Season 3. When the main show ends, get ready for more possible spinoffs, feature films, reboots, reunions, etc. Star Wars has had exactly one good movie out of 7, and still seems to be doing fine as a franchise as well. Walking Dead ain't going anywhere. Get used to it. -J.
  5. Some ridiculous comments in here. Not surprising, though, as its been like that since this thread was originally started back in 2012. Even the Big 3 networks would kill to have the ratings this show gets, even in an "off year". Show ain't going anywhere anytime soon. It's a franchised multi-media institution now. Get used to it. Neither are the values on the key books that inspired the show (and its spinoff, which was also renewed for Season 3). -J.
  6. Comparing the art of Liefield and Dell'otto in any way shape or form is preposterous, but I do agree that Liefield is not the complete hack that many make him out to be either. -J.
  7. Exactly. This is a board for discussing comic books. That would by extension include comic book artists. Threads and articles don't "drive up prices" of books. That is a myth and it needs to be put to bed. And if anyone wants to test the theory, start a "Rob Liefield Appreciation Thread" and let's see what that does for his books. -J.
  8. The book fell 20% in 2 months, that a yearly loss rate of -120%. A tiny increase in raw sales from cBSi lemmings following that PUMP article doesnt mean the book is heating up. Define heating up, and then tell me what triggered this book to heat up. Of course you will ignore everything I just said, but if this is a heating up on ebay thread, people should be able to discuss whether something is heating up or not. The dump will come if the pump is successful. As for Tec880, i didnt try to talk the book down, I pointed to the fact that it was selling for the same price as last spring, which it was. This will not be true no matter how many times you say it. And UPDATE: 11:30PM: Still "0" copies of the hot book Superior Carnage 1 variant being "dumped" on ebay. This utter lack of inventory is sure to drive prices even higher the next time one does pop up.
  9. no one is disputing the rarity. There are tons of rare books, Bedlam RRP is a rare book. The supply side isnt what is being shilled, its the demand that is being shilled. The problem is, they are creating fake demand and exploiting it. Obviously, once the fake demand exists, legitimate people will sell into it. Saying that Carnage is heating up is BS though. The book in 9.8, a few days ago sold for NEGATIVE 20% of the most recent sale at that time. That is a book going down, not up. Writing an article and posting in this thead is manufactured hype, pushing a falling book up. That is shilling, and its what cBSi is doing. Except for the past week it has heated up. There have been no 9.8 sales since the book has heated up so we don't know what the price of one of those would be now. Suggesting otherwise is delusional. Just like it was when you tried to down talk the Tec 880. UPDATE: 7:35PM Still waiting for the ebay "dumping" portion of the program to begin.. -J.
  10. CGC 9.8 Sep. 24,2016 => $134.95 USD CGC 9.8 Nov. 20,2016 => $110.00 USD Has this changed? No. Facts dont care about feelings or opinions, they just are. cBSi and this thread, can't change those sales. A thread about heating up books, should be about heating up books. 2x 9.8 sales in three months=terrible, with the more recent one 20% lower than the last=horrendous, this book does not belong in a heating up thread. Period. What happened in September is irrelevant. For the purposes of "heating up", (i.e., present tense), over the past week raw copies have indeed "heated up" (multiple sales at escalating prices). UPDATE: 6:22PM: Still no copies on ebay. Somebody better contact CBSI and tell them they're still not doing this right. -J.
  11. UPDATE: 6:00PM: Just checked ebay for the "dumping" part of this grand scheme... Still "0" copies of the Superior Carnage 1 variant listed. Maybe it, like the Tec 880, just really are hot after all. -J.
  12. I don't read their site all the time but I do appreciate the time that it is put into it. I have been alerted to a few cool books by that site, that I ended up buying because I like them. As to that article that you linked that included the Superior Carnage 1 variant (among many others), having now read it, I did not see any "pumping" there at all. If anything, the point of the article is to tell symbiote fans (I am one) to grab the book before it heats up. If buyers (like me) read that, see the book, like it (and it is as bad-azz rendition of Carnage) and buy it, they aren't "lemmings", and as far as I'm concerned, at that point the site has done exactly the kind of thing I would want a comic book site to do-introduce me to some cool new books. Besides, Superior Carnage 1 has always been relatively scarce on the market. I would be surprised if suddenly 10 or even 5 copies suddenly showed up on ebay (right now, there are none, there must be a glitch in the Matrix at the moment). But I will certainly keep an eye out now, if for no other reason than to see if there's an iota of merit to any of your allegations. -J.
  13. 2x 9.8 CGC sales on ebay, Sept 24 & Nov 20. November 20th, 18.5% decline from September.... I didn't even see that. But if a book is "heating up" (again, the point of the thread , right? right??) it should be no surprise if other people notice it (even if it's before us). Although it's nice to know I would have good instincts if I were to ever try to sell a comic book. -J.

  15. Speaking of Klyntar-associated variants heating up..... Superior Carnage #1 Checcetto has been seeing upward movement all week as has the #2 Garres variant (personally prefer the nastiness of the #1 though). -J.
  16. There's a few on Heritage and the latest is around the same price: $8,663.75 CGC 9.6 (includes Buyer's Premium) - November 2016 $7,767.50 CGC 9.6 (includes Buyer's Premium) - August 2016 $6,273.75 CGC 9.6 (includes Buyer's Premium) - May 2016 A 9.8 sold for $11,352.50 also this month on Heritage. That's the one ! Thank you very much. -J.
  17. By selling when he did he freed up money that could be used to buy more inventory, which gave him the opportunity to sell more books, which gave him the opportunity to see far more profit than he would by sitting on the book for 6 months to make an extra 50 bucks. To say nothing of the fact that it was a thing to say to begin with. And why is that ? A guy goes on and and on and on expressing sour grapes about (yet another) book he does not own, and whines about what it sells for , and I'm NOT supposed to call it like I see it ? Give me a break, Snowflake. -J. Its supposed to be a discussion board. By inserting the insult it becomes more then that. I am not sure why you cant see that, but that might require some reflection. Okay well it wasn't written intended as an "insult" (though I know seller's remorse can be a thing, why do you think I never sell?). Just like I don't actually believe he is losing any sleep over the extra $80 he didn't make on the book by selling it earlier this year. Geezuz can't a guy mention a "book that's heating up" around here without getting his azz handed to him anymore ? No wonder this thread has been dead lately. -J. I see your point My apologies if I overreacted some. -J. You shouldnt use a term like snowflake, when you are being triggered by someone saying anything that disagrees with your opinion. All I tried to point out was that the price for a 9.8 is basically unchanged after 6 months. I am not bothered at all that I sold that book, It was a huge return on an at cover book that I have 0 interest in owning. Maybe it is heating up, but not at 9.8, not yet. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Although based on the other responses, you are the only one who has it. -J

  22. "It's cool and it's rare". This may be the most primal explanation of "value" of nearly any collectible. Another one might be "it will look good in my man-cave/garage". Like any other rare discretionary or luxury purchase item with a lot of notoriety it's a trophy piece. -J.
  23. I've blinked my eyes at what many books have sold for, in every Age. Without getting into specifics, let's just say that some books just catch fire and don't look back. If you were ever able to figure out "why this book" or "why that book" you would probably be better served playing the stock market instead of buying comic books. But Is this one of those books? For the last five years, yes. Is this the norm? No. The book is an outlier among just a handful of others that have done this. Can it continue ? For clues, see the 12 year old Bats 608RRP thread. -J.
  24. Because people want to know if someone is dumb enough to get stuck with a hot potato. I refer you to "Page 1" of this thread to be reminded what the other wrong people have said before you. (And to see how well the guy who paid $1000 for one four years ago would have done today if he kept his copy.) -J. Totally agree - that was a 'ground floor' or 'close' discussion. This isn't that discussion any longer. Really ? Because the conversation looks very similar to me , with some people crying about that sales price even then (kind of like how they cried about the Bats 608RRP 12 years ago). Except now, the book is nearly five years old and famous, having been homaged at least three times , reprinted and turned into a poster. It also doesn't hurt that Venom is a hot character (again) right now, and the book itself was a rare 1:50 when ASM was in a low sales period. Oh and that dark brown cover only yielding 29, 9.8's (just 21 blue) out of 123 submissions is probably a factor too. Now that I think about it, $7500 might be a bargain. -J. The bolded part will be a likely factor to help this issue lose steam as many collectors are satisfied with just that. Pump it all you like because you may be vested in it but I wouldn't want to be part of the small group of like-minded people as yourself who will grow bored passing it around to each and move onto the next shiny object, scrambling for a chair once the music stops. Actually , that probably only helps stoke demand as many, if not most collectors like to have the original or first print of something. Those reprints and homages are merely a reflection of the book's fame not a replacement for it. And I don't care what the book is "worth", I have one copy that I acquired many years ago and I have never sold or traded any comic book in my life. But this is essentially an appreciation thread for the book, so if you don't like the book or what it sells for, or talking about it, no one is forcing you to read the thread or to participate.
