  1. I am enthusiastic about the book, it's hideously overpriced without just cause, due to the CGC boards. I'd like to own more, but I can't because of a false narrative. The Dell'Otto is 1:50 The Sketch is 1:100 Sketch was and remains MUCH harder to get, I know cause I bought them at the time, collecting the series as it came out. The Sketch is on ebay right now for $50... That book is MUCH rarer, and harder to find, but doesnt have hype, so its properly priced. There are VF/NM Dell'Otto's on ebay for $250+ As Jeff said, respond to the substance. Is the Winter Soldier Dell'Otto over priced. Are people being unable to enjoy and own the book due to hype, distortions, and a false narrative? I OWN one, bought when it was new, in 9.8+. As an owner of the book, I think its price is very distorted. I don't know what "hype" you're talking about. Maybe people are willing to pay more for the Dell'otto simply because the art is better. Unfortunately, there are no comic book pricing police to complain to when a book sells for more than what you think it should, and doing so in an artist's appreciation thread shows a fundamental lack of decorum IMO. -J.
  2. Again , when you voluntarily, knowingly, and repeatedly go into an artist's (or book's) "appreciation thread" and then whine about people talking about his books, they're availability at any given time, what they selling for , etc., you demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of not only that thread , but perhaps these boards in general. Contrary to your evidently cynical view of everything, some of us are indeed just collectors, don't have anything to sell, and are simply enthusiastic owners and participants in the hobby. Not all of us are dealers (even if most of us seem to be), and at the end of the day, nobody is forcing your reading or participation in any of these threads. -J.

It's a metaphor, and its definitely on-topic No, it's an ad hominem personal swipe. If that's the kind of thing you and your friend like to engage in , kindly remember the title of this thread and take it to a PM. Thanks again. -J.

  5. He ignores everything that doesn't agree with him. No worries. Thanks for the backup. No. But I do disagree with most if not all of what you say. Frankly I find the vast majority of your posts to be vapid and entirely devoid of substance. I find you needlessly snarky and sarcastic, neither funny nor engaging and this is why I have never directly engaged you. I would appreciate it if you would afford me the same courtesy going forward. Good day. -J.
  6. None taken buddy. I have on two occasions, the Pink HQ and the Black Panther. I did however make $500 by selling my NYX #3 earlier this year so that wipes out the loss on the HQ book. But how could I know that another Black Panther would come up for sale a week later after I bought my mine? Sucks but it is what it is. All my other buys are at value or better, got my Saga #1 for just under a grand and that's taken off, I paid a grand for my ASM 678 which is now triple that. Paid 5K for my D'O 667 and that's worth buckets more than that. Even my Bats 608 is sitting at a few hundred profit. Granted these will change, but hopefully in the right direction You win some, you lose some, I knew going in that it'd be riskier on these MA books, but overall I think I've done well, the BP is the one mistake, but I love the book so I'm okay with it. I wouldn't recommend many people do what I do, go for the safer, older books! I'm working my way backward now, mostly moving onto CA books now. Jerome As long as you're buying what you like, and you enjoy owning what you buy, you never really lose. From the looks of your reconstituted sig line, the majority of the books you have now have a solid and consistent track record of value and demand, so you'll do fine in the long run either way. And you may actually be a little low on your value estimates of your ASM 678, Saga 1 RRP and Bats 608. -J. Actually if a part of your enjoyment/satisfaction of ownership is derived from knowing you that you bought a valuable book well below market value, then you can actually lose, from both a financial and ownership satisfaction perspective. I refer you back to the bolded portion of my original post. -J. I refer you back to the bolded portion of his response. I see you're missing the point (as usual). That's fine. Thanks for playing anyway. -J.

  8. not even close. Batman 1 in 5.0 would be about 180-200k and tec 31 in 5.0 about 125... as an example. Too 10 ga books still much the same (this list in no particular order) Action 1 Tec27 Superman 1 Batman 1 Cap 1 Marvel 1 Action 7 Tec 31 Last 2 there are bunch of potential candidates but I like all star 8 and whiz 2(1) moving forward Gator, I'm wondering where you would rank Pep 22 and Archie 1 (as well as Flash Comics 1 and All American 16). Are none of those even close to "Top 10" worthy? -J. the Pep 22 would be one of those "potential" candidates... books like archie 1, flash 1 and aa 16 and adv 40 and mf 52, would be top 20 somewhere, I suspect Thank you for the rundown. -J.

  11. Wise man! Although I have no doubt that you, like all the other lucky few who've had a chance to own the book, will be quite happy doing so both from an aesthetic and financial standpoint in the short and long term alike. 12. It's been a good week for you I see. I will have to update the ASM 667 Club Thread now. -J.
  13. Awesome pick up man. Big time congrats. -J.
  14. No one is forcing you (or anyone else) to read, post, or buy. When you enter a thread about a specific book, people will probably be taking about it. Back on point, slabs of the Mexican reprint are starting to hit and are going for decent amounts themselves: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDERMAN-1-Joe-Quinones-La-Mole-MARY-JANE-VENOM-678-CGC-9-6-/252599592198?hash=item3ad01be506:g:7jwAAOSwal5YC9II -J.

  16. We may have had our disagreements in the past but I must say that is a very nice book. Congrats! -J.
  17. ~1500 -J. Got one on Feebay with signature and sketch. Very cool book. -J.
  18. Indeed. Although I think the winner of the 29 will be disappointed if CGC picks up on the trim when he goes for blue. +1 I figured that was the idea as well based on the price laid out for that. -J.
  19. Nice results on the pre-Robins in the HA auction today. Particularly the 2.0, #28 ($16.7k), the restored 1.5, #29 ($22.5k) and the 1.5, #33 ($15.5k). -J.
  20. I just snagged a 4.0 for a nice price based on GPA. Wasn't looking for it but couldn't let a copy go for that cheap and not to me Was that one that was sold on the Boards? If so, that was a nice looking copy. Congrats. -J.
  21. +1 Basically. This may represent another shift in the variant market. I am personally not a fan of convention/store or brand exclusives so hopefully it isn't a lasting trend. -J.
  22. Not really, as this demand for variants marked an unforseen shift in the hobby. On the other hand your prognostication for Harley Quinn and BA 12 was most definitely Hi RMA. -J.
  23. Your hair splitting aside , the analysis is accurate so you can save your juvenile for something else. -J.
  24. That's one book this year (Venom 1). Check dealer order sheets- mostly 1:10's, 15's, maybe a few 25's. Almost no 50's or higher. The incentives are more based on past order thresholds with dealers being able to order however many variants they want. 2014 was basically the last year of the higher ratio variants being offered. Evidently Marvel doesn't want to spring for the talent to do those covers anymore, hence why the bigger names are doing more and more store exclusives. Had a nice talk with an LCS about it recently. Interesting stuff. -J. One book, huh? Champions #1 just came out at 328k distribution. That 1:1000 isn't looking that "rare" anymore. How about the Deadpool Back in Black 1:50 and 1:100's in the last month? Uh-huh. That's three books. All #1's. Either you're missing the point or you are ignoring it. I didn't say Marvel isn't releasing any. I said they have scaled it way back, and incentives are based more on past orders now than before and lower ratios. Either prove me wrong or say I'm lying, but don't split hairs, if you know what I am reporting is essentially true. Find better things to do with your time. -J. Yes, but you stated it was one book. I did just prove you wrong, did I not? No, you split hairs. -J.
