  1. Interesting analysis. Some of this information is based on very stale cents copies sales info though. This Heritage auction seemed to produce a few favourable results but for the most part I'm still seeing a pence to cents ratio in the 60% range on average (which is still up slightly from the 55% range from years past). -J.
  2. I'm glad to hear that some boardies are loving it. Meanwhile, the RT score has dropped to 27%, matching BvS. By any measure, it's another critical disaster (at least) for DC and Warner, and I would have to imagine that even the die-hards' patience would have to be tested by these kinds of offerings at some point. -J.
  3. 33% Rotten Tomatoes ?? Ugh, no thanks. Pass. They never released a trailer that made the movie look particularly good anyway. -J.
  4. No plot or villain but a must see.... -J.
  5. He probably figures he got "close enough" by avoiding the ebay and paypal fees. -J.
  6. Had that auction gone to term I think it would have approached if not gotten to $5k. -J.
  7. X-23 #1 seems to have kicked up to another level. $750 and $832 for raw copies over the last two days: http://item.ebay.co.uk/112059275701?item_hash4=42cae375&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&LH_BO=1&_ipg=200&_pgn=1&rc=nt&rmvSB=true http://www.ebay.com/itm/112069774241?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT -J.
  8. Just like those"rare" modern variants? I would much rather have a WWBN 32, than a Del Otto variant. Apples and oranges. Bringing up a modern variant with deliberately manufactured rarity to rationalize the prices being paid for a book that never was intended to be, nor is "rare" is a non-sequitur. -J.
  9. From the last trailer, I think critics are going to get that it's not going to take itself as seriously like B v S. That might help it in a tongue-in-cheek way like Con Air as just an excuse to go to the movies to watch stuff blow up... big. I agree they did attempt a course correction midstream with the re-shoots to better mesh with the original trailer. The question is whether they successfully integrated the new content to effectively change the tone, or did they create a disjointed mess. My initial feeling was that the actors were running around as if they were making the second coming of Citizen Kane (I'm looking at you, Leto). If they've managed to lighten that load a bit (without turning it into a Will Smith one-liner joke fest) then I will breathe easier. I still think the critics are going to pan it though, no matter what. Whether or not it is "critic proof" like Transformers remains to be seen as well. -J.
  10. Is anybody really expecting the critics to like this movie ? I'm expecting a Rotten Tomatoes score of around 40% when the reviews finally do start hitting. -J.
  11. Uhhhhh....this book is no rarer in "high grade" than any other BA book from the period. The difference is, many of the real keys from the period have been selling for thousands in slabbed high grade for nearly 20 years. And this book has been speculated heavy on for all of the last 20 months based on pretty much just the non-stop (and already debunked) rumour of a Netflix show that will likely never come. And anyone paying exorbitant prices for this book based on "what the census looks like now" is playing a fool's game that's been played and lost many times before (even with Hulk 181). Nothing in the Bronze Age is "rare", "tough to find 'in grade'" etc. Unless you're talking about price variant or NDS/MJ insert copies. Period. -J.
  12. The last raw copy of an X 23 #1 just sold for $750. That 9.8 copy will blow past $1200 (assuming he actually lets that auction finish). -J.
  13. I know it's ebay, and all but regardless of the item in question , I think ending an auction early is a pretty chicken mess thing to do to the participants in your auction and it shouldn't be allowed (even if it's ultimately to the seller's own detriment as it obviously was here). -J.
  14. I wasn't the buyer, but it sold for a little over $4k... He's obviously happy with what he got out of it, but, even accounting for the eBay/PayPal vig that he didn't have to pay, he likely left some on the table.... -J.
  15. Thank you Not a problem! It's weird, even now when I search for it, or the seller it still doesn't show up. I lose at interneting. He ended his auction early for the siege 3 as well now... -J.
  16. Last I looked at it, it was at about $3100 already... -J.
  17. The wolverine #1 and batman rrp were taking down. Probably a deal was made off eBay. So much for waiting on the final auction price ... seller should've just let the auctions run its course. +1 Though considering that the Bats 608 was over $3k and the Wolverine was over $2k already, I would imagine he didn't take them down for chump change... -J.
  18. It's looking like I may have to get around to updating this list once these auctions are over. -J.
  19. +X-23 #1 Dell Otto CGC 9.8 +Wolverine #145 Nabisco CGC 9.8 Jerome Total sale price of all 5 books will be over or under 10k? Easily Over ---->> Bats #608: $4000-$5000 Wolverine #1: $2000-$3000 Siege #1: $2000-$2500 X-23 #1: $1200-$1500 Nabisco Wolverine: $1000 -J.
  20. Gadot and Lucy Lawless are virtually identically sized at 5' 10" and 135 to 140 pounds, although when she first took the part Gadot was at modern waif model weight and under 125 pounds. Understanding that the average American female size is 5'4", 140lbs, Gadot would probably be considered borderline anorexic during her modeling days, and "waify thin" now even with her added "muscle". -J. Is that true? I would have thought the average North American female would have been heavier than that! I'm obviously spending too much time at Walmart... I stand corrected ! It looks as though the CDC just revised the average American female height/weight late last year to 5'4", 166 pounds. -J.

  22. I agree with the one comment from the link that too much technology is involved in the villains. The Rhino was a joke and the Vulture looks like Acroyear. Not to mention Defoe's armored Goblin. It should be fine if it's in the Doc Ock vein. It's all in the casting and execution.... -J.
  23. Two boardies have said 7.0's have sold privately in the $65K range. I wouldn't be surprised if that is round about what the one on the boards also went for. -J. considering the price was lowered to $62k and it sold not long after, i'd say that was the # Eh. It's a $2500 difference. Round about the same price. I don't check for sale threads unless I actually have money to spend. -J.
