  1. Hey J! Well I like what she brings to the role (not talking physicality now - just how she approaches it). And she is more 5" 3". Which is the same height as Wolverine supposedly is. So if you can accept Wolverine (a man) at 5" 3" doing all that damage, a from childhood trained assassin at 5' 3" who is a woman should not stretch one's belief system. (oh poopies I played thew gender card) Those celebrity height sites are almost never right. She's maybe 5'2" on a good posture day. Plus Wolverine is a burly, medically enhanced mutant (who's played by a 6' + tall actor on screen who was also miscast IMO). And whoops! I just played the mutant card. -J.
  2. I think someone else nailed it earlier. Her physicality is just all wrong. She was miscast. I never "believe it" when I see a 5"2" pixie single handedly taking down a bunch of stormtroopers. Its easier for me to suspend disbelief for the sentience and rise of a 50 foot robot. Mila Jovovich would have been a great choice for the role. -J.
  3. Yes, the same three or four overpriced copies that have been listed and re-listed repeatedly for weeks (two CBCS copies, 1 CGC 9.6 and a raw one). As for the rarity, it's a five and a half year old book with ~50 graded copies between two companies, so you decide. -J.
  4. Are you asking why the same three or four overpriced raw and CBCS copies still haven't sold? The answer is the same is when you asked this last week. -J.
  5. Agreed, if the book had a higher grade it would likely have sold for more (irrespective of the "PQ" on the label ). But it's my understanding that, in these low grade ranges, the grade is not hit further for the "PQ" on the label. Can you have a natural 9.0 that says "brittle pages"? Probably not. But a low grade 1.8? Yes. -J. _________________________ Then I am Happy I can help you with your understanding then At some point a book can't grade any lower (.5) so pq can't affect it more. But a book that is a 1.0 with brittle pages would be higher if pages were better. A 1.8 with brittle pages would grade higher with better pq, etc. That is a fact...just ask cgc ... So in every grade above the minimum, the pq factors in when brittle Not to belabor the point , but I would be curious as to your thoughts on this book, which has both a detached cover and "brittle pages" on the label, and still got a 2.5... http://www.bipcomics.com/showcase/CGCWhiteness/30_Brittle/2.5_Brittle.jpg -J.

  7. .another example of a book that presents exceedingly well in the slab, irrespective of the "PQ" on the label. -J. it graded a 1.8 due to the pq, not irrespective of it A 1.8 with nice pq that presented that well would have sold for close to 10k (I say that because that's about what I'd pay) 4.0 eye appeal with hidden defect would be my kind of book! 4.0 books can have "brittle pages" on the label too. Either way that's a wild result for a 1.8. I personally don't think the "PQ" on the label mattered much, if at all. The book just looks great in the slab. -J.

  9. Consensus is It's at the end of its run and will top out at $875k. A disappointing result for a disappointing movie. -J.
  10. He was only asking 2700$ maybe because it was CBCS Thought he sold it for 2400$ that's what his drop dead price was? Watchcount shows $2400. CBCS slabs usually do sell at a discount. A great book either way if you're really into sigs. -J.
  11. Very nice congrats. Does that version have a thicker cover stock and a higher gloss ? -J.
  12. Damn. Who said old school Electro couldn't have worked in the movie ? -J.
  13. Or more? Jerome Worked out an off eBay deal, did we ? -J.
  14. Actually, raw copies of X 23 #1 were going for $400+ before the 9.8 mycomicshop sale (which was actually for $1,380). Agreed, his Gamora cover for Original Sin is pretty sweet. The whole Original Sin run by him is actually pretty solid. -J. You asked for a data point that showed the book selling for ~$1400+ for months. I gave you that. Now you reveal that you already knew about the sale. We're once again veering into trolling territory, and to what end who knows. I'm sure you must have better things to do with your time, but if you don't, let me state that I do. Good day. -J.
  15. There was a run on every CGC copy that was on ebay last week..... -J. The next 'run' will be when people realize two of the three sold to one guy buying both a blue and the yellow SS 9.8 for top market price in one day. So does that mean the sales don't count? ...and how are you divining who purchased the SS copy? -J. I posted a link to the watchcount results for all three a few post up. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9323254#Post9323254 The only thing that looks "suspicious" to me is that the seller of one of the copies turned down an earlier offer of $1600. FYI I personally know of at least 2 private sales of the book in excess of $1600. -J. Meaningless data from an unreliable source, you. It's unfortunate that all the information you gather on the market from cozying up to sellers and buyers of these books won't really be taken as anything but spin when you can't even acknowledge that there's evidence laid out in front of you that should at least make someone think twice - I say, "hey look", you only see someone who was willing to pay more. Again, 3 sales, first & last are same buyer. Your "evidence" is that one buyer bought two copies of a hot book, paying a price consistent with prices that it has been selling for since January. That's pretty weak. Good talk. -J. Everyone is free to view the "evidence" as they wish - it raises questions for me, obviously it doesn't bother you. How are you divining that this book was selling for $1400/1500 range in January? You just said it was, so is that just more spin or can you link to some proof? You're the only one spinning. http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-23-2010-3rd-Series-1D-CGC-9-8-0271504001-/361467874110?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&rt=nc&si=xbID1M6Roi55pQZ3XgzvrSjCRBk%253D&orig_cvip=true&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&rmvSB=true -J.

  20. Superior Spider man #20 Campbell is getting a little steamy... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Superior-Spider-Man-20-Black-Cat-Variant-CGC-9-6-WHITE-Pgs-/381610579545?hash=item58d9c35659:g:qvoAAOSwiYFXHGbC -J.
  21. were the sketch variants on the outside of the packs? If not, can you share what comics were on the outside? Yes they were on the outside of the pack, Inhuman Rising was on the other side Was there a few days ago. No such luck for me. I hit up 4 or 5 other shops and nothing, it really is a crapshoot. Some of the other packs I saw when I get the sketch variants had True Believers reprints on the top or bottom, I hadn't seen them in packs before, maybe this one shop puts the books out as soon as they get them in? There's a Five Bleow near e that doesn't put a new case out on the floor until the pile on the sales floor is gone so they don't put new ones out for several months. I may have to bribe a stockgirl So from a flipper's/value standpoint is the ASM 4, 1:25 Ramos book the best thing confirmed/known to have ever come out of a 5 below pack? -J.
