  1. Those prices. Anyone happen to notice if he had many takers at those prices? -J. I heard there are few die-hards. I was told that he was doing free sketches too. Line ups were like 3 hours long. Damn. Thanks for the intel. -J.
  2. I am aware of a private sale from about a month ago just under 11k for a 9.6 No wonder why this was 9.6 slab was BINd so quick for $5K just 5 days ago. Big time scam. -J.

  4. I just noticed that a raw "9.4" ASM 688 just sold for slightly under $600 the other day. http://item.ebay.co.uk/231914043351?item_hash4=8a3b4652&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&LH_BO=1&_ipg=200&_pgn=1&rc=nt&rmvSB=true -J.
  5. look at it this way: if you want an authentic picasso his total output would be around 900-1100 pieces from which you choose. if you want a 1st batman well there is about 50-100 tec27 copies known to exist. which one is scarcer? Ok, but if I wanted a Picasso Blue Room, how many exist? Just the one. I'm not going argue the scarcity in some comics and how that helps increase the value. Same with cultural revelance. Which right now Batman is starting to trump Superman in popularity. There are many characters that trump superman's popularity already. Spider-Man is another one. -J.
  6. If you have a CGC 9.6 and know enough to quote the census , you can also easily see what other asking prices are on eBay. But it's the nature of the account, just as much as the giveaway price that raises the red flags. Looks like GPA also scrubbed it from their records. -J.
  7. What exactly makes this a scam? The price or something looks off about the book? The fact that no copy in that grade has sold for that price in 12 years, the fact that there was no selling activity by that "seller" in over a year, and when they were selling things it was all fun parts and accessories. It is most likely a hacked ebay account. Happens all the time with AF 15 too. -J.
  8. Definitely. I've already emailed GPA about it. -J.
  9. Sounds a little like my buddy when he has an asthma attack. Also, the "jokes" in these re-shoots that we just saw in this new trialer all fell flat, and, as I feared , Will Smith is just being Will Smith in this. -J.
  10. I had it listed for about three hours before it sold. I was surprised it went so fast. Congrats on the sale man =) Interesting - I can still get a raw NM for under £10 ($14)... maybe I should pick one up. First to market bump, perhaps. -J.
  11. Nice. Wonder if that Original 7 Gamora will pop soon after.... -J.
  12. good idea. Went for $455. Dayum. That definitely makes that $1400 Dell'otto lot that sold look like a fair price. What about that last copy that's up for $450? -J.
  13. Not anymore.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-COVERLESS-/272200759942?hash=item3f606dfa86:g:-ZUAAOSwzgRWyXQj -J.
  14. I picked up a Tec 880 from Jerry. He shipped immediately and the book was EXPERTLY packaged. Thanks Jerry ! Regards, -Jay
  15. Mine arrived today too. Not 9.8's tho sadly A spine tick that doesn't break color, but I don't think is pressable either because it's pretty intense. So if anyone has an extra 9.8 candidate, hit me up! Jerome Store name or not, I bet that looks sweet in hand. And on another note, this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-23-1-Special-DellOtto-Variant-Cover-GREAT-COVER-CGC-9-6-NM-Must-See-/111955447503?hash=item1a11108ecf:g:8-YAAOSwGYVW-GMS -J.
  16. I added it to my watch list... I figured it wouldn't last long... first graded copy to hit the market I've seen... like I've said before... this book is going to be a monster, black panther is gaining a lot of popularity due to civil war and the new comic series that came out... I had several offers for my raw copy of $600 plus sight unseen... June can't get here soon enough so I can get my 2 copies signed by Campbell and slabbed... So, any opinions on how much I left on the table by not leaving it as an auction-only without a BIN? I seriously didn't think it would pop that soon, but in hindsight, with only 4 graded copies (2 9.6s and 2 9.8s) I probably should have known better. That's why you should have sacked up and done a straight no reserve. Great result for you either way. But I do think people are (over) paying for this book without knowing how rare it really is, and looking for "the next" UXM 510 sketch. Convention books handed out directly to fans have no print run guidelines (yeah, yeah, yeah) and they don't really seem to follow the typical slabbing patterns either. -J. The story about it on Marvel's website describes it as "a very exclusive, very limited spotlight variant cover" that "was printed in an extremely low quantity and distributed for free exclusively to fans that attended the Marvel panels." No actual numbers, true, but if they're honest, then the max number is the number of attendees of those panels. http://marvel.com/news/comics/6859/nycc_09_exclusive_black_panther_1_variant_cover_ 77,000 people attended the NYC Con in 2009. How many of those people attended the Marvel panels? Most likely, a lot. I do believe the book is relatively rare but I don't believe it is as rare as many people seem to believe it is. -J.

  19. Strong result. But then it also looks like a legit 9.8 candidate. -J.
