  1. I KNEW the guy who got that CGC 9.0 copy a little while back on comic link got a helluva deal. -J.
  2. It would appear the article writer didn't factor the behavior of potential movie-goers during a religious and family holiday like Easter. Isn't that why it was released that weekend? Taking advantage of holidays? Yes. They wanted the out of school kids AND to get away from Cap 3. The day over day drops are definitely not a good sign. -J.

  4. The sellers listed the condition of those as only being FN/VF. A NM copy went for $85 the day before. -J.
  5. It's interesting you say this. A buddy of mine and I had a similar conversation and we put the final worldwide at about $750-$800mm. Something in line with MOS numbers. Good but not great. Deadpool will end up being a more lucrative movie and far more profitable. Warner Bros really does need to re-think their approach. Also, having a different actor playing the Flash in the movie from the show is stupid. -J.
  6. Someone buying a book with bright colors not paying attention to PQ...? Clutch the pearls ! -J.
  7. Wasn't at a show but the one I got in Sept 2012 that got a 9.8 was at an LCS for $30, Never say "never." Unless it's about the price of this book dropping. Then it's definitely never Easier said and done eight months after a book comes out than 4 and a half years. -J. What was I thinking, it was Sept 2014 durp! Well....that is impressive. -J.
  8. About $7000. Not anymore... http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=650292 -J.

  10. Awesome cover! Which one issue is this? Its Batman/Superman 7 i believe but this is the french variant he did the cover for it truly is amazing No text at all on the front cover to obscure the image. Beautiful. -J.
  11. Great book. Looks like somebody pulled the trigger on it.... -J.
  12. A real 9.0 just sold this month for $1059 so it is possible that an inattentive buyer overpaid for the reprint. -J.
  13. Nice. Congrats on the sale. And to think that yours, and this raw copy... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-678-venom-variant-/222038909181?hash=item33b28ce0fd:g:COEAAOSwuAVW1Sxd ...both sold when nobody was posting in this thread at all, including for the (allegedly) sole purpose of selling a copy or "protecting their investment". ( It's called an "appreciation thread", genius.) Supply/demand indeed. -J. That sounded like a challenge so just for fun, I will focus on this part. Let's do the easy one, the e-bay raw auction linked above was a ten day auction started on March 1st that ended on March 11th, it is TRUE, this thread wasn't bumped during that time period. However On March 2 - a WTB thread got "serviced" by someone linking to the live auction. On March 4 - Someone started a Venom movie discussion thread thread. On March 7 - Then in a miscellaneous variant discussion thread someone directed someone who linked to the auction to this unbumped thread when they asked about it. There probably would have been more action but someone was probably busy and/or distracted arguing about whether white page books get a premium. What are you even trying to say with this man ? Can you tell us who was on the grassy knoll too ? How about this instead..... The GPA record sale of Elijahsnow's 9.4 copy on February 16 (when nobody was talking about the book on these boards) shook loose a nice looking high grade raw copy for sale 12 days later.... ....as well as the (current, also 9.4) copy at auction on eBay now. You give far too much weight to anything that goes on on these boards, and certainly to some random dude's WTB thread. This thread was originally started (back in 2012) because the book blew up. The book didn't blow up because the thread was created. And as demonstrated when I re-linked the first page here, nearly the identical naysaying happened on page one that's still going on 110+ pages later, and guess what.... ? It still isn't making any difference. Supply/demand. 4+ years strong. -J.
  14. Awesome pick up ! Have you picked up a superior spider man 20 yet ? I notice that's on the uptick again. -J.
  15. Nice. Congrats on the sale. 16. It sounds like the best time to sell your copy then. And it is a gem of a copy too, btw. You should get some good coin for that issue right now, before the bottom falls out. Jerome What if I...er, I mean, HE...has no interest in selling my...er, HIS...copy? What if he didn't buy it to "invest"? I have lots of books where I watched the market come AND go on them....and I didn't do anything with them, because I collected them, and had no interest in selling them. Does being a collector mean one can't therefore understand the realities of the market? Not at all, collectors are part of the market and help contribute to lowering the supply of some books like this one. If he's got a full run (or even near full run) of ASM...Big congrats, that ain't easy! Hopefully he got his copy a while ago. Jerome Deja vu all over again: when a 9.8 was selling for only $1000 There should be a statute of limitation on "wrong" and a limit on how many times the same person can say the same thing over and over and over and over and over....... again. -J.
  17. Please do not feed those irrationally pumping the value of manufactured rarities, claiming they can't ever go down in price. Still futilely grinding that axe are we? In yet another book's (that you do not own) appreciation thread. -J.
  18. It wasn't in the mcs auction last month Did sell through us, but not in auction: Amazing Spider-Man (1998 2nd Series) 678B CGC 9.4 sold for $1699.99, $1751 with 3% buyer's premium Awesome. Thanks for the link. -J.
  19. Joke's on you! My mother doesn't charge me rent. -J.
  20. not really, but ok And this is totally accurate: Not really. These modern age books are like the junk bonds of the 80's...extremely high risk. People, even after the crash, still wanted FF #1. Nobody wanted, after the crash, Unity #0 Red. And there are more FF #1s in existence than Unity #0 Reds. (And I suspect the people still looking for that book...myself included...perhaps numbered fewer than 100 nationwide.) Take it to another thread bud. -J. Classic Jdog - now he's telling you who can and can't post in a thread. Hey J! Bite me. This wasn't even addressed to you. You're much more interesting (and in your element) when you're peddling that over-graded dollar bin dreck of yours, troll. -J.
  21. Great story, great seller, great book and great wife ! -J.
