  1. Or it could be the fact that CGC finally updated the census. If you look at the Batman #121 thread there was a lull in listing the 9.0 that sold on Pedigree a couple of weeks back. The book was up for auction but was not in the census yet........ Onsite books usually take a couple of weeks to show up in the census - for everything else, the census is updated every week  Jaydog lives for the day when he can expose this book and its overinflated, hyped up, artificial, no count, questionable value. Pack a lunch I think this book is overinflated too - but, unlike the ASM variant from the other thread, it's also fairly clear that the prices for this book are being driven by solid demand, not by some perceived "rarity" Demand is demand, regardless of what (you believe) the reason for it is. (thumbs u -J.
  2. Looks like somebody also popped a 9.6 for $1695 yesterday as well. -J.
  3. Somebody must have found a box of high grade copies of these in that infamous, mysterious and dreaded "warehouse of undiscovered comic books". The census numbers jumped markedly last week: 9.8- +12 (359) 9.6- +14 (476) 9.4- +6 (266) 9.2- +2 (157) 9.0- +3 (125) -J.
  4. I really think that is very unlikely. I've only seen two of the former, ever. And at least a dozen copies of the latter in the last 18 months or so alone. Should be NDS, not Mark Jewelers, dunno if its worth the trouble of sending it back in to get it fixed. I've yet to see another one. Anyone else seen one? Very cool! Are you sure there's an insert in there though ? I don't see a star stamp on the book. Should be able to see the blue and white edges of it peeking out from the bottom of the book, even in the slab. I would definitely get the label corrected if you ever even think you might sell it. Insert aficionados/those who would pay a premium for a bronze age mega key with one will know it's not right. -J.
  5. Don't even know what your post said, just wanted to give you a for that swanky sig line of yours. -J. not my sig line...I used to have a swanky one ! but no more still have all those books but 3 of them then it went to this... Still quite swankified. (thumbs u -J.

  8. Another raw double cover just sold on ebay. I think copies of this particular book with the NDS insert (pre-Mark Jewelers) are far more rare than copies with double covers. -J.
  9. Nice looking 8.0. Congrats ! Is there anyone still updating this club ? -J.
  10. pending copy paid for today...upto 89 So I take it there are still no signs of the book slowing down? -J. I take it he would have zero incentive to tell people HERE it is even if it was. Rhetorical question. -J.

  12. Is that a colour rub on two different places on the back ? If so, I'm sticking with my 9.4. I have a 9.6 with one speck of that rub on one corner of the back cover. I even talked to Matt Nelson about it. The rubs on your book are much larger, and if in two different places I'm not seeing a 9.6. 9.4, maybe. CGC is tight now too, so also keep that in mind. Best of luck let us know how it turns out. Hopefully the others will end up being right. (thumbs u -J.
  13. My thought exactly. Probably about right? That's about ten percent below the last sale. -J.
  14. Sorry for the late reply. Those colour rubs on the back will most likely get this book a 9.2/9.4. Great copy by the way. -J.
  15. The Amazing Fantasy #15 had Marvel chipping on it which seems to keep prices lower. Meanwhile the Hulk #1 looked like a 7.0 copy in a 6.5 holder. They weren't really comparable copies. This copy is more comparable to the AF #15 that just sold. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fdefault.asp%3FFocused%3D1%23Item_1077721&id=1077721 Roy is correct ... Not all 6.5s are created equal. I didn't bid on the 6.5 due to weak eye appeal. This is a prime example of why those that rely solely on gpa data to make a point are often not supporting their point He'll just have to learn how to not rely on lone, obvious outlier pricing next time. -J.
  16. Careful. Posting publicly available sales data to make a point can get you ridiculed around here. -J.
  17. Damn.. didn't a 4.5 just sell for that ? This book confuses me. -J.
  18. Not a bad price, but a bit lower than I imagined. The $6k jump in price in the last 30 seconds was entertaining enough at least. -J.
