  1. After seeing those closer pics going to have to revise mine to a 4.0 as well. Still an awesome book though and should be slabbed post-haste. (thumbs u -J.
  2. Man.. I wish I had "stocked up" on Hulk 180's. They can still be had for very reasonable prices. (thumbs u -J. Maybe in Jaydog money. In dungeon world, affordable, or reasonably priced books are more like New Universe titles. Touche. Although Jaydog money isn't what it used to be either nowadays. Hence why I've been trolling the copper and modern threads of late. -J.

  4. Yes, X-,men 266 is still (quite obviously) the first canonical appearance of Gambit. A quirk in the publishing schedules is the only reason X-men Annual #14 just so happened to incidentally hit the newsstands first. Again, comics are not simply "collector's items". They are stories, and when considering this or that character's cameo, first full appearance, etc, it must be done so in that context, and this is why the designations exist as they do. And it is also why any conversation about ads, "prototypes", etc, as being "first appearances" is frankly, stupid. -J.
  5. I have repeatedly stated that my argument has nothing to do with the value of the books. You shouldn't confuse desirability with value. I have a lot of things in my collection that are worth little to others but everything to me. Perhaps. However the "value" of the books is inextricably linked to their relative significance as decided (or perceived) by the market at large. And the market has spoken. -J.
  6. Another boardie did win that full cover on ebay, and I think he got a pretty decent price on it as well. Tougher to say what this front cover only will go for. Normally I'd say maybe $8k. It just depends on what people ultimately think of the colouring error. -J.
  7. It sounds to me like "certain people" have stocked up on (or only own) the much less desirable cameo and/or ad "appearances" of some characters and are upset that they aren't "worth" much (or anything) compared to the industry standard actual first appearances and/or first full appearances of the characters. Everything RMA has said on this subject is 100% accurate. -J.
  8. Looks like a "new" 0.5 blue label hit the census this week. Also, this is coming up for auction: http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fsearch%2Easp%3Fwhere%3Dauctions%26title%3DCaptain%2BAmerica%2Bcomics%2B1%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item%5F1086000&id=1086000 -J.
  9. The boardies above me seem rather conservative to me. I'm going 4.5-5.0. Nice copy. -J.
  10. It is actually cool to see original owner books, regardless of condition IMO. Sentimental value counts for something too. -J.
  11. Except there's no where he could've gotten that information. He has no proof. I normally order 2 copies of Scooby Do TU for my store, I ordered 12 of #12. I'm certainly not the only person who upped their order on it. I'm also thinking it's going to be in the 10-12,000 range. At least. I'll ask him where he got that figure of 7,000 from, , in a couple days, next time I stop by his shop. He also said that he thought the book was worthless and he was annoyed that he had 5 people walk in, he had never seen before, asking if he had any copies. He has 0 copies for sale, FTR. I've known the guy for a couple years, he's a pretty straight forward guy and he does not chase after ,or push, hot books. That said, he has no motive to tell me that he was "sure" that the print run was 7000. Maybe he knows somebody at DC or Diamond and got some inside intelligence...or maybe not.hell if I know. In any event, even if the print run was as low as 7000, that is not inordinately rare and the book has *absolutely no* tie in to DC continuity, nor the Suicide Squad movie related scenery. Some dooshbag sellers are listing it as " the 1st App. Gotham Girls"....which is an outright fabrication.Just saying, it is the sort of gimmicky hot book that speculators hear has a super low print run and morally bankrupt eBay flippers use any means they can dream of to get multiples of cover price for a book that came out 2 weeks ago. Once CGC gets flooded with subs of this book,I think the price point on slabbed 9.8's will be around $25 to $50. You just described BA 12. -J.
  12. Yep. CGC 9.8 Harbinger #1 was $350 in March 2015. They're about $700 now. Doubled in six months. CGC 9.8 Batman Adventures #12 was $1,700 in March 2015. They're about $1,700 now. Valiant certainly equals garbage. You mean doubled since the movie deal announcements, right? Still got a long way to go before hitting those 2008-2009 prices  Harley too, no? Actually it looks to have nearly tripled. -J.
  13. I suppose I should have been able to figure that out. -J.

Valiant certainly equals garbage. Do people dress up like Harbinger at comic cons? I see many girls with the same body shape of Zeppelin at comic cons. Which one is "Zeppelin"? -J.

  16. I'm going to go out on a limb and propose something radical, but I think the Modern Age really stared in 2003 with walking dead #1. That book actually does represent a pivot point in the hobby. As for BA 12, it is not a copper book, but is also too old to be considered a "modern". It's a part of an as-of-yet named limbo period in comics (not a very good one). -J.
  17. Yes it did. $28950 to be exact. Your copies of SC22, BB28 and SC4 make my copies sad. If you have a trifecta! That's all that matters. Yes your sig line is killing it. -J.
  18. If you plug in the item # on watch count (in the keyword search box), then it should say "Sold for ______". Sometimes that doesn't work, and you have to click the link that says "check price here on eBay" or "History" and it will take you to the U.K. eBay site which shows the offers/final price. Watch count is helpful for current BIN/Make Offer listings too, because you can see the offers (if any) that have been made/declined. Definitely a useful tool. Thanks Action252kid. I can see it now. Definitely a great tool to have. I wish I knew about this site before Uh....you're welcome? -J. Of course you too J -J.
  19. Yours is more++ Wow...just incredible. A 6.0 is almost in par to AF15 now. I think the great show is doing a lot for this book. -J. Ya think More so than the typical "alternative media bump". -J.

  21. It was $28,950, but yeah, that's a record high by far. Whoops, tiny keyboard typo. -J.
  22. CC 6.0 copy closed at $28.9K. Obliterated GPA. -J.
