  1. Does anybody collect these? I never heard of them prior to a couple of days ago. If you don't know what they are here's a good summary or two. Basically these are animation cels that have backgrounds made by Disney Animators specifically for these cells (at least the Snow White ones do). The 1939 and older are more desirable because of these backgrounds and the fact that the later ones were laminated and can cost 4 to 6 figures (maybe more - a Courvoisier of the Queen from Snow White sold at auction in 1988 for over $50,000). These were all framed at the time and you can help prove the provenance because of the frames and set-ups in these frames and how they are marked. Here's a couple of examples.
  2. Here's an interview I did about my collection, how I got into the hobby, things I have learned here and dealers I won't buy from and why (I talk extensively about Coolines and the Romitaman Shill controversy (I basically just read his words that he wrote on here) from 2016). I hope people find it helpful. I do mistakenly call Gary Land Greg Land once but I correct myself later. I also give shout outs to Albert Moy, Will Gabri-El and Anthony Snyder. https://www.lastmovieoutpost.com/outpost-frequencies-episode-10-collecting-comic-art/

  4. So was everybody else. The price was higher than anybody was willing to pay for several years so raising it makes no sense. If somebody wanted to sell a "stale" page it would make sense to lower the price not raise it.
  5. That's a good one. Absolutely. I consider that "damage" honestly.
  6. What things make you stop considering a piece you would otherwise be interested in? For me: 1. Damage: Mold, water damage, being colored by hand, etc. are all things that make me not interested in a piece. I've seen plenty of these pages with issues priced at close to FMV. Not sure why anybody would pay that when you can get a comparable page with no damage for close to the same price. 2. Price increases on a page that a dealer has owned for years. If a dealer has a page on their site for 6 years at $5,000 and then they take it down for a few weeks/months and then relist it for sale at $8,000 why would I (or anyone else) pay that?
  7. I bet a dealer would take that KJ page in a trade for a $60k piece now.
  8. I'll play. John Buscema (own 2 pages) The Mighty Thor 219 page 17 I love the Sif and Silas Grant panels. Alan Davis (own 2 pages) I have 2 pages from the first 3 issues of Excalibur so this one is tougher. I went with this one because I used to look at in Gary Land's gallery dozens of times a year until I finally owned it. Excalibur 1 page 24 George Perez (own 8 pages) Brave and the Bold Trade Paperback Cover I like that this has a ton of characters on it including the LSH. Jim Lee (own 2 pages) Superman Unchained 4 pages 16-17 I love that Superman image that covers page 16.
  9. Good luck. There is one guy trying to get every single of one of them (I sold him all mine a few years ago) so it might be tough to get one.
  10. I'm guessing the OP meant Richard Dillon and that his first name was censored.
  11. It came today. I love it. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1632821
  12. None. I sold all my comics and bought OA with the proceeds.
  13. My Neal Adams Polaris Commission has shipped. I have no idea what it looks like but hopefully I'll know by Saturday.
  14. Thanks for the reply. Its always good to talk and give advice to each other in a positive way. Too often these forums (not just this one but forums in general) turn into a negative smart guy convention. P.S. The frames come with silicone dots on all 4 corners from the framer so no problem there.
  15. I Thanks. I have had art that I have owned and still own since 2001/2002 stored with these boards/bags and I haven't seen any damage in 18+ years. They all look the same as the day I bought them but I may make changes based on your recommendations. All of the bags I use are from dealers so do you think they are okay? Should I get a portfolio and swap it out? I store all my pages in that bin either in my basement or in a bedroom closet so they never get sun. My framed pages are on my basement walls. For framing I use museum glass, acid free backs and matting and float the paper with rice paper hinges. The framer I use uses the same techniques as the Smithsonian (they taught some class about it - I live in the DC area). Here's an example (forgive the reflections and lighting as its hard to get a good picture down there with the lighting right).
  16. Here's my setup in pictures. I use a Sterilite bin that's perfect for 11x17 pages. The "cardboard" is like a compressed slab that is very sturdy and durable, maybe a few centimetres thick but it would take a lot of force to snap it in half. They are great. Apologies for the pictures. They are grainier than I expected. I guess I should have turned on the light but you should get the idea.
  17. For my non-framed pieces I use those heavy cardboard slabs and mylar bags that Spencer Beck uses with one page in the front and another in the back. I keep all of them in a large plastic bin. Its worked perfectly for me for nearly 2 decades.
  18. $11,000 is the answer so everyone doesn't have to look it up themselves.
  19. Some of the comments above mine make it seem like Albert's prices are 100% firm with no negotiation at all and that if you get free shipping on $10K of art you got a deal. That isn't the case in my experience. Also Albert has plenty of marked discount prices at the Cons I have attended some as deep as 25-30% so he does offer deals but you need to know what the price is on the website to understand that these discounts exist because he's not putting a 20% off post it note on there.
  20. I've negotiated with Albert many times online and in-person. He's always been receptive to my offers. I've been a customer of his for over 15 years. Zero complaints.
