  1. Elfquest is one of the only books (with the exception of TMNT) that came out of the indie 70/80s wave which still sells out competitively.. Compare it to most classic indie titles and Modern ones, it still has a very strong readership. I wouldnt be surprised if anything starts to heat up with this property anytime soon, whether its movie or reboot

    --------

I know i can look it up myself, but does it really sell? Hasn't it been a LONG time between elfquest series? I know there is a niche that can support a title for a year plus or so every now and then, but I'm not sure what "sells out competitively" means.

with that said, i agree with you and wonder why nothing has been done with it in terms of movie/tv. it seems like a no brainer... kids will like it and middle aged parents who remember it will drag their kids there. i know they have been fussing with the idea of a movie for years. the pinnis probably want too much control.

The series mentioned is a current ongoing series.

Boom saw #0 sold well because of speculation and they're trying to do the same thing now.

Why would Boom second print and a marvel retailer variant have the same print run?

MMPR's sold out for everyone within days of it's release. The DEMAND was there before any speculation existed. No one saw THIS amount of interest coming. Not Midtown, Not Mile High, Not Lone Star, Not Diamond, Not the Boom, NO ONE.

Speculation didn't sell that book out at every conceivable location - DEMAND did, and the only thing it's publisher thought was "ARGH! We didn't print ENOUGH copies!'

They didn't make jack squat from any after the fact speculation nonsense. They LOST money because they didn't print enough copies for THEM to sell.

Whatever reason this book was under printed, it had nothing to do with speculation on the first one. Someone screwed up at Boom.

I guess their magic 8 ball was broken the day they made the decision.

  2. True Believers Deadpool 1 $1.00 Marvel 46,636

Boy Id really like to know how many they printed. This was one of the quickest flips for me this year. Made 3 time my investment within days and held to 10 copies, and now they are slowly moving for 10 a pop for me.

If this is TRULY how many they printed, Im wiling to bet that this will be a 20$ book by next year

At $2+ profit, it may be time to start looking for that retirement home. :roflmao:

$20 seems a bit high. But it could be. Alias and Cable & Deadpool MGC's go for $15.

  3.

Speaking of pump and dump, no sales for two weeks then three on the same day?

Hence why it has been posted in the "moderns heating up" thread. (thumbs u

    -J.

    Hence "pump & dump".

We don't know what the printed numbers are. Those are just the minimum for a Marvel book.

Being they still have some, I'm assuming they got more.

I confirmed with big red, 3000/1500. He never sold out from initial release.

Cool, thanks for the info. Surprised thu haven't sold out yet. I guess it's a testament to the shop variants.

  6.

I love this book. It has treated me very well because of an early pre-order mix up and some good communication, I was lucky enough to get a few free sketch covers, and a bunch of colors (that I paid for). I have sold a few sets local and on the bay, thankfully all were 9.6/9.8 looking books so I was getting good returns.

3000 Color/1500 Sketch = More Rare than 1:100 Beefcake Variant, and likely the most desireable of all Deadpool #1's.

    Only on eBay.

    Within a 24 hour period:

    An all time high

    An all time low

    lol WOW!

  7.

Liefeld is a lot better than he used to be.

But these are net heating up. Cover price is $50 + shipping and still available from the shop.

  8. New Mutants 87 qualifies as a heating up book on ebay. Within 24 hours I think 20 copies have been bought via buy it now .

Yep. It was only a matter of time. Been waiting for this one to jump.

There is a big reason why too.

Again, that was only a matter of time. He had to be in either a Deadpool or Xmen sequel. Inevitable.

Chris called this shot 2 years ago! Looking at 9.8 prices on ebay I'm going to have to grade my raw 9.8!

Can you write me down for Fantomex in a movie?

  9. Devil Dinosaur 1 Kirby has certainly gone up. I've been seeing some eBay vendors asking 150% above oversteet. Also Atomic Avenue vendors asking a premium. Still some good deals to be found on eBay and especially good prices on available stock at Mile High since they are usually overpriced but also the last of the big vendors to update due to spec. inflation. I can certainly see why interest is going up. First and foremost it is the King Kirby. Secondly the new Moon Girl and devil dinosaur series is very witty and we'll written. I do believe this is one of the very undervalued bronze age 1st issues so even at a slightly higher than guide price for the condition you want is still a value. I do think that this will continue to pick up steam . I also think there may be a very good opportunity for Disney to make some sort of animated adaption. Fitting since the original concept of Devil Dinosaur was supposed to be developed into a cartoon even back in the late 70's. Now I'm not saying this book is on fire lol I'm saying its certainly seeing increased market activity and though the price is not skyrocketing, it is a stable book that will more than likely hold whatever value increase it sees. I'm a collector not an investor and I cannot stand to buy a "Hot for the moment" book, just to see it fall into a 2 dollar bin later. For example all this inflated variant .

I love shops and dealers that still use Overstreet.

There are a ton of high grade Devil Dino. out there. It's hard to tell movement because one or two sell everyday and most are around $10-15. I don't think that's out of line for a high grade Kirby #1. And, let's be honest, it's a dinosaur and a monkey. I like the prospects of the new series and bought the #1 variant because of the addition of a more relateable (real) character.

  10.

Manufactured rarity or not, there are some modern variant hunters out there that would rather have this variant than x23s first appearance .

I think it's safe to say that if you are paying $1,000 for a Modern character, you probably already have their 1st appearance.

    :gossip: unsold MCS pricing...
