I think Marvel Age Annuals #1-3 have potential, with #3 having the most.
Why? Do they contain out-of-context, non story related previews of new characters?
They actually have original stories. I'm not sure if any characters are introduced, though. I'm also not sure how much potential these have to catch on.
#3 has possibly the first appearance of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse all together with Apocalypse. It's basically the same image as the cover of X-Factor #19.
Ive bought several Marvel age comics for that reason. No one has ever valued them. I can usally get them for 2 or 3 for a $1 currently. If its in high grade and features a 1st appearance I pick it up. I got a nice pile now.
I have one that I bought for $0.25. I also picked up the Inhumans one with Medusa and Black Bolt in the cover advertising for the graphic novel.

Marvel tales issues really are undervalued, let's face it Marvel Tales 1 is still a 60's book and has reprint stories of all the best heroes at a fraction of the price. Not withstanding how little a high grade copy exists, as people treated these as worthless reprints at the time.
You think 98/99/106 is undervalued? They're reprints, I think when high grade versions start to equal the price, or close to the price, of low grade versions the ceiling is hit.
Yes and were not there yet.
The most interesting part about this to me is that DC just sat and watched Marvel reprint old stories for two decades. It's a testament to the brand of Spider-Man vs anybody else.
Alright, then I'll sell you 98 and 99 (low grade copies) for $40 shipped.
Why would I want low grade copies for that price? We were talking about high grade copies and currently high grade don't sell for much more than that.

Because collecting these days is also about rarity.
GPA on 9.8s anybody?

Picked up a Marvel Tales 106 (First Punisher Reprint) for less than $20.00 in NM, same cover but different background color. Have to say this reprint is a cheap alternative and I have a feeling has lots of room for growth.
This is insane IMO! Not sure what the accepted offer was on this:
Guessing it must have been somewhere within $100.00 or less of the asking price.
Why? Why? Spend that much on a reprint when you could get the real one for this: (not my auction)
$250.00

One of a few in that time period.

I break out in a cold sweat when I think about how many stories I'm behind in, but I really did like EoW and need to catch up.
The character and world building was cool but the stories about characters that you now actually care about is making it better imo.
It was very hard to follow at first, at least for me. But it was important because now you know what each character is up to and the larger picture story is really shaping up.

EoW is really getting good.

How is Rob Liefeld's New Mutants run (outside of the already-hot #87 and #98) doing on eBay? The local dollar boxes used to be stuffed with multiple copies of most of these issues, but now there are only multiple copies of X-Tinction Agenda crossover issues left.
I pick up 94 when I see it for $1. I see dealers asking $10 for it, but the bay begs to differ:
86 sells for more than $1

Let's get this back on target.
What Coppers are hot today?
Still hot. I'd take a rain soaked copy of 13 over an autographed Spawn #1 any day.
Looked great, until I saw the shipping price.

I will post my results but I have about 50 other books to have graded, before these 4 and I'm not in a rush as the DS movie won't be out for a while.
Apparent hilarity of my posting aside, my point was that if you KNOW how to grade CONSERVATIVELY and can do so without bias........ you should not feel skittish about assigning a 9.9 grade to a book.
No need to hurry grading them with the quick turnaround times on books these days.

Is it Friday?
...the 1st of April

That was such a strange, strange time. I mean, really, who did Marvel think were their audience, to be publishing beefcake drawings...?
Yea, what were they thinking? Nobody would do that today.

The Ant-Man trailer looks amazing! Love the costume! ....
Maybe it is because so many superhero movies are coming out, but I found the trailer very... ordinary. Pedestrian. I had thoughts of Green Lantern when I watched it.
That's okay though. It doesn't need to be a major hit. Just like the first Thor and Captain America movies, I hope it finds it's own voice and does well enough.
Guess you guys didn't click on the link. hey, I tried
Ha, snuck that one in there.

I think Ant Man has a shot of being "hot"
If you read Foes of Superior Spidey, you'll get it.
Yes.
I bought a ton.
( But why would I buy a ton of something I do not see potential in? )
IDK, I can't run your business for you.

Marvel has a book out called Wolverines tomorrow as well?
Got a hunch its not about Red Dawn.
It's about Jim harbaugh

Everybody, we can beat the hype train. There's a book coming tomorrow. Just sit on the 50 copies you buy for a year then reap the profits!
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl?
-slym
Ant Man?
Yes, the hot books are:
Captain Marvel (Danvers)
Ms. Marvel
Spider Gwen
And
Ant-Man

Ms Marvel 1 - $32.99 (giving EoSV 2 a run in the money dept)
I am surprised since it was hyped quite a bit before publishing.
Myself, like others probably had no care for it because of how hyped it was. Then the story was actually decent.
-
Easily the leader of the pack:
That's silly.
I would much rather buy 10 NM copies of ASM 361 than something less than 5 months old .
Not even talking to variant here
Pffft, Coppers are old, it's all about Moderns!
-
Yea, so buy now?!

Ms Marvel 1 - $32.99 (giving EoSV 2 a run in the money dept)
Just to go a bit farther on this one, last sale of a 9.8 broke $100.00.
This may be a slow burner that ends up being great in the long run.
EDIT: I am speaking of the regular cover.
The variants are all already over $100 per for a 9.8 I believe.
$100 for a graded 9.8 when raws are selling for $50+ seems like a steal to me.
I guess the market has decided this is the key modern for Ms.Marvel/Captain Marvel and not Avenging Spider-man 9?
You're thinking of a different Ms Marvel.
Actually he's got two characters in there. Ms. Marvel (Kahn) and Captain Marvel (Danvers).
The original post was in relation to Kahn, not Danvers.

The sad thing is that even this bit of posting about NFL Super-pro has probably led at least a few speculators to pick it up just in case.
And why is that sad?
Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
