  1. We should pick some random, zero-interest book and encourage as many people as possible to "Watch" it on eBay, and see what effect, if any, that has.

I like this plan, which book?

My first thought was Turok #1, which you probably can't avoid finding in cheap bins if you tried. Viewed newly listed auction for maximum time to accumulate watches and picked one from someone that expects far too much:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turok-Dinosaur-Hunter-vol-1-no-1-July-1993-/151460403201?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2343be5801

    Great pick!

    Check this out:

  2. And there are outlier data points which are anomalies that are not a good indication of where the book is currently valued. That Legends 3 CGC 9.8 copy sold as a BIN at $150. That isn't indicative of any correction on the book, the seller in all likelihood had the book priced too low and someone jumped on it.

And so, you apply the necessary statistical analysis to account for these, but they are still valid data points.

Agreed, but when you make a broad statement that the market is "correcting itself" by using one instance, that is not a proper method of review.

The "market rate" would be considered an average of the whole, which that particular sale would be included in. But the sale 10 days ago for $400 would also be included in that range.

  3. I wonder where people pull these prices from. $269, $399, $529. All randomly selected or hoping for a buyer with more money than brains?

Most probably follow GPA and price a book a little higher than the previous sale. If the market shows resistance then they lower the asking price.

I'm not sure what drove the $529 asking price. That was a MCS listing that had been there for a while, I believe.

MCS pricing is usually out of left field compared to market prices.

    For example...

    Take a chill pill, bro

uhm, what are you talking about? I ignored your comment because its stupid, and certainly wasnt directing anything to you. Nor am I "unchill" about anything. But, I can add you to my blocked user list since clearly you need a permanent time out.

I forgot, relevance has no place on the internet if you are wrong.

  5. read the synopsis of that spider-man book on marvel wiki, says:

"Peter takes a flight with Carol Danvers, the new Captain Marvel"

Her becoming the new Captain Marvel has already occurred right in the description, which happens in Captain Marvel #1, so game, set, match on that debate...

The Spider-Man preview book came out a month before Avenging or Captain Marvel.

    (shrug)

  6. Bah humbug! No board effect at all. :sumo: I don't post or list to please you. lol This was never a $30-40 book, 360 was/is. For a book that shows who we later find out to be Crossbones only in shadows, this is a respectable sale. Six months earlier, it wasn't worth cover price.

Whatever you need to tell yourself.

    :whatev:Whatever yourself. :whee:

The movie came out April 4. eBay doesn't let you go back that far to my knowledge. Captain America 6, 1st Winter Solider sold for $200 when the movie dropped. Now you can buy it for $15. You're going to claim a $20 book now wasn't selling for $30 when the movie came out?

I definitely don't remember any $200 raw sales, but I remember 9.8s getting up to $300 or so.

I'm not going to dig too far, but it was a boardie and he did respond that he got paid. Here is around when it started, selling for $150 raw.

Which, of course, is not even the book we're talking about. :sumo:meh

Um, did you bother to read what I wrote? You were not the only person involved in the conversation.

You willingly use a blade to cut your paper products out of their protection? I would rather not chance it if it's not necessary, that's why I always ship with the tape tabs.

When I unpackage I use this:

  8. if you use tape, you should follow this tip (it starts at the 15 second mark):

    (thumbs u

This is the method I use. I haven't had a mishap since.

+1 I've been doing this for years. If you do it the way the video says it's impossible to get a tape pull. it's simple and it requires no special material.

Yea, this is also my method when I ship things. Nothing worse than fighting with tape to try and get your comics out of a cardboard sandwich.

  9. I agree with some of the others... Too many announcements. Suicide squad, sinister six, shazam, etc. I'm just not interested in a slaughter of poorly done movies, Ryan Reynolds back in a super hero movie scares me.

The best bet if people like to play cautious is stick to Marvel and Batman related keys, as they have a proven track record.

Tough comic book speculating bets are buying the Image comic books that get optioned by a Hollywood studio, then waiting years to see if they ever get made.

I suppose if you're buying some of those Image books at 50 cents to a dollar a piece its not too hard to sit on them. Hell, you can find the Legends mini series for a $5 easy.

Speculating is best served on minor books that don't have a lot of room to tank. Spend the big $$ on books you love.

Speaking of Legends, don't sleep on #1, first app of Amanda Waller.

She's already appeared on TV quite a number of times. They even tried to give her more what could be termed more sex appeal to the masses.

Seems like that one is on the decline.

    Yeah...that was a $30-40 book 6 months ago.

Although I need to give credit to the fact that it's pretty close to the assigned grade. :acclaim:

  13. EoSV #2 second printings are starting to pop too! I pre-ordered 3 each of the second and THIRD prints. This thing may go to 7-8 printings.

Got the other prints to go with my measly 3 1st prints :)

What do the 2nd printings and 3rd printings look like? Variant covers with new artwork?

This is Marvel we're talking about here.
