  1. Neither could I.

Yes, CGC has omitted a lot of this information, maybe to protect themselves from a character popping up in a panel somewhere.

Starhawk has a page in #27, but I can't remember if he is called out by name. I don't think he is.

Yea, not called out by name, correct? Full page of panels though.

...and it looks like he is made of light... hm

  2. Defenders #28 makes no mention of Starhawk on the CGC label.

CGC has omitted this information on so many minor firsts and cameos it isn't funny. Then again, that's not what you're paying them for.

He has a cameo in 27 and in 28 he is front and center on the cover and it says "ENTER STARHAWK!"

Maybe CGC considers 27 his first full (OPG does not), I can't find any slabs of 27 out there.

  3. I'll have to look for some copies this weekend. I wonder why this is heating up and not Breath of Bones. Both were optioned in the same week.

Boom vs Dark Horse.. The answer is def in the print run

    Breath of Bones #1 6,465

I can't find anything for Foundation as far as print run, but I did find this, ha:

As a artist and illustrator, I am disgusted by the art in this book. This is my opnion is some of the worst I have seen. I will not be picking this book up at all.

  4. ACTUALLY....

There ARE quite a few Bronze Age first appearances...and of fairly important characters...that don't get (as) much love.

    Spotlight #32, X-Men #107, X-Men #109, X-Men #121, Astonishing Tales #25 (this has been rectified a bit since the Shield series), Spotlight #2, etc.

Let Marvel make an Alpha Flight movie, and #120-121 become $1,000+ books again in 9.8.

Captain America #208 is the first appearance of a substantial Marvel movie villain as well.

Good pick. I also originally came in this thread to mention Spotlight #32 is starting to get some attention. Probably because they are talking about a female solo movie. It's a damn hard book to find in high grade too.

Keep an eye on Marvel Presents #3. GOTG begins and 1st Novacore. Full disclosure-I own zero copies, but I sold a 7.0 raw for a hair under $15 last week on ebay. I might try to pick up a few nicer copies.

    Good pick as well.

  5.

More recently it's been going for $10-15. Most recently there are some $7 sales, but I would say for a month or two it's been $10+.

Some other new Marvel series above cover are Magneto, Gambit, Deadpool vs. Carnage, Loki and Moon Knight.

  6. Anyone who pre-ordered the ASM #4 JSC covers get theirs yet?

Figured I would see some today seeing as they should have gotten their copies early last week.

I would go easy on that one... doubt anyone has them yet. It's going to be over 1400 orders to ship and they had SDCC.

I just got an email that says that Marvel delayed them and they will ship on the 30th.

  7. Just picked up a Brave and the Bold #200 at my LCS. Appears to be about a 9.0, too. Not bad for not even having been boarded.

Is it a canadian price variant?

it's all about canadian price variant / newstands for Brave and the Bold #200 First Katana

Just curious, but I don't see that at all.

How many newstand / Canadian Price variants are there on ebay of that particular comic?

One. Sure its way over-priced, but try finding a NM copy.

Better question, how many people want to buy it? Very niche, so ask whatever you want. A crazy collector might pay.

  8. Can we start a separate "First Appearance Debate" thread

To get back on topic... The Strain #1 and 2 just keep going up! Is there a ceiling on those books? How good is the show? Havent seen any episodes yet.

Have not seen the show - a coworker recently told me (he has no idea I read comics, or that this is a comic property) that the show was 'awful.' No one else with us had ever heard of it, so... time will tell. If it reaches a mainstream audience, then no, there probably is not much of a ceiling.

The prices right now are most likely just speculators selling to speculators.

Someone didn't like it?! Sell! Sell! :ohnoez:

    Of course, there is this;

  9. Wow, nice payout on a book with that severe a misalignment (worship)

Did you grade it at 7.5?

MCS gives the grade on the books they receive. They are very strict too.

Yeah MCS gives the grade, I had it as a 9.2 but I wasn't sure how CGC would hit the misalignment. It failed a 9.6 prescreen but I thought 7.5 was pretty brutal.

And that's exactly why I don't send books to them. Strict is good but I think they're too strict.

    So you're saying it's a buyer's paradise..... hm

That's why some books sell at higher prices than ebay. People know the grade low and therefore can slab it and get a higher grade and flip.

MCS is brutal. But hey, at least they offered me a solid $16 on an ASM 300 8.5

  11. Maybe Amazing Spider-man 1 as well. I haven't gotten my grades back so I cant tell you If its an issue with that book. But all of them had the bindery tears.

Yup, producers have no problem charging $8 for a thicker book (more ads) and printing it on newspaper.

I would bet the Deadpool wedding book had issues too. That was only what $8-9 cover?

  12. It looks like Firestorm 1 is seeing some nice movement currently. Id like to say its exploding, but after I looked at the 3 highest sales which are around $40 I am not sure about their validity. It is however exceeding $20+ regularly now.

The problem with Firestorm #1 is that most copies out there on the bay suck donkey balls. They're filled with ticks, rubs, splits and generally are in poor condition. If one actually came around that was even close to NM I betcha it'd fetch some bigger $.

Ebay NM = found in trash can covered in splooge.

You would think the fire would repel the ticks....
