  1. MGN 17 and Moon Knight Vol 2 have completely different creative teams so the name "Sabah" is probably just a coincidence, they could've just as easily used Akhmed or Anwar in both books

If there was a connection between En Sabah Nur and Sabah, you'd think that Moon Knight would've been in the Living Monolith story but he isn't.

I have a copy of the MGN in question and if Apocalypse is behind the scenes, he's gotta be way behind the curtain because I don't remember him at all though it's been a while since I thumbed thru it.

If Marvel wiki recognizes it as Apocalypse, I should probably ebay it soon because wiki doesn't lie, right?

    1. I think you missed part of the conversation. Apocalypse doesn't appear I'm the form we know. That's where the Middle Eastern name talk came from.

    2. Check current and sold eBay prices and get back to us.

  2. And thus the WW 72 will come down in price so soon buyers can rejoice as supply will increase. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.

Yes, it will. It has been up in price for a while though.

The only WW comics I would ever purchase are Bolland covers.

    Say whaaat?! :screwy:

  3. He's a throwaway joke character who just wants to live a normal life and appeared - once - 26 years ago.

Then again, I'm still waiting for Marvel to sink even deeper into the garbage pile they've been inhabiting for years by introducing "the terrifying new villain who knows Spider-Man's secret identity, Tim Harrison!"

I'm still waiting on White Rabbit to catch on. She actually is in the new ASM.

  4. Yes, Monolith.

From what I understand he is not shown anywhere, maybe in a shadow. With that being said I'm not sure it's worthy of a change if you can even be sure it's him. What's next, the human hand from Web of SM #18 is a cameo for Eddie Brock?

    Isn't it? hm

I think CGC lables it "First Eddie Brock fingernail".

  5. Does anyone think the market will ever reflect Marvel GN Series 17 as the first appearance of Apocalypse? It seems as if all the cheap copies have dried up on Ebay. Because of the retcon I am hesitant to buy into this one. Same goes for Jessica Jones but that discussion belongs in a different forum I guess.

Is that the Living Monolith issue?

Coincidently, I just re-read that last night. It's a pretty cool story. It reminded me just how much I enjoyed comics back then and wished that today's comics could be more like that.

  6. Sounds like a helluva lot of work to earn a few bucks. Aside from books that sell for any kind of real money (e.g. The Strain), speculating in recent moderns seems like a collosal waste of time, even if IRR is respectable.

Yea, a lot of work, like you would have to own a comic shop or something, huh?

  7. Batman 3 - New 52 has been a consistent seller for maybe a year+ now. I stumbled into a bunch of copies of these and they sold briskly at $15 or so a pop. I wonder if something has been selling for a consistent premium like that long enough whether it is primed to go to the next level.

    1 & 3 move, yet I can't get a bite on #2

  8.

So based upon all those reports you would tell the comic book public to not speculate and secure possible copies of that book?? Wait for official word from Marvel themselves? Ok buddy

I'm saying it's not a good idea to state it's a sure thing. Post a link and state some are speculating it will be him.

  9. Marvel Two-In-One 52. First Crossfire, main villain in the upcoming Antman movie.

Obscure seldom used bad guy ... check.

    Dollar bin book... check.

    Happy hunting.

That has not been reported at all.

    Google is your friend.

Read the articles yesterday. It's speculation at this point. You are saying it's a sure thing.

  10. I doubt this is a shill (now that I am looking at the correct link) :foryou: Listing your acceptable price is a good method of selling (as long as you're patient). I agree that there is nothing about this listing that would make me want to buy the book, however. :insane:

It was an auction though, not a BIN. If you list that book by lowest price there would have been plenty of others BIN for lower.

  11. Print runs man. There's like half a million copies of X-Force #2 compared to 50K or so of GOTG #1, and it's the 1st appearance of the current team. You know, the one the movie is based on

Deadpool regular series had low print runs. Is #1 now even a $25 book yet (raw)? (I'm asking, when I sold a few of these a little while back it was not)

Yes, current team, but any new characters?

I'm blanking here, but is there any mainstream, non-variant, marvel (or even DC) from the last 10 years that is at $100 a pop like that? Batman 1 New 52 I guess is/was flirting with $70 in some sales?

I'll dig through my boxes. I might have a copy. If so, that price is TOTALLY justified and whoever is questioning it is a frigging insufficiently_thoughtful_person, myself included.

I suppose if Preacher 1 is a $100+ raw book, then anything makes sense as I assume Preacher had a healthy six figure print-run. A year ago I could have gone to a big show and come back with a box of Preacher 1s and likely not paid more than $10 each, perhaps even $5 or even $2. GOTG 1 might have been a $1-$2 box book, but good luck actually finding it in such a box. (Of course, I guess copies were on ebay...)

As was stated, print run was low for the time. Also, Preacher #1 is almost 20 years old.
