  1. I pre-ordered a bunch from midtown months ago at dirt cheap pre-order pricing, paid for the more expensive, quicker UPS shipping, books arrived quickly and all wete damaged due to midtown using too small of a box. Went to reorder, limited to 1 per customer, and they've yet to respond to email. Might have to call them today. They are usually pretty good about these things ..

They are? Got some bombshells in, all damaged corners. Emailed them multiple times about that and another issue. Seems like a 2-3 day turnaround on an email response. Probably never use them again, don't typically buy the variants and that's the only reason I would having dealt with other, better sources.

Use their online chat. Email has never worked for me. but their online CS reps have always been really helpful.

Tried is once, during operating hours. The message I received said it was offline (not during operating hours which it was) and that I would be contacted by email when they were available. Not a peep regarding that, ever.

  3. The argument about not finding NM+ books out there because it's a lower run kids book is iffy. The same argument was made about BA12 and as soon as the price skyrocketed the number of 9.8s doubled. If a book becomes popular, people will dig them out of their long boxes once the books are worth submitting to CGC.

Being a kids book might have something to do with it but BA12 is valuable because of Harley more than anything. Doubt Livewire will ever reach that level of mainstream popularity. SA5 got hyped up by these boards and is now coming back down to reality like all the rational boardies here predicted.

It was $1.50 in March and is still selling for $40-50. What is reality? Yes, there were a few $100 outliers, but not that many.

  4. Once again, I have to thank this board for helping me find some hidden eBay gems.

Went to an LCS after work and found a VF Two-in-One in a 75% off box.

Now to make some money before people realize what they are buying.

    What are they buying?

Bad speculation, everybody trying to beat the price inflation.

You should embrace it. In fact you should embrace every high dollar Bronze Age sale. (thumbs u

I don't have a problem chasing bad money. I have a problem with people starting false rumors on here. A lot of people read the information on here and never comment.

  5. The DC Universe books aren't reprints, unless they are second or later printings.

The earliest ones are reprints (GL #36, for example), but most of them were printed at the same time, for the multi-packs and collector's packs.

When the crossover from UPC box art to "Direct Edition" occurred in late 1993, DC wisely remembered the problems Whitman had had over a decade earlier, and chose "DC Universe" instead of having a UPC code on the cover which might inadvertently get scanned.

Not reprints, how so? They are simply a comic with a different logo where the UPC or direct image would be placed. As far as I know there were no DC Universes only comics.

  6. Because some here say they should I guess.

Yup, hopefully Ween learns his lesson: stick to BINS instead of auctions.

Some of you guys a crazy as sh*t. Again, this is not my auction. I though people post here to discuss collecting comics that are undervalued or rare. The DC Universe UPC box printings are both.

Again, very niche market for them, much like price variants. The ones that do command some money are the books that are already valuable, like MOS #18. I don't think this particular one that sold will ever be worth more than it's 1st print counterpart.

  7. It sold for a penny!?!

    Haha, wow.

    $5.01 actually.

Even that is low. The DC Universe UPC printings are seriously undervalued and the cool thing is they can be found on Ebay often really cheap because sellers don't know what they have.

Yes, but it's a very niche market. I have a Flash #91 (1st Impulse) listed for a while with no bites.

oh i agree that's why it seems appropriate to mention an auction like that in this thread. Is your 91 graded?

    :roflmao:

  8. Can we get the Midtown update where people have to walk around stacks of unsold Outcast.

    Are you kidding ?

..and 10 copies went for $65

It appears there may be a shortage...

    :roflmao:

Who buys a lot of 10 copies like that. I guess they don't know how to find a discount pre-order site but somehow know how to make it to eBay. I think pre-orders were as low as $1.50. They could have had about 40 for the price they paid for 10.

  9. Those were the first to market copies - which always seem to attract several deep-pocketed suckers buyers. I'd venture a guess and say that this will be a sub-$100 book fairly shortly.

OK, but the poster said it's not worth anything, like $0. There are plenty of unslabbed out there that are getting $10.

  10.

    ^^

What's the point grading a book that's importance hasn't even been established. 4 seems about right to hit the 'early-bird buyers', but until we, as readers actually know what Kirkman has planned for the new characters in TWD #127, then it's all academic.

#92 should grow with every month Jesus lives and contributes, the same with #108 with Ezekiel.

But until #127 establishes itself - it's not worth anything. For all we know, Magna dies next week, and the young Asian girl becomes the "big" character to come from the issue.

It's certainly a book that should do well - but not for a couple of years.

Print run was 74,000, so it's a common book - and one that is going to be physically well read, so the smart thing would be to box them up, and wait for a couple of years. Kirkmans pushing on to 300 issues still, right?

    2c

Hmm, some would beg to differ
