  1. that statement was odd to me. Is it possible the goods and services option was turned off for him due to failure to pay his Paypal loan? Anyone else with a thought on this?
  2. I have a question. Can someone reconcile this statement Chip made is his last getting evicted sale: "I've found out I can accept PayPal but only personal" I know it's against board policy to ask for personal so strike right there, but curious to know if something like that is true or not where someone can only receive personal and not funds for merchandise sold. I just don't know enough about PayPal but would like to know.
  3. I want to address this specific point about Chip being a "multiple offender." I would agree, however, his offense seems to be that he ships late, has poor communication, BUT he will eventually deliver the books that were purchased. I have not heard from anyone that has paid for books and not received the goods (current transactions are still pending as he appears to be in the process of shipping). To me, that behavior is not HOS worthy. It's a nuisance and I wouldn't want to deal with it, but it is not the level of malice that I require for a HOS vote. I asked you once earlier today, before the flurry of discussion....where do you place the GoFundMe deception in this entire saga? And for that matter where do you place his disappearance after accepting funds in November followed by his claims of inability to contact anyone or ship anything due to losing his job, etc. but leaping on craigslist opportunities demonstrating both means and time that he denied having? Does serial lying in the midst of business dealings along with attempting to induce monetary donations under false pretenses move the needle at all? It would seem someone who only fulfills his obligations when the hammer is brought down on them and deceives and lies and hides until he's left with no other option is a pretty low bar for honest dealing. I didn't see your post about the GoFundMe fiasco. I participated in that charity thread and I was pissed after more information came out. I felt taken advantage of; however, I don't think his deception was intentional. I think he believed that paying off his paypal loan was part of his emergency. It should have been disclosed where all the money he was asking for would be going, but we also should have asked for a more itemized list from the get go. I thought it was on the shady side, but withholding information is not the same to me as actively providing false information. They're both bad, but the latter is worse. I don't see Chip as the master manipulator that seems to be the consensus. I don't give him that much credit. His tendency to wait until pressure is applied is also troubling, but not decisive for me. The fact is that he is now fulfilling his obligations when his fate is all but sealed on this forum. In other words, he's already been smashed by the hammer this time, but he is still following through. I think his behavior is poor and I wouldn't deal with him without significant safeguards in place, but I don't think his behavior is HOS worthy. I reserve the HOS for people like GoodsNewsComics. Adding my thoughts on the craigslist incident. I don't put much weight in the idea that his searching craigslist proves he had the time to ship his books. It literally takes 5 minutes to do a quick craigslist search and send an email. My emphasis earlier on the value of the hypothetical star wars lot is important here. If the lot was worth $300 and he would have to pay $150 plus driving to acquire it; that is far more damning to me than if the lot was worth $1000 and he could quickly flip it in which case clearing a quick $700 for someone in his current situation would make sense. That money he would have spent on the Star Wars lot should have been used to ship out orders that had been paid for already. So if he was fired from his job all he had was time, don't get your logic here.
  4. Love all this back and forth discussion. Fact is he will be added to the HOS. Chip appears to always do what is in his best interests and only fulfills his obligations to the absolute minimum when his feet are held to the fire. Mental illness or not if the reason he cannot hold up his end of a deal is a result of some illness he has, he has no business buying and selling collectibles here or anywhere else. He's no longer a YMMV seller. I still can't get over his last post here stating these discussions had nothing to do with him now finally getting in touch with folks but rather he lost his job and wanted to get these out before he no longer had time to do so. He's a pathological liar.
  5. Voted. Thanks for the detailed write up Buzz
  6. You all are not maybe seeing this from Chip's perspective, I think his plan would be to buy the action figures for X and flip them for more money thus being able to provide better for his daughter? * insert sarcasm here*
  7. It didn't. I got fired from the job I've been working and am cleaning up unfulfilled transactions before I lack the time to do so again. Also, let me eliminate the debate in this thread. Place me on the PL and then the HOS if you so desire. I understand the need and want by the membership here as well as the reasons for doing so. I apologize for any ill feelings I've caused. Thank you all for reading. You have got to be kidding me. You expect us to believe they suddenly would have gotten tracking updates today if not for this discussion. What gave you the impression we are all that naive? Honestly? IMO because collectively as a whole we are naive. We've enabled him to keep up this behavior with little to no real repercussions. He's a master manipulator of a situation, plays at heartstrings, and is super nice in addressing the boards all in an attempt to mute what most would really call criminal activity. Of course he's full of BS in his post here, but some of his white knights will come up and defend the indefensible as before. We all know he showed up because PL was being discussed and that was the ONLY thing that compelled him to get things moving. I'm just glad some of the boardies will hopefully get their items. Don't want think about for every 1 that comes forward how many people we don't know about that have been screwed over.
  8. I am happy and sad at the same time reading this....
  9. Your post brings up an issue that has been discussed many times in the past. If he makes good on everything he will eventually come off the PL yet it is unlikely he goes in the HOS. I can just imagine the debate that one will be. So that would mean he is on no real list despite repeated offenses. What's the alternative? Has anyone ever suggested what to do with serial offenders that go dark after a deal and only resurface when talk of PL or HOS reaches them to complete a deal? I'd love to see something that addresses this type of scenario.
  10. This was yesterday at 6:30 AM. I believe the 72 hours time has passed. I will add him to the list. He WOULD be nominating him not that he was nominated. Don't think the time is up yet Trying to find a relevant post in this muck that has been created here today. Does anyone seriously think that Gotchaman's PM to him does not suffice as notice? I'm all for rules and all but this really seems like splitting hairs. I think the issue is the 30 day rule. A nomination cannot be made and therefore a PM notification cannot be made until after 30 days have elapsed from the time of the first agreement to transact. In my experience this 30 days has always been strictly observed. He's talking about the 72 hour period between nomination and addition. There is a difference between notification to the party and official nomination. Here's his original post I still don't get why it's does not suffice. Did anyone PM Gotcha to ask if he can explicitly tell him he "is" nominated vs he "would" be nominated? Smh at all of this.

  12. I think he still gets 3 days to respond. Correct. We still need to do it right. I am still sick and a little overwhelmed with the buzz here the past few days so...did someone send Chip a PM telling him he has 3 days to reply here before being put on PL? If so, when, so we can begin the countdown. I believe gatchaman stated that he notified him 3 days ago. This was my understanding as well.
  13. So can one of the board elders get the list updated please? Thanks.
  14. Sadly I think Chip needs to go on the PL. Looks like the rules were followed and he was notified and failed to respond, regardless of his personal circumstances. Between this and the other folks who have come forward in the last couple of days I think enough just cause has been presented. No excuse for having the time to update Facebook but not have the time to get in touch with folks here whose funds he took. I don't think the folks that came forward hoped for the best when paying for an item and were ok with not receiving anything as others may be. If/when Chip pulls it together and wants to sell and/or buy on the boards again he can works towards getting himself off the PL. PL is appropriate given his circumstances although I'm sure many will think this is HOS behavior and they wouldn't be wrong.
  15. Goes to pattern of conduct. I'll allow it. I remember that thread. Talk about savage rage monkey....
  16. I vote we get this definition updated to state "no more than 5 days". I think some wars were fought and won in less time. We're not talking about an Action 1 here.
  17. +1 Hopefully the PL or threat of PL acts as it was intended, and compels the party to make things right. Especially in this case, the 'extras' may not assist in the 'compelling', but rather may have unintended and possibly extreme ancillary effects. Tend to agree. I thought some dealers here actually consign(ed) books to Chip to to sell? Might be mistaken but was it Vintage Comics or someone else? Curious if he has followed through on those transactions and is in contact with anyone. He can't be that difficult to get a hold of if he's updating his Facebook.
  18. Too much attention on this one to go quietly into the night until some finality occurs. There are only 2 outcomes, Cav will get this book or he won't. Once either occurs it will subside. TBH I wish the mods had not moved this from the sales forum...
  19. Chip Cataldo? Yes I see he has not posted since 11/16. Sorry this happened to you but hope he is ok as I know he has been having difficulties on the personal front. So just to clarify what was the last date you heard from him? Adding: Did he read the PM?
  20. And we appreciate you wanting to warn us. Please go back and read the last few pages, pay particular attention to what POV posted where he listed a few steps to follow. It's really not that difficult and will ensure that protocols are followed. Please remember that facts do matter around here. As a simple example, above you stated he has not sold on here in years, looks like he has sales feedback from March of 2015. People around here will pick that statement apart as minor as it seems. Thanks.
  21. I'd like to throw a kudos out to the mods for allowing this thread to stay active in the sales forum....
  22. Don't get all crazy on us now. It's required. We should all know the norms of buying and selling around here by now written or not.
