The article is a great example of how comics very rarely ever appear to be a bargain at the time they are up for sale. It's usually only in retrospect, for those who were bold enough to take the plunge, that they became bargains. For the cheapskates and wimps, they just become "Woulda coulda shoulda" stories that they bore us with ad nauseum.
Hey...I resemble that remark...

That looks like an international/UK variant. The US version has it spelled "Catalog". You're welcome.
That's funny. I got that catalogue at the Cherokee store, then took it home and read it on the chesterfield...

Wow, what an artifact. But it only counts if you show some of those interior pages with prices that chizzler Burt was charging…
I'll get right on that...

Try saying “your books are way over guide and they are not even mint” to any dealer nowadays when you are interested in his books and see how they respond.I say that all the time. Just ask Robot Man...

On 9/4/2023 at 8:07 PM, tth2 said:$25 for a comic in 1967 seems really pricey to me.
Just imagine how many copies of AF 15 you could've bought for $25!
In 1966 there was a copy of Batman 11 in the window of Cherokee Book Shop for $25. It sat there for years until it was extremely faded by the sun. In 1966, if you could find a copy of Action #1 it would have been $100. I saw one at Collector's Books that year, but $100 might as well have been a million dollars for me back then.

I went big for one last night. I know at any given time there's like 30 of these in VG- or worse shape for sale on eBay, but I like the genuine file copies and this one has the best back cover of the 3 Baker Lassies IMO. Love the painted covers by Gollub too.
I took your advice and picked up a so-called 6.0 on ebay for 11 bucks...It's good to be ME...

Maybe cheap, but you always seem to score such high grade copies of these
Congrats!
Are they file copies?
No...and they aren't real high grade, just nice looking copies with good color. They are from an OO collection my LCS got in this week. There were a lot of nicer looking copies, but I didn't care for the covers that much, so I passed on those.

Depending on the price I would probably pick up a bunch of those.
It was $30 for both of them ($15 each) or ($20 for #130 and $10 for #155). I guess that's cheap enough...

It's a good one...I'm going to look at the rest and see if I can upgrade more.

I have 2 Bethlehem books from 1959 with no stamps at all. I always wondered why mine had no stamps. Now I know...and I could care less. They're Dennis the Menace's...
