  1. I guess I am in the minority .... thought it was just ok, the first one was much better. I thought Ryan Reynolds was great (again) but found all the other characters lacking - especially Cable ......
  2. I would add the following (which would require bumping some off that list): Hulk 180, Daredevil 168, X-Men 109, X-Men 129, Marvel Premiere 1
  3. How was the show for everyone? Any Con reports or tales of big purchases
  4. Congrats to the Seller and thank you to the Mystery Buyer for removing the temptation of selling a kidney Awesome book - love seeing sales like this on the boards!
  5. Hmmmmm - its almost like there is a lot of speculation and market manipulation going on ........ Same thing happened with a Seller of a 7.0 at the end of July beginning of August - same copy sold three times on ebay (maybe non-paying bidders each time). I also question the $4K sale for a 7.0 after it had leveled off at around $2900-3200 - especially with 8.0s only selling for $4k recently.
  6. When I see books like this I actually do not understand how they exist .......... just stunning ....... wow!
  7. Why is GI Joe Special #1 with the McFarlane Spidey 1 Cover homage such an expensive book in 9.8 - is it rare or limited Print run? Or is just a hot cover like Tec 880? it is an awesome cover - it just seems very expensive relative to other GI Joe books.
  8. I don’t think Boardies are willing to pay asking prices that are $500 over last sold on GPA (sometimes more) plus when you look at GPA I think boardies realize those prices include selling fees - so why should a vendor here get over GPA and incur no fees on such a hot book ..... maybe I am wrong but I think that is why they sit here. I also think boardies have seen this roller coaster before and don’t experience the same sense of FOMO that others do. The book will level off and stabilize and I think there is a lot of speculation and price manipulation going on tbh - for example a 7.0 had settled somewhere in the $2900-3100 range a couple weeks ago (based on 5-6 sales) then all of a sudden a $4,000 sale for a 7.0 - why would that happen, why wouldn’t someone wait for the next copy to go on sale tomorrow (since are thousands of them)? I don’t think that sale is legit personally but every seller will now price their 7.0 above it ...... hmmmmm. Maybe I am a pessimist EDIT: For the record, I do think every seller can list a book for whatever they want and I don't blame a seller listing high on this book especially with the crazy prices that are being paid for this book - it is a tough book to price with the current volatility
  9. Still looking and I would really love a page from GL #46 (version 3) Just missed on a page recently (it sold a couple hours before I contacted the seller) thanks to a tip from a fellow boardie - so please let me know if you see anything!
  10. Plus anyone who owns a Hulk 181 has to own a Hulk 180 - it is literally the first appearance of the Character that said person obviously loves enough to spend a lot of Money on in buying Hulk 181 - I say this not to drudge up that debate, but rather I just don't get how one could own Hulk 181 and not 180 ........ Sadly right now I own 180 and not 181 hahahahahaha
  11. If done well - that would be great!
  12. Not saying they are the same level of introduction of the character - but they are both Cameos and not "First Full Appearances" - I think the whole of idea of cameo vs first appearance is silly, let alone trying to then have gradients of cameos. FF48 is much more impactful for Galactus then Hulk 180 is for Wolverine - there is no doubt. However, they are both cameos and the fact remains that FF48s value is from the Silver Surfer and FF49s value is from the first full Galactus. Point being that a true Silver Surfer fan needs both (as well as FF50, SS1, SS3, SS4 at least).
  13. Nicely done - such a great run! Now just to re-holder them all to the new holder for consistency purposes (I am kidding - kind of )
  14. I agree with you - and also feel your pain on FF5 - a book I really wanted, but fear has passed me by (I also really love FF3 for some reason and am glad it has not soared yet).
  15. Maybe not in isolation - but the fact that the rapid price increase happened to coincide with the Fox/Disney news almost certainly means there is speculation baked into the current prices (same with FF1's rise, Silver Surfer 1's rise, and even Hulk 181's rise). That does not mean that some of it is not end user driven - but to say there is no speculation on FF48 pricing (not saying you are saying that) would be laughable.
  16. But 49 is a cameo for Galactus - just like 180, just like Spider-Man 299, just like Jimmy Olsen 134. FF48 derives it’s value from first Silver Surfer and FF49 from being first full Galactus. I agree that FF48 is much more impactful than IH180 as the reader knows it is all about Galactus. But if somehow cameos are not first appearances (which IH180 is clearly the first appearance of Wolverine) than I don’t think it makes sense to start saying one cameo is more than another (ie. I don’t think there can be a cameo scale). For the record I love the cover to FF48 it is iconic and although it doesn’t have SS on it - it is an epic cover (something Strange Tales 110 CANNOT claim )
  17. But if Thanos is in there - he wouldn't have the gauntlet with him would he? Perhaps AV4 starts with Infinity War just being one of the million of possibilities that Dr. Strange saw with the time stone Nah - I think everyone is over thinking it - Captain Marvel joins the fight, Tony comes up with some "genius" way to solve the problem and they go after Thanos -Epic battle ensues and Captain America and a couple others (Hawkeye maybe) die in the fight (for real) and everyone else returns.
  18. I think the rise in price is related to: (i) the fact that books like FF45 and FF52 pushed way past FF48 value wise - that cannot happen, FF48 is the third most important FF book and a top 20 Marvel Silver Age key - no way the InHumans or Black Panther are as significant. The only thing keeping this book down value wise was supply and (ii) there is a healthy amount of speculation on this book and other SS books like FF49, SS1, and SS4 due to the Fox/Disney news - of all the books I expect FF48 and FF49 to retain the most value. I have a 6.0 FF48 (the Berk Copy) and a 7.0 FF49 (both bought literally a month before the huge run-up) - I hope FF48 prices subside some because I would love to pick up another copy (I always wanted a 9.2 of this book (when they were $2K))
  19. Top 20???? i would say easily top 5 if not top 3 IMO. # 1 and #5 and then #48 for me but I could see the argument for #4 (12, 2, 3 are also great) i think FF48 is a top 20 Marvel Silver age book But I am a huge Surfer fan so may be a bit biased
  20. Wondering what the options are for Rusty Staples - not so bad that it is discoloring the cover - but clearly rusty (the staples are clearly rusted, but no discolouration/bleeding to the cover - cannot tell inside because it is slabbed already). Am I correct that cleaning staples would be restoration? If so, I would assume replacing them would also be Restoration? Or would either of these get the CGC Conserved grade instead? Would it be better just to keep the book with its Blue Universal grade and hope the staples do not further deteriorate and damage the book? OR is it pretty much guaranteed that the rust will progress and eventually damage the book?
  21. Except that really wouldn't work for the big battle in Avengers 4 - who are they going to fight, a dead Thanos?
  22. It is also just one of my favorite marvel covers - don't quite know why, it just is Fine I have convinced myself that I will add it to my list of books to acquire - Especially since FF1 and FF5 are getting out of reach ........
  23. I do not disagree (although I do think that BA12 is a key - like it or hate it). I am very interested to see what happens to IM55 after Infinity War/Gauntlet runs its course (I personally am hoping it drops some so I can pick-up a copy as I feel it is overinflated). But anyway - back to the HOS92 discussion - it is not (and likely never will be) Hulk 181
  24. Depends - there were huge run-ups in New Mutants 87 and 98, X-Factor 6, Batman Adventures 12, Iron Man 1, Cap 105, FF53, etc. that once the movie was released a large portion of those run-ups went away - while some of these "key" books like BA12, NM98, Iron Man 1, Cap 105 kept some of the gains others fell hard after. It remains to be seen what will happen to a book like Iron Man 55 (I suspect it will lose some of the gains it has experienced but not all of it). I think HOS92 (and Hulk 181) will give back some of the gains they have seen, but will not fall back to pre-surge prices - however, I really have no idea
  25. Has the run-up in FF1 corresponded to a run-up in the other early FF books (I know 4 and 5 are on fire) but wondering about FF3 - which IMO seems to be massively undervalued (or maybe it has spiked as well for all I know)?
