Art behind glass: Show off your framed art!
Chillax23 replied to Stronguy's topic in Original Comic Art
Hahahahaha - ya I triple matted them with a foam spacer between the bottom mat and the next two to give it some depth. It may be a bit overkill - but I have a personal collection to both story lines, so these are keepers in my collection forever, so I thought I may as well spend the little extra to frame the way I wanted it done -
Thanks everyone - I figured it would likely run $3K minimum for a piece from his X-Men run and it seems like my suspicions were correct. I do not need a splash, just looking for a simple panel page - so I wills tart hunting

Trying to figure out if it is feasible to buy a Jim Lee page from X-Men #4, 5 or 6 from the 1991 series - and by feasible I mean I am trying to figure out what a Jim Lee page from this run would cost? obviously not looking for an exact amount - but more a range ie., $1,000-2,000 or $2,000-3,000 etc. Thanks for any help and feel free to PM.

Hello all, been lurking/posting/buying for awhile on the boards and have started selling. I have purchased quite a few books from established boardies so if you need any references just let me know and or check out my kudos thread here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9184022#Post9184022 Some rules and general information: 1) trumps any PMs or ongoing negotiations. 2) Shipping - I am located in Canada and everything will ship from here (no import fees for US customers as I understand it). I package very well and this book will be boxed and packed with extreme care. Shipping will only be to Canada or the continental U.S. Shipping will cost $10.00 (it will be more than this but I will cover it) unless stated otherwise 3) Acceptable forms of payment: Paypal only here. 4) No HOSers or problem children. Your $$ is no good here. I also reserve the right not to sell to someone on my personal do not sell to list. It would help if the buyer is a member with solid feedback on the boards (PM me to discuss if you have little or no feedback please). 5) All prices in $USD. 6) All slabs are in great shape unless noted otherwise (I will make specific notes where needed). 7) No returns on CGC graded books. 8) If you need more photos I am happy to accommodate - just let me know (sorry for the glare - I don't have a scanner ) 9) Feel free to PM me offers or questions. Wolverine #2 CGC 9.8 - White Pages - from the 1988 regular series - the first 10 issues have great back cover Wolverine Images - Asking Price: $70.00 Wolverine #10 CGC 9.8 - White Pages - from the 1988 regular series - it was when published the 1st Wolverine vs Sabretooth story - but I think there was a retcon somewhere along the way - Asking Price: $100.00 Batman 497 CGC 9.8 Newsstand Copy - a very tough book to find as a 9.8 Newsstand - GPA has a couple sales denoted as newsstand with the last couple of sales at $300.00 and $330.00 - Asking Price: $245.00 SOLD

Sony's SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE (2018)
Chillax23 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Thinking about taking my 5 year old so. (well a few months shy of 5) - wondering whether it is too scary? So for those that have seen it - is it too scary for a 5 year old and if yes is it just certain parts? ie. I am ok taking him for an hour or so if that would work. For reference he has seen Big Hero 6 and was ok with it. -
Just saw it tonight ....... the Good: it was visually very well done, Black Manta and Ocean Master were good comicbook representations, it was a fun turn your brain off movie, the Bad: the acting was not great and the writing/dialogue was terrible, story line was predictable, and a lot of plot holes. Overall not a good movie - it was better than Suicide Squad and Justice League, but much worse than BvS and Wonder Woman and Man of Steel

Well this sounds like fun - thanks in advance, I am very interested in these results

Any safes you can recommend - just starting to research, so would appreciate a shortcut/reco

Thinking about picking up a safe and I read through this thread: and was wondering what safes people on this board were using for storage of CGC slabs at home? I am thinking about picking up a small/medium size safe to store about 10-12 slabs and was looking at some options from Sentry like this one: https://www.sentrysafe.com/product/SFW123GSC But cannot find too much info about the fire-proofing materials they use. Wondering if I should forego a fireproof safe OR if using silica packets (and changing every few months) would take care of the problem - the thread linked above is a bit inconsistent. So looking to see what people on the boards are using and how long they have been using them (without incident)? Not as concerned about Fire as I am about theft.

Finally back in the club! It has been two years since I sold my 8.5 so happy to be back in - even if I had to settle for a lower grade copy

eBay - 15% off comic clatter!!! And most everything else!
Chillax23 replied to lizards2's topic in Comics General
Was just going to post this coupon - now someone use it on my ebay listings - same seller handle -
Wow - this thread never ceases to amaze - especially with a Tec 27 sighting I had a big year (by my standards) on rebuilding my collection after I sold most of it for a house down payment two years ago (which was well worth it for me and the family). I was really sad when I sold my Showcase 22 - so was thrilled to pick-up the copy below. I had been hunting a Batman 47 in low grade for A LONG time and the house purchase delayed the acquisition - so I was SUPER PUMPED to add it to the collection this year and it is my first Golden Age Book as well. I couldn't decide between my thrid and fourth place - as I had wanted both a Superboy 68 and Avengers 4 for quite some time, so I am going to cheat and add both in I should note that ALL of these books were obtained from fellow boardies as well - and that (among other things) is why this forum is so great! EDIT: I also have a Hulk 181 CGC 5.0 on its way, but no good pic to share - it would bump the AV4 and Superboy 68 down - and it was also obtained from a fellow boardie (I can't wait to get it in my hands as I have been sad about selling my 8.5 copy a couple years ago)
-
Had a smooth transaction with Remy for a Hulk 181 - he was great with shipping and kept in constant contact until the book arrived. Thanks again!

Hmmmn maybe I should discount my fixed price listings by 5-10% to further incentivize

Why is ASM1 so expensive relative to it's peers?
Chillax23 replied to s14roller's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
ASM1 is a great book and while AF15 will always be THE KEY spidey book ASM1 is certainly next in line and a top 10 Marvel Silver Age book. What I wonder is whether/how much more ASM1 would be worth if it contained the First Spider-Man - i.e., I think if Spidey appeared in ASM1 first (and AF15 did not exist) then ASM1 would be more expensive than AF15 currently is - or to put it another way, I wonder how much more AF15 would be worth if it was also the start of Spider-Man's flagship title ....... obviously we will never know what the delta would be, but I think it would not be insignificant. -
I also prefer #3 (but am actually more drawn to #6) - BUT I think #14 is the bigger "key" (but #3 is more difficult to find than 14 for what it is worth).
-
Agreed - but Stormshadow is pretty close in popularity IMO - but definitely Snake Eyes on the Joe side (but Road Block, Sgt. Slaughter and Duke were personal favs as well )

Awesome book!!!
