oldbsturgeon reacted to AJD in Bry is going to destroy his AF15 for a blue label
His comment on totally being up to pressing an AF15 himself but he's not prepared to show us has a strong "my girlfriend goes to another school" vibe!

oldbsturgeon reacted to F For Fake in Batman in the Copper Age
That will be fun, lots of great books in there. At one time I had 400 to current, which was somewhere in the Rebirth/Tom King era, when I finally decided I didn't need them anymore. But that run from 400-714 or whatever it was, that's a some great stuff. Several "classic" runs and stories within those 300+ issues.

oldbsturgeon reacted to Cpt Kirk in Batman in the Copper Age
Great goal!
I wonder who still has all the Batman issues ever published. That would be a very small group I believe. I have 100 (original series and up) and approximately 30 of the first 100 issues.

oldbsturgeon got a reaction from ADAMANTIUM in Modern Age Batman
16 books to go for 608-713.
I've been toying with the idea of going post crisis to then, which would start at the year one story, just don't know if I feel like doing that or not. I am trying to get the big one out of the way, 423, but it's tough finding a raw copy I am okay with getting.

Seems like the guy just wanted a combined invoice?

oldbsturgeon got a reaction from universal soldier in Best shops to visit around Myrtle Beach?
Oh yeah forgot about players choice. I bought stuff there in April.
they had a lot of books, lots of newer stuff, but there was a huge variety.
like I said follow coastal comics on FB to keep up to date with the hours. From what I could see on their page, there is some medical issues likely which is why the hours can be wonky.

oldbsturgeon reacted to BA773 in What's the longest series run you collected?
Hmmm... i think DC will never stop with this freaking legacy numbering, for me that just poor. They have to stop to live with the past! If they regrets to had restart to n°1 they just have to assume now.

I haven’t totally decided but I suspect I may be working on this as well

oldbsturgeon got a reaction from mec3437 in What's the longest series run you collected?
So I used to have:
Ultimate spiderman complete
Wolverine vol 1/2/3 (up to that point) complete
All the blackest night books
All the civil war books
Batman new 52 complete 3 different times
Immortal Hulk complete
Every DC Bernie Wrightson cover
Now I am currently looking at a modern batman run, but still have a ways to go on it.

coastal comics in surfside the town over from MB. it should take you about 20 min to get there from where you are at, depending on traffic
by far the best store in the area. his hours are a bit weird so would suggest following his facebook page to check that day. I went on a wednesday last month while I was there for vacation.

oldbsturgeon got a reaction from The Commissioner in Modern Age Batman
I got 55/56 together for 74 which I thought was good for the pair.

I feel like it has been a tough time to buy 655. Prices for that book have skyrocketed in the past few months.

oldbsturgeon got a reaction from Point Five in Modern Age Batman
Yeah it was really cool for sure. The 66 batman was super cool to see.
For 608-713, I have 27 books to go.
I had picked up 655 and 656 last week for a pretty good deal so the rest are all fairly common books in the run.
on new 52, I now have 1-17, getting death of the family story arc last week.

It's been about 2 weeks so I feel like I can post these pictures now.
I absolutely loved seeing Michael Keaton and Adam West in the most recent issue.

oldbsturgeon reacted to acistaro in $20,000 AF15 Comic Book STOLEN at MegaCon 2023!
As someone new to selling books at shows on my own, and as someone who used to assist my Dad selling at shows in the 80s and 90s, I can attest that there is no difference in the morals of sellers, buyers, and random thieves between then and now. And based on the words of wisdom of my late Grandfather (who never sold a single comic book) - "Keep your wallet in your pocket.", I would assume crime has never been low enough to be flippant about it at any time period in history.
Keeping the expensive stuff behind the table in plain view is Comic Show 101 - and I'm not going to debate whether this is victim blaming or not - just pointing out the obvious way to avoid being a victim. Hope the thief gets caught, but I also hope others learn to setup their stands to minimize their chances of having their stuff stolen.
