  1. No you're right it's not something that they said it's a read between the lines deal, they're staring with her new series and working their way to making the toys then the tv show and movie. In that case I wouldn't have bought the slab if I were you. "I" might have considered it because I'm not in the hole, but IMHO you should've scooped up HG raw copies to sit on I have three HG copies and considering getting another from my lcs.
  2. That's because as it stands the only thing to do with aphra and hype is she is to be getting her own solo comic title (as per a leaked image and a tweet). No movie, no TV show. For now Of course. Disney is super excited to invest over $100 million on a solo Star Wars movie for a character who has been around for 22 comic book issues. That is definitely Disney's plan! Actually 25 and you're right they probably don't plan on doing it right now but if they didn't want to invest in her they wouldn't make toys of her and another new series right after the last DV comic.
  3. I did buy it two weeks ago but it was more cost efficient to make a little pile of comics and have me send that then one or two at a time. Yeah, when iceman reminded me of that above I remembered that you did this. Does your friend open any of these packages to check condition, check pages, etc? You may not want months to go by before you figure out that some of these deals that were too good to be true actually were just that. Yes he checks to make sure they are there and as described by the seller, he sends me pics and I give it approval before he ships it out.

  6. December 2nd isn't that far off and neither is halloween. That said it's not like I'm going to hold the comic forever, as soon as I get the chance to sell it with the hype I will because it will happen. What does December 2nd have to do with nycc or fcbd? What does Halloween have to do with nycc or fcbd? What happens if your hope friend is wrong and your are waiting for months. Going to try and sell it or hold for another year hoping to see it move? Now the hype has died down a bit and you can only sell it for 70 shipped then what? December 2nd is that date when the trailer for her solo movie is going to air Halloween is when they may announce her I don't see my friend being wrong and they also announced they'll be doing a tv show about her. I won't be waiting too long on this and this is the cool down/price adjustment period so selling now would only guarantee I lose money. Can you link to the TV show announcement? Thanks. Sure let me find it

  9. My biggest qualm with the entire thing is the acronym DV as if the Darth Vader comic is a well known established series. It's easier to say but the series is pretty popular imo.

  11. The point of this right now isn't to have it overtake my job right now but do this as a side thing. Getting out of debt is just one of those steps as well as learning to be more aggressive in my offers and actually understanding the market of the book I'm buying as with the DV 3 CGC 9.8 Well, you didn't know the market of that DV #3, someone told you about it. The jury is still out on that one and don't quote the $90 and $100 sale because it needs to go up a LOT more for it to matter to you. Yes you have a point but those sales were enough to push the 90 day average from 65 dollar to 74 which is about what I paid for shipping. Also another copy just sold for 110 and I watching the book before I bought it as well, the fact that people are willing to pay over gpa means this news is catching on and people are realizing this. I know my friend is that one that told me about it but I chose to listen to him as well. What is the minimum price you could sell your DV #3 at and feel happy about it? I'm not saying selling it now either, I mean after any hype hits. I would content with selling it for 140-150 which isn't too much of a stretch considering what they're going for right now and copies under 110 are being bought quickly. Is that really worth your time? You paid $87, if it sells for $150 minus whatever fee / shipping your net could be $50 or less. I think unless you're going to start dealing in volume you should avoid books like these...just my opinion. And yes, I realize at this point any profit is a good profit I hate to encourage Gabe but, if I'm being honest, $40+/- profit on a book you paid under $100 for is really good. I'd do those kind of sales all day long. So would I...but how about once every couple of months? Sure. Anytime you can hit that kind of margin, you've gotta be happy. The more, the merrier (of course), but even one like that is a "win". For sure I can't complain because I'm making a profit. Turn it over quick. That's how you do it. Do you still have that Betty & Me 16? I'll Paypal you right now for it. I don't have it in hand as it's being shipped to me but as soon as I'll have it I'll pm you.

I'd do those kind of sales all day long. Thanks though I should have negotiated a better price You could have tried, I suppose. But if you can put it up for $130 and sell it as soon as you receive it, you did pretty well. However, I have to caution that it's a risky game buying "hot" books to flip. Don't be the last guy holding the potato. I won't be for two reasons. 1) I'm waiting this book like a hawk and it's phases 2) Hype will always catch someone as will greed so I will act as soon as word gets out.
  15. The small budget - never a way for him to get out of the hole quick. IMO - it was a great learning tool for him to not chase bigger deals and lay out $$$ and assume more risk. I would rather have seen him actually stick to the budget for several months - and learn the basics. Would help him a lot with money management on a small scale. Then - increase the budget slowly. As it stands - he only followed the budget for 2 books - then jumped off of the page and started making "exceptions" to justify his spending. Hope the IH180 deal does work. Until book is in hand, always a risk given some of his past transactions. He wasn't/isn't ever going to follow a budget (regardless of the amount). Did anyone really think that was going to be the case? But he is following it. New money earned from the part time job is only allowed to contribute $11 per week for new stock. If he sells already existing inventory he can use that money to buy what he wants as long as he can afford it. If he somehow loses all that money, he'll have nothing left to spend and will be just using the $11 per week for comics. Yes 100% yes! you understand what I'm saying. Not sure if I should congratulate or pity you. Haha you can do both if you want.

  17. You don't have to, but I would find it interesting if you listed paid for / sold for as well. Up to you of course Sure Gwenpool Secret wars Paid $0 Sold for $15.22 Batman 361 Paid $1.31 Sold $2 Batman 365 Paid $1.31 Sold $2 Fees paid? I find it unlikely that all three sales prices after fees were exact dollar amounts. The gwenpool was a consignment and that's calculated after fees and the batman comics were brought from me outright so no fees or anything. That exact dollar amount is because I converted it to USD from CAD except the bats since they're from the long box I'm keeping that CAD for now Your commission on the Gwenpool book was $15.22? No that's what I got after fees and I got for it free which is why you see a zero is the buy column If the Gwenpool was a consignment what did you make on the book? If the book was yours it wasn't a consignment. If it was a consignment and you made $15.22 that would be your commission. If $15.22 was the sales price that wasn't what you got as a commission. Please clarify. Ok I'll do my best 1) I got the comic for free 2) I sold it for 20 CAD after consignment fees because I took it to my local lcs for him to sell 3) I converted from CAD into USD 4) It equaled $15.22 USD profit since I got this comic for free That makes sense. I thought you meant the book had been consigned to you to sell for a client. My mistake. How did you get it for free? I just post up ads looking for free comics and say anything will do. People know as well as I do that they can take up a lot of room so that works to my advantage as they'll be more willing to let it go. I've done it three times so far and sometimes it takes a while for a response but hey it's free.
