  1. Agreed on the volitality and fluctuation of price in something like this. Always been a fan of captain marvel and felt the "first appearance" designation given to Whiz 2 was tainted. Definiteyl hope to have a copy of this specific Ashcan in my collection one day.
  2. Yup...saw that....I felt that was a very good price.... but maybe Im wrong. What do you guys think? It might be considered a good price, but there are so few sales to compare it with that it's difficult to draw any solid conclusions. If 3-5 more collectors with deep pockets decided they wanted to collect ashcans, it would change the landscape. good point. Ashcan aside though, wouldnt this attract 1st appearance collectors? I wonder how a superman aschcan that predated Action 1 or Spidey ashcan that predated AF15 would play out

  4. Hey Gator, been thinking about tracking down an aschan Flash1 Captain Thunder. The one that sold on Comic connect further spiked my interest and is still attainable valuewise in comparison to a Whiz 2 in nice condition. Will it have an upside in value in the future or is it better just to go after a low grade whiz 2? Thanks
  5. Im pretty sure the owner of Blastoff was a part owner of Earth 2 before opening up his own store.
  6. Was that movie hype? Very unimpressed with The Vision in A2, and one of my favorite Avengers as a kid. Killer covers on 57 & 58 I think it's safe to say almost everything is movie/tv show related hype now. +1. And to that end, Av57 will move back up as soon as Vision appears in the next Captain America Civil War trailer, which is probably a couple of months away. (Viz didn't appear in the trailer released last week.) I would agree. I suppose now is a good time as ever to grab a copy. Has anyone seen any major books take downturns recently? I'm talking about JIM83, Avengers #1, etc. I think I've also seen a decrease in demand for TTA #35. TTA 27 for sure, Strange Tales 110, even Hulk 1 seems to have slowed down and fallen a bit in mid grade.
  7. Risen from the ashes. Also interested in trades for comics: 1) Hulk 181 2) Spidey 129 3) FF 1 4) Early Captain America Comics 5) Daredevil 1 6) High grade DD 2-8 7) Showcase 4 8) Strange Tales 110
  8. When I first saw the trailer for X-men first class.... I thought what is this garbage, looks like nothing thats relevant to the original X-men and looked very cheesy. Then I saw the movie and was blown away. By far the best X-men movie. So Im hoping the same thing will be true of this FF movie.
  9. Seriously Punisher needs to be done in this format. I cant believe 3 Punisher movies and they still couldnt come close to getting it right. Netflix might finally pull it off.
  10. Rabid's Feedback thread. Thanks in advance
  11. Yup I 3rd that. Love the Yellow costume especially issues 5 and 6
  12. NICE my 2nd favorite DD cover after the number 6
  13. I think Daredevil 1 is ready to start doing some interesting numbers. A 7.5 just sold for $4800. I would have been suspicious if the sale was on ebay, but not on CL. if this is the rend 9.0 should be nearing 10k soon and 9.4's over 17k
  14. I only buy comic version PFs but that Keaton Batman is really tempting
  15. Wow. what a difference ten years makes. You could get a 6.0 AF 15 for less than that price in 2005. And that was after a big jump due to the first movie's hype
  16. Explain to me why it is going to sky rocket? Just because the board hates Sony's depiction of the Spidey movies the movies are a mega hits world wide. I don't see where a Marvel/Disney movie is going to demand a spike. Better movies maybe but has'nt the train left the station on AF 15? Maybe if some HG copies are flushed out and sell way over #s. But I'd say AF 15 keeps on climbing steady switch or no switch. Now if you told me Spidey villians might be finally done right and those should be hot I'd agree with that. I think he was speaking (typing) with a hint of sarcasm. And I would agree with you. The blue chip Spidey Villains should get a little push. 3,14,50,300 in particular. Can't rule out 4,15 & 20 either. Yeah, I was typing with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. We need to decide on a standard emoji to use when making a sarcastic comment. Obviously, AF#15 is already in the stratosphere as far as prices go. No movie is going to push it higher. Just like the Bats/Supes Movie (even if it's the best superhero movie ever) will have minimal (zero?) effect on the prices of Action 1 or Tec 27. Unless they update Superman or Batman's costumes to a more modern look.
  17. I cant remember which one was the first. But I started going to comic book stores in L.A. around 1989 a few years before I started driving: Superhero Universe (later moved locations and became Mega city comics) 1000000 comics (took over the Superhero Universe spot) Continental comics - probably one of the oldest stores that still exists in L.A. that still primarily does back issues Outer Limits comics (later became Forbidden Planet) Golden Apple comics A Collectors Dream Comics and Fun
  18. How hot $ do you think FF could get? I feel its just a natural progression. After AF15 got expensive, collectors turned to Hulk1 which in turn became expensive. AF15, and Hulk 1 are getting beyond most collectors means. I mean 1.0s of these books are selling for 5k. An FF1 in 4.0 range can still be obtained at that price. FF1 is historically very significant (more so than Showcase 4 IMHO which also goes for a huge chunk of change).
  19. I think FF1 is due to heat up soon. AF15, Hulk 1, even Showcase 4 have been scorching the last few years, but FF1 remains pretty stagnant.
