  1. There is an issue of either DC Superstars or DC Special, from the late 70's, that had both Flash's & Kid Flash running around Grodd. I think it's a Dollar Comic. Anyone know exactly which one. I'm thinking of hunting it down because I remember it from way back when at the newstand and I didn't buy it.
  2. While I own all of 3 Flash comics, the old title had some really great, unique covers. I own 2 already shown here in the Vandal Savage one (#137?) and the Superman Race for #175. Plus one in the late 70's with the jLA I bought just recently. But back when I first got into collecting in the late 70's, I did collect Flash for about a year. (I seem to remember Infantino returning at the time). My first store bought issue at the time had the Golden Glider I believe. I got rid of them in the mid-80's during college. Nostalgia hasn't driven me back to get them again yet.
  3. Those are beautiful copies. Very nice indeed.
  4. My X-Men period was from the late 70's/mid 80's and I thought Claremont did a very good job. The good/great outweight the bad. But he did have some dud's for me. The original Morlock stories did nothing for me at the time. I stopped collecting comics in 1985. But since I jumped back in in 1995, I've bought many of the mid-80's X-Men on. (I'm stalled in the 230's right now) Some of those storylines from the late 80's don't do anything for me. But, I may have to chalk that up to my age. The story arcs from the classic Claremont/Byrne era caught me at the impressionable stage of my early teens.
  5. 9.9! Wow! The issue itself never did anything for me though. I felt it was a "throwaway" of sorts.
  6. Nice work compiling that data. I think you hit on a point about thresholds in terms of grades. My budget for back issues might be $750 a year or so. And, I can rarely convince myself to spend it all on 1 book. I've been tempted, but I always want to plug a couple of holes in the collection when I do go to the Motor City shows. Since I'm not in it to turn a profit or make any money, I'm happy with my "levels" I set. It's a hobby I enjoy and I still love the nostalgia.
  7. For #1, it will probably be VG tops. 2, 3, 5, 6 are probably Fine or better. From there it's VF or better until the early 60's. If I ever get #94 or GS1, it would probably have to be a 8.5 or better.
  8. Old X-Men are a lot like my other big collection, old Justice League. Some of those SA issues are hard to read now. Of course, when I was a kid, I thought most of them were gold.
  9. Here's one I got yesterday. Perhaps one of the lamest covers ever. Heck, my LCS had this for years and in decent shape, but I never grabbed it til yesterday. [/img]
  10. My goal is to maybe concentrate harder on plugging the holes in my SA run of X-Men in 2007. I've been lacking in the last 2 - 3 years.
  11. Beautiful book. (And I'm sure the scan does it no justice. )
  12. Now if I would only stop being lazy and scan some of my X-Men in... (Actually it's the wait of uploading to Photobucket that drives me nuts. )
  13. Ah yes, fond memories of those great Byrne issues.... those were the days when I was younger.
  14. "Getting there" is a big part of the fun in this hobby. You have to start somewhere. When I started collecting Justice League in the late 70's, I never thought I'd ever own all of them. And now, many years later, I have all but #2. And it was the "journey" that's made it a big part of the fun. Relax, enjoy and take it in small steps.
  15. The late 60's X-Men books were hidden gems. The storylines had greatly improved from the garbage previous, as had the art/covers.
  16. Great covers. Even though I don't collect FF (well, just the 80's Byrne run), I still like seeing and reading some of these.
  17. Nice run of books. I should scan more in but I don't have the patience in uploading to Photobucket at times.
  18. Nah, I disagree on the #33. I've seen that one get some "love". The #64 is OK, but it made the FF too small and the Sentry too big for the cover.
  19. I've never seen that #73 before. Thanks for showing it.
  20. I'm not a big FF collector and my only run is the Byrne 80's run. But I bought this one today, though it was for the X-Men appearance. [/img]
  21. Wow, that's quite a collection. Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm sure that took considerable time.
