  3. Amazon Orders ‘The Tick,’ ‘I Love ,’ Jean-Claude Van Damme Comedies to Full Series COURTESY OF AMAZON SEPTEMBER 27, 2016 | 06:32AM PT Amazon Studios announced that it has greenlit three comedies — Jill Soloway’s “I Love ,” “Jean-Claude Van Johnson” and its reboot of “The Tick” — as original series set to debut in 2017. The half-hour series are “I Love ,” adapted by “Transparent” creator Soloway based on the feminist novel about a couple’s marital struggles in the artistic and academic community of Marfa, Texas; “Jean-Claude Van Johnson,” featuring martial-arts actor Jean-Claude Van Damme operating under an alias as the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world; and “The Tick,” a revival of the offbeat superhero story based on the popular comic. The new series orders come after Amazon released pilots of each show on Aug. 19; Amazon says it incorporates viewer feedback and ratings in deciding which TV shows to order as full series. “I Love ,” “The Tick” and “Jean-Claude Van Johnson” are slated to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video next year in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria and Japan. “These pilots were vast in scope, disruptive in tone, challenging in story and sometimes even funny,” said Joe Lewis, head of half-Hour series for Amazon Studios. “It’s rewarding to see customers embrace them in such a huge way. We can’t wait to premiere these series next year on Prime Video.”
  4. Vic is all good. We spoke a few days ago and he said he'd be away from the boards for a bit just to take a little break.
  5. I've finally acquired a copy of a New England Comics Newsletter #16 to complete the first three appearances of The Tick!
  6. Jason and I just completed a transaction in which he purchased a couple of books from me and it was absolutely flawless. Based of our transaction I would buy from him or sell to him again without hesitation, he was completely professional. Thank you again Jason, Kelly
  7. I wish that was a clue, this is a very difficult book to track down. I can't find a yellow #1 or #2 available anywhere and a clue like that would give me some hope! I believe the sticker is from CGC from when Vic sent it in along with a few other books in hopes of it being graded. Yet as you can tell from the sticker, they don't grade these ashcans due to how extremely difficult it would be to authenticate them. In reality it would be next to impossible due to them being nothing more than Xerox copies. Although Vic's may be the exception if it has the hand written notes in it I think it has.
  8. ? Thank you guys very much, the warm reception means a lot to me. I truly am very grateful for all the help I've received from a few of you to help me work on my dream set. Today has been an amazing day. I finally acquired a copy of a New England Comics Newsletter #16, Ticks 3rd Appearance. It has taken me a very long time to locate a copy of that book. So to celebrate I picked up another copy of a NEC Newsletter #14!
  9. I agree that they would be excellent additions to the registry as they are extremely important books to the history of The Tick. I did make a request that they be added to "The Tick: Ben Edlund Original Set" registry. Please read my post to Gemma in the "Set Expansion Requests" thread as I know they may be very difficult books to score. I provided as much information that I thought may be helpful, but I definitely would like the others who take part in this registry to state how they feel about the addition of them as well.

  12. Maybe. But you don't see "insides" through CGC slabs. So for as long as slabbing books is a thing, rare variants with popular covers will dominate. What happened with ASM 4 and UF 4 is an exception, not the norm (and why I never bought either). The fact that both of them ended up over ordered and blown out later, is again, not a surprise since those are indeed event "first appearance" books. -J. So you chose to not buy first appearance books of characters within the ASM family that you state you care for so deeply because you had a feeling they had a large print run for a 1:25? Why do you buy the comics in your signature line? Once upon a time I thought it was out of love for those characters, now it doesn't appear to be the case. Everyone has a right to collect what they want and why, I'm just trying to make sense of what you buy and why. If it's solely because you see them as an investment then you should just say that and stop playing games that cater to your arguments. Yet it does appear you buy them as invenstments as you are very quick to report the sales that trend upward and sheepishly make some excuse about a sale that's trending downward that conveniently someone else other than yourself brings up. So much passion is lost when collections are made solely as an investment in my opinion. Not to mention it's absolutely mad when some of those books you continue to argue are wise invenstments like the 1:blah blah JSC or the 1:blah blah Dell'Otto when the guts inside them are borderline meaningless to many of the storylines. To see them as continuing to dominate the market is as absurd as can be and horrible advice to be passing out to those that are less informed. Heck, even several members of your beloved variant threads have come and gone. Perhaps they knew it was better to cash out now while the books they were holding were being hyped, rather than gamble on the future. It is without a doubt a sellers market, especially on books you continue to hype with threads devoted to them. When it's no longer a sellers market these gutless variants you rave about are destined to be among the first to fall to an extreme price correction.
