  1. Please don't get sensitive it wasn't mean

as an attack on you personally. There are

people who go out there way to be negative

about this book and about anything else.

I believe you when say you feel for people

If the print run was higher. Its not immature

to point out the truth. :foryou:

Yeah but you don't see others rubbing it in that they own a copy. It's a great book and should be enjoyed by as many as possible. It's a shame that there were so few printed imo. It increases the value of the books but takes away from more people being able to enjoy a copy of the original.

  2. I think the big 3 will always be 1. NYCC 2. 1A and 3. Phantom. Once people realize they'll never own a NYCC unless you want to pay a ridiculous amount they'll go to the next best thing and that's 1A then Phantom. I always loved the art on 1A and in fact it's what drew me in to start reading the series so I could see 1A being the face of everything Enormous.

  3. People are spending $300+ on Ultimate Fallout #4 slabs (for some reason) and it looks like a bit less attention is going to Enormous right now.

There is a crazy amount of "hot" books right now.

Just means several will slip through the cracks.

Only so much money out there to be spent.

I can't remember the last time we had this many books that were on fire.

This is the part that concerns me. What sustains this momentum, and how does the momentum ease? Slowly or quickly?

I've thought the same thing for a while now. Every book is on fire now with no regard for print run or staying power of the character. $300+ on an Ultimate Fallout #4 slab is just dumb imo when I can buy a low grade Spiderman 129 for that price. Something has to give at some point.

  4.

Threw out an offer and was shut down quick, lol not even a counter offer.

Sent an email about the bottom corners... He said it was a bad camera angle and would send me better pictures tomorrow...

    What the

    Wait a second.

    What's going on here?

This is the SAME book that I SUPPOSEDLY was in communication with this seller yesterday and today about and had a price offered to me from him by email, and I just asked him last night for another pic of the corner and he emails me this morning that he'd send me a better picture tonight..... and now it's up on Ebay?

    ????

Was in talks with this party as well. He sent me pictures of the book but not of the back spine. Bad business and dishonest. Glad I saw this here. If someone's wanting any copy and doesn't care about the grade then this isn't a bad book to get you in the group but I'm out.

  5. I've got one in Florida. I don't care what grade it's getting just wanted it slabbed for my PC. Thanks again to Tim and The Authority for getting me on this book. It's been awesome being able to see the community grow and give their feedback directly to the creator. I don't think I've ever seen a book where that was possible. Glad to be a part of this amazing club and community!

  6. Ok, just for fun, we'll run the count(down) on the NYCC #1 book with Boardies, much like the TMNT folks do with their #1 1st print books.

    :whee:

Let's try to keep it to folks who have placed the book(s) in their collection with little to no intention of selling anytime soon. If someone does end up selling, we can put "SOLD!" next to their name.

(The Authority -- I think there was some confusion on whether or not you owned two copies from your comment at the bottom of Page 270 of this thread, so I'm leaving you out until further confirmation.)

    Let the countdown begin!

So you're talking around 50-60 copies that MIGHT be for sale in the open market when everything is said and done?! lol Glad I bought mine early..

  7. Check me if I'm wrong, but do the pictures (both the front and back cover) of this book look like the spine has been photoshopped (blurred)?

    hm

That IS my book and I can tell you that your are incorrect. There is no type of photo manipulation done on it. I don't roll like that. I scanned it at 300dpi. If you see something fishy in the photo, it is probably my printer.

All I can tell you is that I'm probably

one of the most honest people in this hobby/business. It can be a crutch sometimes but thats my disposition. I'm not a game player. I offer decent product, decent prices with excellent shipping practices.

In all of my dealings with fufat he's been extremely honest and forward with any of his policies or any faults with the books he sells sometimes even taking a loss because of it. Couldn't ask for a better seller.

  8. I've never had anyone retract a bid or refuse to pay on eBay, but I don't sell much volume, and I have never really been in the business of selling 'hot' books so maybe that lessens my exposure? I've never had anything returned either.

My only problems have been caused by the USPS, but considering the number of items I've mailed, if I'm being honest, those problems are few and far between.

I do agree that eBay is all about the buyer - seller's are definitely second class citizens! I've been saying for years that eBay is incredibly poorly positioned by almost every metric outside of user base. I can't believe they haven't been toppled by some start up or already established player, but I have to imagine it will still happen one day.

Ebay have put themselves in a prime position to get the rug swept out from under them. All it would take is an Amazon or other big player to start offering auctions with a 3-5% fee.

  9. Just sold a 1A book on the bay for $45; it had a slight blunt on the back bottom right corner. NM with 9.6-9.8 potential, but it had a flaw that would need to be addressed. I just stated the flaw in my description; didn't say anything about my thoughts on 9.6-9.8 potential. I thought my $45 was fair (especially when I bought below cover). It sold in <2 hours.

I get a flame mail from "baconcakebooks" stating I just killed the market with my presumably low ball sale.

1st time I've ever received a flame email for pricing too low. Anyone ever get a message like that? Have I just killed the ENORMOUS 1A market? Funny stuff.

Had a guy flame me when I sold a CGC 9.4 NM 98 for $250 right when it blew up. He stated I was bringing the whole industry down.

  10. I'm out here. Loving all the debate and discussion.

    - #7 won't be solicited for a bit. It's in the can though!

    - #7 is going to have a really cool ComicXposure exclusive in addition to the standard cover, alternate by Charlie Adlard & ComicConArt exclusives.

    - #8 we're currently working on it.

    - #9 I'm polishing the -script.

    - #10 outlined.

We're out with the trade next. Look for news on that over the weekend.

Then the Field Guide & Digital Files.

In and around all this, we're working on materials for the show. For real.

And the raffle is really going to happen, sooner than you might think! 23 books...everything published to date.

Congrats on the show Tim! Can't wait for the trade so I can get more people on board. I think my LCS has finally seen the light. He moved the remaining books he had from the back to front and center on the main shelf lol.
