  1. They do. The cover stock was far superior from '67ish on when they made the switch. What bleaching process are you talking about? Covers or interiors? I am confused too. I thought it was generally accepted that SA DC's were tougher to find with white pages than SA Marvels?
  2. Any updates on this or did the conversation just die off? I think the topic is worth revisiting. I've noticed an definite increase in upticks (upward green arrows) in GPA recorded sales numbers since this topic was started last year. My worry as both a dealer and a lifetime collector (since 1975) is obvious: an ever escalating price point at this rate creates an unsustainable market and will cause the market to crash back on itself because a) incorrectly reported sales prices are not based on actual sales prices created a market without actual fundamental support b) uneducated buyers will be left holding the bag when paying inflated prices and when they turn around and try to sell will be disappointed. We've seen this time and time again where people overpay because they are talking to the sale price by salesmanship and then leave the hobby in disappointment, never to return c) it ultimately creates a hindrance in future growth if the market corrects greatly in the future (comic's version of Black October) when pricing and actual sales are too far apart to reconcile. It's true (as noted earlier in the thread) that slow moving or rare books would be difficult to value because a high BIN could throw off a small data set of just a few books for a particular issue and the initial replies felt that just a few sales here and there were not a big deal. I agree. But I think the more serious problem is that high volume books like keys and hot issues (like copper and modern keys) will climb in price much faster if there is incorrect sales data recorded as for these books it happens on a daily basis, exacerbating the problem and since I see so many uptick / green arrows it worries me whether this is still happening or not. George (or anyone else), do you have any insight? @gpanalysis
  3. Just bumping this thread to see if this was ever addressed or if anyone has continued to track the differences in sales between BIN and actual sales prices?
  4. I'm only just reading this thread for the first time, hence the late reply but it's worth replying to. Jaydogrules, you can not have a book marked as sold on eBay unless someone actually commits to a purchase. MCS (nor anyone else) has the ability to tell eBay to mark books as sold if there is not a buyer committing to buy the book. Stating that MCS does it 'notoriously' is not only erroneous, it's libelous. No that's not what you said. You stated that a reputable dealer was 'notorious' for falsifying eBay data (see my quote of you above). I didn't enter this thread looking to troll Jaydogrules (I was reading up on something completely unrelated) but considering the posts are 3 years old and Jaydogrules is still showing a pattern of behavior of moving goal posts while discrediting good standing people in the hobby undeservedly (something that may not have been as apparent 3 years ago) I thought it was worth noting (and quoting) for posterity. Carry on.
  5. What I found most impressive about this movie was how easy it as to follow. Considering how many characters they had to juggle it could have easily been a hot mess, overly complicated and a failure. It was masterful. DC needs to take note. They could have made BvS into 3 multiple movies and it would have been a hit. Great work, Marvel. Feige is a genius and will be remembered as the mastermind when this Golden era of superhero movies passes.
  6. Neat. Never seen that before (as I've never owned a Showcase #1)
  7. Cal might actually have the last laugh with that book as both Iron Man and Sub-Mariner are being speculated on heavily in the last few years.
  8. I think Harley's limit is being in two places at once. Even he hasn't mastered 3 places at once...yet. Saw Harley in Phoenix this past weekend.
  9. Are you actually serious? That's beyond laughable coming from you. Like the invoice that shows the print run of your favorite variant? How about documentation of Voldy going bankrupt? You literally never have supporting documentation for your arguments. It's worth noting that since the chat forums have moved over to the new software, I have thought that "Liking" a post was a waste of time and effort. I don't think I've ever liked a single post on this chat forum. Until now. It was worth it.
  10. I don't own a single one. And so began in this thread your long litany of fallacies couched as facts and outright defamations that you now attempt to characterize as 'honest debate'. It's amazing that he complains about personal attacks but then has no problem dishing them out. Whenever someone disagrees with him he replies with the "I'm sorry you own Voldy stock" which is basically just code for "you're disingenuous and a kissing butt" Jaydogrules might be one of the most disingenuous and intellectually dishonest debaters I've ever seen.
  11. You've never explained it. But you've also made up nearly everything you've typed out of thin air. So, I get it: I'm not a lawyer and you are. That should make your points more clear and more sound, but it doesn't. Quite the opposite.
  12. See, this is a subtle jab even though you have no reason to put something like this out there. Anybody that knows me knows that I don't ever resort to below the belt behavior (not that posting Mitch's job online was) so stop trying to puff your own feathers. What Mitch does is not a secret. It's been openly discussed in the GA forum for years and all it would take would be a little Google time to figure it out. As far as you, YOU are the one that opened the door to people asking what you do for a job when you started trying to defend your WRONG position with a 'if only you knew what I did' attitude. Talk about spin. And if you had nothing to hide you'd be more transparent about what you do. Most are The only fact that has been proven in this entire thread is that literally NOBODY except Mitch has agreed with you (and believe me, that is not really going to help your argument)- not other lawyers, not civilized and respected board members. Nobody. 'nuff said.
  13. you must be the 1%... Mitch, you're doing exactly the same thing that Jaydogrules is doing. You are using a combination of speculation, sensationalism and catch phrases to try and prove you and some sort of factual point to make. You don't. The only people that know what's involved here are those that are directly involved with both the merger and the lawsuit. I would think that having legal experience you'd by the first to stick to the facts of the case and also support that belief that people are 'innocent until proven guilty'.
  14. Real Life Comics #3 CGC 3_0 OWW (deslabbed) for sale in the marketplace
  15. Real Life Comics #3 CGC 3.0 OWW (book has been deslabbed and is in Mylar, comes with CGC label) Asking $4500
  16. Betting man. You're a lawyer. You do understand how the law works, don't you? Like you, I don't know ANY of the details of the suit so it's completely pointless to speculate about outcome. You may as well throw darts in a windstorm.
  17. No, I'm just trying to stick to facts. You see a law suit and have already convicted them as guilty.
  18. You didn't make any points. Just wild speculation. Again.
  19. Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about yet again. My 'spin' about every business having growing pains was in response to someone stating that in the first 3 years Voldy had issues. As far as a rescue white knight (not night) that's just speculation on your part yet again. You what surprises me? That you're a lawyer considering your comprehension, spelling, grammar and logic are so bad.
  20. Doesn't sound like JC to me at all. JC used to rail about how the market was going to crash. Jaydogrules does the exact opposite.
