  1. Oh yeah , I've seen some insane collections, and they just go after the Spiderman stuff Absolutely. There are collectors that collect literally everything about their favorite characters and comics are just a small portion of it.
  2. I would generally not say just because a book was an outlier price that it must be upgradeable. That would be ignorant. But when I see an outlier price, look at the book, believe (with my experience) that it may have a shot at upgrade then I say it. And I'm often right.
  3. You don't think someone who upgrades books doesn't understand the risks? The owner still tried to upgrade the AF #15 5.0 even though people balked at me when I said it was likely (and they did upgrade other copies that also sold for record prices). My 1st instinct and my experience when I see a book sell for a new record is to assume it's upgradeable, short of some fresh news that nobody has heard. Just taking a book that goes for a 50% price increase at face value as the new market standard is both dangerous to the long term market (because it's unsustainable) and naive at this point in the hobby.
  4. Amazing Spider-man #300 CGC 9.8 White pages - perfectly centered with White pages. Asking $1800 - shipping included.
  5. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  6. That copy looked extremely sharp of an 8.5 and I wonder if someone is thinking it will upgrade to a higher grade.
  7. I would say yes if you can't fill the hole with a 1963 copy or afford one.
  8. So, all the pump and dump sites. There's so much BS pump and dump out there sometimes I just wonder if there are any normal people out there anymore.
  9. In watching the NBA All Star game tonight, it looks like Marvel is tying in some of it's marketing with the NBA All Star Celebrity game tonight in LA. Michael B. Jordan is coaching tonight (and being introduced as a star of Marvel's new Black Panther movie) and they have already mentioned that Kendrick Lamar will be performing music from the Black Panther movie. I guess my earlier post about this movie's music reaching a wider audience is on point since I don't remember Led Zeppelin performing at an NBA All Star game before.
  10. If I were to tell you that this is RockMyAmadeus, aka RMA, aka Lazyboy posting under one of his many shill accounts, would that answer this question? Knowing RMA personally I can state with a fair degree of certainty that it isn't him. It does sound a little like Lazyboy but why do you think they are all one and the same?
  11. What I said was that people would be more prone to see it if the soundtrack appealed to them. Your use of words like 'patently absurd' and 'laughably stupid' shows that you're about as mature as a 6th grader and since you're intent on being a jerkbutt I'll just agree to disagree. Here's another flower.
  12. Am I? This is what I said: I said that the musical score would add dollars at the box office and people would be more prone to see it. The fact that I did not use the word marketing specifically is irrelevant and a grasp at straws. It's obviously ALL a part of the marketing to get people in the door. Awesome, so you DO agree with me. Thank you. Nobody said they were. Where did you read that in my post? What I said was that the music increased the appeal of the movie and made them more prone to seeing it. But thanks for agreeing with me and then picking my post apart to find something to justify your 'patently ridiculous' comment. Here's another flower because I think internet arguments are silly.
  13. because the notion that the music used in a comic book movie is going to have any significant impact on ticket sales is patently ridiculous. I think saying it's patently ridiculous is patently ridiculous. I can tell you that when I heard the Immigrant Song played for the Thor trailer it nearly made me jump out of my skin as it was a perfect match. I would have seen it regardless but I have no doubt that a soundtrack can often sway people who are neutral and definitely people will notice music when listening to a sound track. The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack was so popular that it's become a phenomenon to itself. These are no longer 'comic book movies' and that is where you may not see the value of music. They are pop-culture fests and the more pop-culture you get for the dollar the more successful the film. They transcend comic books now. You don't think music has an affect on movie marketing? I think you're mistaken. Here's a couple of articles that demonstrate how difficult and expensive it is to use a Led Zeppelin song in a movie. https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/7/16613232/thor-ragnarok-led-zeppelin-immigrant-song-taika-waititi https://filmschoolrejects.com/led-zeppelin-hollywood-movie-trailer-music-9e16ab873187/ If they didn't have any significant impact then why do they spend so much time, money and effort on soundtracks?
  14. Sony Pictures Teams With Wizard World to Develop Comic-Inspired Projects (Exclusive) Article in the Hollywood Reporter. For years, movie executives and producers have scoured comic book conventions in the hopes of discovering an unmoored piece of intellectual property that could become the next big thing. Sony Pictures Entertainment is now formally making comic conventions a part of the movie development process by teaming with Wizard World, one of the largest producers of pop-culture fan expos. Sony and Wizard World will work to jointly discover new talent from across Wizard World’s numerous conventions around the country, optioning their work to incubate and develop these stories into various media. Sony Pictures Consumer Marketing executive vp, brand strategy and global partnerships Jeffrey Godsick, who will oversee the relationship for the studio, said Monday in a statement: “You’re not necessarily sure where the next great IP is going to come from. When you go into an Artists’ Alley or see the booths, you realize there is a lot of good work out there. Wizard World has a credibility in that world and with their help, we will have access and insight that is rare.”
  15. It's pretty obvious why they wouldn't. They visit several Canadian shows and they are not too far for all intensive purposes. It just wouldn't be worthwhile. Opening an office in London is a brilliant stroke. The population of the UK alone is nearly triple that of Canada and you have many other European countries surrounding.
  16. ...and not just gas but fresh, usable gas. How many years into the apocalypse are they now? Gas eventually goes bad. I actually don't know the answer to this for sure, but doesn't all the corn gas now have a longer shelf life? You have to work to find real gas anymore. It also depends on how the fuel was stored. Bad fuel will still burn, it just doesn't ignite as easily. You might have trouble running a fuel burning engine in cold weather but I don't think it's unreasonable to think that these cars would run on old gas in Atlanta.
  17. Fair point. But people tend to get their backs up. For example, Subby's identity has already been questioned multiple times over the last few weeks. For someone who is already being hazed for a few things, additional questions are just going to seen as more hazing. For what it's worth, I do NOT think Subby is SC22.
