  1. Gang, these books are priced at roughly market values but I will take 5% off listed prices. Shipping within North America is included, Rest Of World I will cover half. The Rulah comic is one I had difficulty pricing so I asked someone who knows that book for a price but if you feel my price is out of line I'm open to discussing it. PM me with any interest. Read more Take 8% off remaining books. Gang, I'm going to close this thread and move the books eslewhere. If anyone is interested in any books feel free to message me.
  2. I wish. Saw that old thread get bumped. Sold that copy years ago and never found a replacement.
  3. I think it explains why most collectible markets have exploded in the last 9 years. Near zero interest rates and people who have money don't have placed to put park it. Collectibles historically gain faster than current interest returns and so money is being poured into collectibles (and BITCOIN and real estate, etc). Cars, comics, cards, real estate, crypto-currencies are all rising at rates that are making people's heads spin.
  4. I don't see any hatred for AF #15. I see some people who are sad that they may not be able to afford a copy and I see a few people perplexed at the price increases because they can't find the logic to explain it. I think the only hatred is towards posts that are fixated on value alone and this chat forum has always been protective of it's culture in the sense that they've always preferred content and quality over just money. But big dollars will bring in a big difference in opinions.

  6. I'll give you $2 extra for it then. Not to add insult to injury, but he accepted payment in Canadian dollars. I should have offered it in BITCOIN !!

  8. Not likely due to the ownership (just like I don't think the Cage copies carried much of a premium) but many of the books are so special they'll fetch premiums all on their own.
  9. Passion, dedication and money. If you want good stuff and have money to spend dealers will put you high on the list when something up your alley comes in.
  10. I tried hard to pry that book from the seller's hands but he told me it was already taken. I had it a feeling it was you.
  11. I read something called 'the speed of money" years ago when the stock markets crashed in 2008. It's something we talk about from time to time in the Watercooler. This is a short excerpt from a conversation we had last year on the same topic. Another trend that is becoming common in all markets. Information travels so quickly and the 'speed of money' has begun to travel so quickly, everyone is afraid of getting caught on the wrong end of the pendulum swing. Fear seems to rule the markets in this uncertainty. What I find scary is that right now you can place this conversation in any market that's had strong appreciation over the last decade - stocks, cards, comics, cars, etc.
  12. That book was likely upgradeable and sold for crazy money because it was potentially upgradeable. That's not a true bench mark in my books. But, current owners of copies want that to be the benchmark and if the market accepts it I suppose it will be one of sorts.
  13. Silly GAtor, the internet is not for phones.
  14. FYI, "con" is short for "confidence," not "contra." Con(fidence) artists take advantage of someone by first gaining their confidence. I was just reiterating what someone else said.
  15. Don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but I'm not so sure it's upgradeable although I haven't seen it up close. It could be a borderine 8.5 copy. Hard to tell without it in hand. My personal opinion? I think mania has now hit and it's basing itself on the record prices of the 3 copies in CC a few months ago. I don't think it has anything to do with the love of the character. I think investors are starting to feel like it's a no lose investment and even if they overpay now, in the long run they'll be OK. That's the chatter I've been hearing.

  17. I didn't go but as I understand it several board members did. I heard both on Facebook and on here that there was high praise for the show as everyone new about the purpose of the show before attending.
  18. Left click / highlight and then just quote what you've highlighted.
  19. Mods aren't handing out points yet unless you do something really ornery. Like tell @greggy to STFU. Obviously, that means show friends frilly undies.
  20. Red Raven has been a name that has been reused several times over the decades.
  21. Why do you argue, when you know what is going on? Because it's the internet. What is going on?
  22. AF #15 has by far been the most valuable book of the silver age for nearly a decade. How can this possibly be 'overdue'?
  23. Sorry I missed this one. Great book. By far the most popular book in the thread. I had several people interested. I should have priced it at AF #15 levels.
  24. Is it because of sales threads that you find it irritating? I'll be honest, I completely avoid sales threads with a zillion pics in each post. I do like the truncated feature but only for pics (assuming there is one pic in each post). Other than that I can live without it.
