  1. Maybe not a steal, but below FMV averages it has been known to happen.
  2. This time of year is hit and miss. Generally speaking, some people get Christmas bonuses and end up splurging on themselves but over all the plethora of end of year auctions (people trying to raise money), lack of time due to Christmas and Thanksgiving and credit card bills getting bloated I've found that this time of year is a buyer's market.
  3. Mark, this is just awesome. Is something like this particularly tough to find? I've never seen one before.
  4. Sartre, I love your books but you really gotta invest in a better way to scan or photograph them. Your pics just don't do the books justice. It'd be like showing up at car show with your new Bentley after taking it offroading in a mud pit!
  5. AF #15 has not only had seasonal lows, there are times when the book just plain stopped rising for a time and fell backward in value. Expecting any book to beat GPA at every sale is not only unrealistic it's unhealthy over all. Any market that goes up too fast will fall back on itself.
  6. I think the only explanation they offered as to how DS caught up so quick and became a sorcerer was: he was born with a photo graphic memory. On a different note, the guy just literally walked into a room and was immediately taken to a trip to the multi-verse. Ant-Man's trip to the micro-verse had a better set up. My take is that as he was reading the spells from the sacred book, he was able to activate the time function (possibly activating a silent eye in the background) -- as was evidenced from the apple aging back and forth, and then reversing time so that he could read the missing pages. From there it was a matter of recalling what he saw. I also took it as he had spent several years studying in the Himalayas. The Ancient One told him at the start that it would take him several years of study to learn the art and his hair grew more grey during his stay there.
  7. Do you have a time / place in mind? Dinner before or after? Perv. You wanna see pics too, don't you?
  8. Fascinating. Even more fascinating is that the differences seem to be mostly relegated to Timely / Atlas / Marvel so far. I know this is mostly a discussion about UK variants but it might shed some light on how / when / why there are so many differences because from Marvel #1 in 1939, through the Atlas copies we're posting Marvel always seemed to have a large variance in the price department. Heck they even continued it with the BA price variants in test markets. The only DC variants I know of are a few GA issues that were market at $0.15 for the Canadian markets rather than $0.10 for US markets.
  9. I've actually never been a Dr. Strange fan but I do want to see the flick only so I don't miss out on how they're building the Marvel Universe. I'm probably most interested in seeing what the 2 end scenes.
  10. Got two more books to add to my upcoming sales thread. TMNT #2 CGC 9.8 OWW (1st Print) Marvel Graphic Novel #4 CGC 9.8 White.
  11. No sure if the accent won't be bothering me throughout the entire movie. It's cute at first, but throughout an entire film? Is it because it's not Hellenic?
  12. I don't think you should regret it. This forum has taken on life like a stock-market analysis algorithm and has lost it's roots as a comic book forum. It's either movie performance being argued (and not even story content, just how or why the next movie sequel should be pumped), what the next hot book is, how much it should be worth or why it's dropping. IMO it's unfortunate as when I joined 12 years ago, most people really just liked talking about comics for their content. Sure, values were discussed, but it was more of a sideline discussion (oohs and aahs over rising prices) rather than investment being a central theme. Ah, the good ole' days.
  13. That's the loose understanding I have. Of course, it's entirely possible that Abram is teasing everyone, but nobody except for him really knows.
  14. Gang, I have a large batch of key and high grade books that I plan to put up for sale starting tomorrow. All books are CGC graded and will be split between the GA/SA/BA forum and the CA forum. This is a preview list below.
  15. Right, so neither of us know at this point whether Abrams is planning on tying the series together in some way or if he's just teasing people with the Easter eggs. He could tie Star Wars to Star Trek if he jumped through enough hoops. C'mon dude, this isn't rocket surgery. You seem to have your mind made up. I'm not saying they are related. I'm not saying they are not related. So my question to you is why would there be any similarities in Easter eggs between the two?

  17. I did read an article that made some ties between the two movies - basically little Easter eggs that are almost impossible to decipher - but I have no idea what Abram's long term plans are. Did you see both movies? Of course. Otherwise I wouldn't be commenting on their content. Then you know it wasn't a sequel in any sense of the word. Did you read the article that I was referencing? http://screencrush.com/10-cloverfield-lane-connections-clues-cloverfield/ Like I said, the author of the article does connect the two movies with a few Easter egg clues, but so far no real tangible connection to the story line.
