  1. Really? That's over 4200/point. It's officially neck and neck with AF15 as the most valuable Silver Age key. A restored 4.0 with slight amateur CT sold for 8K today. I was thinking $25k-$28k, so just a little short of that. Restored books (particularly those without trimming) are aggressively on the rise! You guys are amazing. Do you actually think every sale will outpace the previous one? Kids.
  2. Miscuts with white showing in the outer cover edges are very common on Hulk #1. Right. I think that if this book had had its original spine moved to the back cover, we would see pages peeking through at the outer edge and there would be ticks where the original spine had been. I don't see either of those things on this copy. Just to be clear, the white you see on this book are not the interior pages peeking. It is the white where the cover art ends and blank paper begins. It was supposed to be cut of' when the cover was trimmed at the publisher but the cover obviously wasn't sitting square when the factory trim happened and some white stayed on the cover when it was trimmed and stapled to the book. So there are some pages slightly peeking out at the top, which is common on most SA Marvels, but as you move down the front cover open edge, the white cover stock starts to show. This is the miscut I am talking about. Very common on Hulk #1.

  4. No. He was on the down-spiral. Even his salary details reflected this for a while because producers were concerned about any risks. Richard III (1995) $50,000 Danger Zone (1996) $500,000 Game 6 (2005) $100 /day And then Iron Man came along, and he became one of the hottest properties again. Iron Man (2008) $500,000 Sherlock Holmes (2009) $9,000,000 Iron Man 2 (2010) $10,000,000 Due Date (2010) $12,000,000 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) $15,000,000 The Avengers (2012) $50,000,000 (once box-office bonuses and backend compensation are factored in) Iron Man 3 (2013) $50,000,000 So your idea of washed up is different than mine. He made a lot of good flicks between 1995 and 2008 and he was already on his way back up before he got the Iron Man role. I'd never considered him 'washed up'.
  5. Unfortunately, he was in a downward spiral for a long period of time. From 1996 through 2001, Downey was arrested numerous times on drug-related charges including cocaine, heroin and marijuana and went several times through drug treatment programs unsuccessfully, explaining in 1999 to a judge: "It's like I've got a shotgun in my mouth with my finger on the trigger, and I like the taste of the gun metal." He explained his relapses by claiming to have been addicted to drugs since the age of eight, due to the fact that his father, also an addict, had been giving them to him. In April 1996, Downey was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded .357 Magnum handgun while he was speeding down Sunset Boulevard. A month later, while on parole, he trespassed into a neighbor's home while under the influence of a controlled substance and fell asleep in one of the beds. He was sentenced to three years of probation and required to undergo compulsory drug testing. In 1997, he missed one of the court-ordered drug tests and had to spend six months in the Los Angeles County jail. By the time he joined on as Iron Man, he had spent a few years rebuilding his career. I think this is where he got really tight with Mel Gibson as he helped him through the tough times. And why RDJ wanted him to join up on a Marvel Studios role. Robert Downey Jr. Wants Mel Gibson in The Marvel Cinematic Universe By 2007, he was definitely making a comeback. I liked his performance in ZODIAC as the reporter. But it was IRON MAN that threw him into a massive leading role. So what you're saying is he had a drug problem which was well publicized. Welcome to Hollywood. He still made about 10 movies during that time period, some of which were great. I still wouldn't use the term washed up.
  6. I don't know that anyone ever considered Downey washed up. He was always a terrific actor and he's been in regular roles for over 3 decades now.
  7. I like this so much I'm reposting my own post. Amazonian sized Greek women don't necessarily look manly.
  8. I actually don't like the way Affleck's frown looks in the cowl. It hit me twice when I watched the trailer. Rest of it looks pretty solid. Was that Flash next to Batman?
  9. You can't micro analyze every sale. It's going to be the financial downfall of the hobby. There will always be some variation on price. This isn't the stock market where everyone shops at the same place.
  10. Supergirl isn't all pumped up either, but she's lifting buildings and catching falling airliners. I think with WW all armored up and the premise that she doesn't need huge muscles...that it's going to work out well on screen regardless. I don't think any Superheros need large muscles for their powers to make sense, but Wonder Woman has always been an Amazon based on Greek mythology. She's generally been portrayed as 'strong' looking. Are you saying Gadot doesn't emulate this look fairly well?: I'm just saying that to me she doesn't look like an Amazon. They're going to use costume and CGI to fill her in.
  11. u I think so? I'd ask why right here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8183822#Post8183822

  13. They're going to need to CGI about 40 lbs on Gadot for her to look like Wonder Woman.
  14. So you got a strike because you advertised a website selling mystery boxes? And you advertised it in the website/dealer announcement Forum?
  15. I know. I meant that the only time he had any powers outside of his suit that were like 'sorcery' were when he had stolen the Surfer's powers - and I realize they were cosmic in nature. That's why I put the word sorcery in quotes. Other than that, he was just a super genius who was driven to rule the world - with a cool suit.
  16. That's right out of the comics, although they do tend to overplay it in the films. I assume electricity has always been one of his weapons because electricity itself is one of the most powerful natural forces and controlling it is one of science's greatest achievements, so it fits with a character that's part scientist, part sorcerer. My understanding of his control of electricity has to do with his armor, not as a power. He's a sorcerer but also a crazy mad scientist. I mean that they keep giving him electric powers & not a suit that controls electricity. Granted, I may be wrong that it's like 90% suit for his power over electricity, but I was pretty sure that was the case. Yea, it's the suit in the comics and he has no powers apart from sorcery. Most authors and artists don't even show him using sorcery, but sometimes they do. All of the modern incarnations show him as gaining powers along with the FF starting with Ultimate FF and including both films. Not sure when the sorcery elements started because I so rarely see him using them. Was he a sorcerer in any of the Lee/Kirby stories? I don't remember any where he was. I do remember him using tons of gadgets he invented though...I thought that Lee wanted him to be a pure mad inventor. the stuff you've written was my understanding as well. The only 'sorcery' Doom ever used to my knowledge was when he stole the Surfer's powers in the mid 1960's and then he lost them again. I agree, it was mostly the suit and his intellect. Almost like a bad Tony Stark.
  17. Scratch that... http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/11/24/guardians-of-the-galaxy-director-james-gunn-responds-to-peter-quill-parentage-rumor/ I couldn't agree more. I think the over all speculation and people's need for 15 minutes of fame for the people who make a living off of investigating spoilers and speculation is unfortunate and sad. And I think it runs counter to the entire point of the movie industry.
  18. Yup, as I said earlier the clipped coupon should be a full return on the part of the seller.
