  1. Are you conflating the "DA was offered X" story with the story about how Geppi offered $1M in an ad for a NM Action 1? My memory is getting hazy - what is Geppi or Parrino that put that ad in the OSPG?
  2. It's color breaking. Yup, spotted that after the big scan was posted. Barely there but it's there. That's probably the main reason for the 8.0 grade but you'd need the back cover scan to be sure (not that grading from a scan is accurate but it's more than 1/2 the battle). Having said that, I could see that 8.0 grading being higher.
  3. Paid on time for a big book. Thanks!
  4. How do you know so much about people's personal finances? They teach stuff like that at Harvard Business. I didn't realize until later in the thread that he was being argumentative. I'll just ignore replying from here on out. (thumbs u
  5. The old books went in grade swings just like they do today. You had over graded books and under graded books (and well graded books). Again, I don't want to start a rumor but this is a really, really sharp looking 8.0 Did you post those large pics yet?
  6. How do you know so much about people's personal finances? I can think of a dozen people (most who are on this chat forum) who could lay out the cash if they wanted to.
  7. You know what I think is coincidental to the point of ridiculous ? If this is yet another instance where CGC delayed reporting a book in their census as part of a request from the submitter I will be more than simply disappointed concerning the ethics of a third party grader that then pretends to offer an impartial grading service. If the high rollers get special favors from CGC, no matter what those favors are, that we 'common folk' receive then CGC is not impartial. Where do the favors end? Where did it come out that this book was held back. It easily could have been graded in Chicago. Possible, only I don't CGC has updated the census since onsite grading in Chicago.
  8. 51 and +1 50 and -1 42 and -1 39 and +1 48 and -1 +1 (that is for 48 and -1) 44 and -1 While there will be times when a Tec #27 will sell for more (Batmania or the week the $1MIL mystical barrier was broken), toe to toe, eye to eye, identical circumstances, I think Action #1 would have a slight edge every time and will continue to do so.
  9. I don't want to perpetuate a rumor but that is a pretty sharp looking 8.0. I realize that the scan is small and we see no back cover but man, that is bright.
  10. When I saw 90 new posts in here I knew it was Billy Parker stirring up trouble. And why? Because he's YELLA'!
  11. Paid quickly on an FF #67 CGC 9.2
  12. I have these GA books for sale in the GA/SA forum. Astonishing #4 CGC 6.0 White pages - $550 Batman #73 CGC 6.0 OWW (Joker cover) - $620 Marvel Mystery Comics #19 CGC 7.5 OWW - $2250 Venus #10 CGC 7.0 COW - $350
  13. I thought, writing aside, that the book technically looked good for the grade. That might be the reason for the strong price.
  14. What did that check that Metro auctioned off sell for? The one that bought the rights to Superman for DC? Historical stuff, truly historical stuff is not measured by grade. It's measured by what it did in history.
  15. Are they all 17 and consider Twilight a decent movie? Blade Runner is a timeless Sci Fi film (except for the 1980's musical score, which is not timeless but I still enjoy it) that boasts an impressive cast and an amazing storyline. I consider it one of Ridley's best.
  16. I'm going to have a *spoon* ton of fresh slabs for sale by tomorrow evening.
  17. Is that the same copy that was Clink recently?
  18. People of all walks are jerks, and honestly I think it's unfair to single out specific creators as there are just as many jerk off fans. They just aren't famous so nobody cares if they're jerks. Normal dudes don't get their bad days broadcast on the web. As a general rule, if you're respectful and humble 9 times out of 10 the person you're dealing with won't be a jerk. For that odd 1 out of 10, oh well. There will always be a bad apple in the bunch. Silly thread.
  19. It doesn't need to be discussed. All events are either pre-Sadfan or post-Sadfan. Sadfan is now woven in the fabric and the structure upon which our reality is based. It is ever-present. I prefer BS or AS. It's less confusing than PS or PS.
  20. Has Sadfan been discussed in detail, yet?
  21. Nope. Marvel owns the Inhumans, but they don't own the title mutant. Fox owns the FF, X-men, Deadpool, Cable, Surfer and Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. Sony owns Spider-man. Marvel also owns Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver but they can't refer to them as mutants. I think Marvel is going use the Inhumans franchise as an answer to the loss of the X-men to Fox and develop their own brand of 'non-mutant mutants'. It's making for intriguing story families... Avengers and related - Science and magic Inhumans and related - non-mutant mutants Guardians and related - Cosmos and sci fi They're rebuilding their universe after the loss of some of the greatest franchises to other companies. The crossovers will be epic.
  22. By buying the Doug Moench and George Pérez 1975 series you get well acquainted with them, and then you can get backwords when the spec bubbles will be blown and all cools down. That series was what turned me onto them. I thought it was epic as a young 10 year old (or whatever) boy. The struggle between Black Bolt and Maximus was really moving for a 10 year old!
  23. The ones that have already tripled in price in the past year. Too late. I'm stoked about a possible movie as I'm a lifelong Inhumans fan but kind of tired of all the speculation talk.
  24. Whoa! That's about as bad as it gets. +1 not cool. 1000% inappropriate, particularly because ThirdH PAID HIS FULL ASK!! It's not like he haggled him down to that price and now he's irritated his arm got twisted, that's what he asked for?!??!?!? (Did he even sell it for the $3,000 sought?) I see the OP realized the error of his ways. What goes around comes around. Maybe he'll be making a huge profit on something he bought here 6 months earlier one of these days? It happens to all of us who regularly sell here. Do you think I was thrilled when I sold 10 copies of Saga 1 for $30 a pop and the guy who bought them was selling them (successfully) for $80+ a pop 2-3 weeks later? I was only irritated with myself for not timing it right, not the seller. I don't think he even haggled with me either. People should be more upset that it's a Mixed Age thread with Moderns listed for sale that hasn't been appropriately moved by moderation to the Mixed section. Ah, I'm very sorry about that, Rupp, I honestly didn't consider them when I posted my list. I've now edited them out of the sale. My apologies. It was a tragedy. I just checked and can see that the "Notify" button was hit on my post with the list of books for sale. It's hard for me to figure out who would be upset enough to notify the moderators to move the thread. I only wish that they had PM'd me first, I would have been happy to make those adjustments. I actually hit the notify button because I'm upset that someone else bought some of those books before I cold. Sorry.
