  1. Just so this doesn't get missed in all the hooplah! Guys take it to the General discussion thread now. Guy buys book, seller claims isn't restored. Submits to cgc, comes back restored. Seller offers refund in time payments. (Like the book was paid for). Payments from seller stopped. If I understand the narrative correctly, the seller made no payments other than an m.o. with the wrong name, which had to be returned. Exactly right. No successful payments. I'm not far from Guelph. Is there anything I can do to help this along?

  3. Damn straight. Seriously, is English your first language? Not a slam, but a lot of my friends are francophone and don't understand nuance like this. Yes. When I am thinking about something then I am considering it. You are not taking into account it's most commonly accepted, idiomatic use.
  4. Damn, we've got a tough crowd. I don't know about the shrunken cover comment but I looked at that Curator book closely because I owned a copy at the time that I was convinced should have graded a 9.4 - it was gorgeous, white and bright - possibly brighter than the Curator copy (my copy graded with White pages). It graded a 9.2 and when I saw the Curator graded as a 9.4 I could help but notice the 6 or 7 spine stresses.
  5. do you have a scan of the book? Id love to see it. It's gorgeous and bright - tough to find on that light blue/grey cover which often appears dingy. But I do think it was over graded as a 9.4. http://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/fantastic-four-5-curator-pedigree-marvel-1962-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/7054-91493.s#74267426443
  6. Isn't it enough to just be happy for the guy? It's irrelevant how much he paid and personally, I don't think it's very couth to keep asking. At least not in his celebration thread.
  7. Yes sir and someone was there (thumbs u Where do you live? Far. Just outside Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Yea I thought you were Canadian. It was just odd to hear you mention Elicott City so casually. I've been there which is why I instantly recognized it.

  9. Awesome. Was that the one in Ellicott City? I heard about it and wondered if someone was going to be there from the boards. Congrats!
  10. I've never really enjoyed her work. I think her role was perfect. JUNO? Looked a like a good movie but never saw. I've just never liked her as an actress.
  11. I've never really enjoyed her work. I think her role was perfect. You like Transformers. Therefore the opposite of all of your cinema-related statements will be true. So yes, I agree she`s an excellent actress. I like Big Macs and I like Prime Rib. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

  13. That's a reasonable consolation price if your team loses the playoffs.
  14. Long story behind this book but it's available again. Link to the book.
  15. No worries. This is relatively 'big' news and I'm sure they'll want to get it right. Haspel in particular is what I'd call a GA knowledge buff and I'd be surprised if he'd heard about it but wasn't interested in getting to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
  16. Yeah, speaking to the CGC is like pulling teeth. The guy on the phone wasn't the least bit interested in what I had to say. Hey Shield, do you still have the pictures that were in the opening post? Maybe I can send them in along with my submission. Or does anyone else have any photos of arrival dates for verification that I could use? Ask specifically to talk to Mark Haspel or Paul Litch and share with them what you found in this thread.
  17. He's popular, but there are 1400 9.8s, and who knows how many more raw copies waiting to be pressed into 9.8s. You'll need thousands of people willing to spend more than $400 for a 9.8 - which by the way looks identical to a 9.4 or 9.6 - if this book is going to see a significant increase. I talked to a guy who owned a large store in the US. He said that Deadpool carries his entire store. The character is insanely popular right now. Maybe not so much the Vintage crowd. but very much so to the younger crowd.
  18. We've tried for years. Inevitably someone will start another thread. That would be really disruptive if the mods forced all comic book-based movies to be driven into one thread. Especially with all that is coming out in the next few years, then you are going to have friction when people are jockeying for which movie gets mentioned frequently so it doesn't get buried behind other movies. Not a good idea. I misread his post. I'm ok with one thread per movie. One thread for all movies be complicated.
