  1. This fact blew my mind when I first heard it... Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is an average sized galaxy. Contained in our galaxy are, as my good buddy Carl used to say, "billions and billions" of stars. In the known universe, there are more galaxies than there are stars in our galaxy (each containing the aforementioned "billions and billions" of stars. Yeah, there's no life out there.
  2. Is that chimney cap (or whatever) on top of the building farthest to the right missing on the 2nd cover? When I was a kid, I was pretty good at those 'find all the differences' puzzles.
  3. How long has it been since the last coupon (not counting this ebay bucks stuff)?
  4. Is there a "sold items" option when doing a search. If considering consigning to them, being able to see what past sales were might help with the decision.
  5. My 8/29 Value sub went to SFG yesterday, Greased lightning!
  6. KJ - Is there something weird with that FF 6 in the middle? It looks partially green.
  7. I have no horse here ... I don't use GPA. I just want to say that change for the sake of better is ALWAYS is good thing, change for the sake of change is almost NEVER a good thing.
  8. Just curious... When he bought the book, did he leave any feedback?
  9. I might be late to the parade, but when you get one of those 'special' labels you don't get notes like "1st appearance of Wolverine"?
  10. Just wondering... When submitting to have the books visit CCS first, do you know when they arrive back at CGC? It just says received ... when the package was delivered to CGC. Is that right?
  11. When I talk about my collection with noncomic people, I usually get a look that says, "What's wrong with you? You're a grown man."
  12. I was going to jokingly suggest a road trip, then I thought "I wonder if anyone has ever actually done that."
  13. Let's say that when he countered $900 & you went looking for another copy, that you found one & bought it. Later, when your $725 offer was accepted, would you be obligated to buy it?
  14. Help me to understand this... Shill bidding is illegal in California, and because Ebay is based out of California, it is illegal to shill bid in any of their auctions. However, shill bidding IS NOT illegal in some other states. And if we lived in an alternate universe where Ebay was based out of one of those states, shill bidding would be legal in their auctions (it might not be ok, but it would be legal). Is that right?
  15. These are words to live by. I was once told by my supervisor, "Warner, if you were anymore laid back, you'd be asleep."
  16. When I was a kid (circa: 1976), I put a stack of silver age comics in a paper bag and rode my bike to Cliff's Book Store. I was located on Division Ave, in the 'bad' part of town but close enough to the beginning of the 'good' part that I figured I was safe. Anyway, when I got there (quite the bike ride, especially holding onto a paper bag filled with comics) I asked Cliff how much I could get for them. He put down the fat cigar he was puffing on and proceeded to remove the comics. He didn't take them out of the bag through the top of the bag, he ripped the sack down the side and took them out the newly formed opening. When he needed to get the lower comics out, he ripped further, and so on. When he was done, he offered me about 5 bucks. Keep in mind this was about 20 to 30 silver age books. Seeing as now I had no way of bringing them back home (he had shredded the bag), I accepted - and cried the whole way home.
  17. Not that I'm complaining mind you, but my FT Value from 10/24 shipped out yesterday. I must be eating right or something.
  18. How can Ebay make an informed decision either way? It's not like either one of you can prove he got the right book?
