  1. Just curious why they are so much faster than last year ... more employees? better machinery? more hours? less submissions? just plain working faster?
  2. "There is no corpse." "There is no corpse." "There is no corpse." No tears. Just chills.
  3. How do they do English-speaking movies in foreign theaters? Dubbed? Subs? Keep it English?
  4. Do you need a special tool with these new slabs?
  5. I belong to the camp that thinks everything after T2 is garbage. I also belong to the camp that watches, and will watch, every Terminator movie.
  6. Not at all saying this was a bad movie, but it wasn't my favorite Xmen/Wolverine flick. I'm certainly glad I went to see it.
  7. I may be wrong (it happens quite frequently), but it appears that the answer to the question depends on which side of the table you're standing on.
  8. That 131 looks rather unique. Can't really call it a picture frame because the art goes all the way to the bottom of the cover. But it doesn't go all the way to the top either. This is my contribution. Like Mr Pontoon, this issue was one of my first FFs.
  9. re: Wizard Magazine's "100 Best Single Issue Comics Since You Were Born" I feel like such a idjit. I can only view up to #36.
  10. Back in the early '80s, I read The Death of Captain Marvel (cancer). I was just wondering if, like Marvel has done frequently in the past, they brought him back.
  11. I could swear the gauntlet was seen in the first Thor movie. Does this mean the gauntlet was made before the first Thor movie's events?
  12. I'm wondering, because of his popularity, if CGC should note baby groot's 1st appearance on the label.
  13. I remember when the NES first came out, me and my brother were up all night trying to complete the first level of Super Mario Bros. (we never did it).
  14. Not to toot my own horn, but I don't know of anyone else (other than me) who has completed Solomon's Key.
  15. Evey now and then I see some of these stamps for sale. It's probably a good thing that they aren't more valuable than they are ... discourages people from cutting them out. Does this phrase fit in this thread? ... "I would never do it, but am very happy that others did."
  16. I think I only went in there once but IIRC, around 1983 they would have big price stickers which they used to seal the bag in the back, is that right? Correct. A few years ago, I found some old comics up in mom's garage. When I went to rebag them, some still had those old stickers (that said The Book Stop) on the back.
  17. The Book Stop in Grand Rapids, MI. (1970's) John used to save any back issues of DD he got in & let me have first shot at buying them. .
  18. I think it's just a standard quote that means "I don't know how to tell a 2.0 from a 4.0, or a 9.2 from a 9.6". Not having multiple pics or scans is just lazy imo. That being said, not having a grade in your title will keep it from a lot of searches, for example searching for "Swamp Thing 21 NM" won't show the lazy listers. I was under the impression that it meant "I never assigned a grade, so there can be no "Item not as Described" reason to return it.
  19. DD 131 - 1st Bullseye DD 168 - 1st Elektra
  20. A couple of questions for the OP: "Since there is apparently no way to know when the finger bends occurred and the book was downgraded because of them, what's the point in getting it pressed at all?" Were you aware of any finger bends before shipping them off? Didn't you say you average 500 books/year going to CGC? Are you aware of any (of those 100's of books) having finger bends beforehand and not having them afterwards?
  21. The Book Stop in Wyoming, MI. It was paperbacks and comics...about 50/50. There were a couple of other stores in town that dealt in comics, but seeing as how I grew up 2 blocks from The Book Stop, that one was my favorite. It was run by an older guy(John) and his two sons (John & Joe). The dad would always save any back issues of DD for me - he knew I was into that comic. For my 13th birthday, in '75, my older sister handed me a box. Inside was a can of Pork -n- Beans, a bottle of Tahitian Treat, and a DD #1. She said she had talked to John about it and he hunted it down for her.
  22. +1 My #1 beef with sellers is sub-par communication (even more than shoddy packing). Talk to me. At the very least, acknowledge my messages.
  23. Sheesh. Four and a half months for MFT? Let's see, if I submit now, I'll get a nice Xmas present later.
