  1. Now I'm feeling a little inadequate (and I'm drooling, too).
  2. When I was a youngster, Farrah Fawcett would come over every night ... for about 5 minutes.
  3. This one gets 2 thumbsup. One for the grade, and one for the yellow.
  4. When I was a kid,I had a savings account at the bank around the corner, but either I couldn't have a checking account or I just didn't want one - don't remember. Anyways, when I sent away for books thru the old CBG, my mom (or dad) would write out a check and I would reimburse them the next time we went to the bank.
  5. A few years ago (when that Action #1 was being auctioned off), I called her and asked if I could borrow a few bucks to buy a comic book. She knew I was a lifelong collector and she didn't hesitate to say yes. She asked how much I needed and when I told her $1.7 million, she hung up.
  6. re: FF 4 Back when I was a kid, the owner of The Book Stop (LCS about 2 blocks from my house) kept all the 'good' comics in a short box next to the register. I was thumbing thru it one day and pulled out a copy of FF #4. It had a price sticker on the bag for $12. Too much, I thought, for a copy with a small piece out of the LRC. I put it back.
  7. I had one of those "Oh yeah" moments this morning. I was looking thru one of those old Marvel Indexes put out by G&T Enterprises back in the '70s. One of the notes for FF #6 says... Intro: The Yancy Street Gang (reference only, the Yancy Street Gang never actually appears in any story) But remember, these came out in the '70s. I was just wondering if the YSG has, indeed, made an appearance since these came out? Or is the YSG not even referred to anymore?
  8. That's really nice of them. USPS screws up and damages the books, and CGC presses and grades them for free?
  9. I'm not sure why I like these photo covers. Just because they're different I guess.
  10. I haven't read it in a while, but I would think FF Annual #3 would have a lot of first meetings. And possibly Daredevil Annual #1?
  11. Obviously, by looking at your sig, they are not present in all of their encapsulated books, as they told Spearmintrob. I just don't understand why if some do & some don't, they can't figure out how to prevent them. Of course, that's assuming they care.
  12. This cover has always been a favorite of mine. It has so many things going for it...predominantly blue & red colors, "pop art", and the red/yellow combination for the title was, imo, one of the better combos. Some of the combos they used didn't really do it for me.
  13. I understand loyalty to a brand. That's not unusual or frowned upon in the least. What I can't understand are the little snide comments being made. I'm getting the distinct feeling that some people here think it's 'cool' to dis the competition, and those who enjoy using it. Seriously, it's 100% ok to think one company is better than the other, but some here are going too far with the little snide comments. It's ugly. Please put down the pom-poms.
  14. Yes. The form asks you to enter the FMV of the comic. If you enter an amount over $200, the modern tier becomes unavailable.
  15. By "CBCS posters", do you mean... A) All of them B) Most of them C) Those who bash CGC Now, if you please, reverse it. Using your quote "... but if you read the CBCS board they are predisposed to dislike CGC ", switch CGC & CBCS. Now choose A, B, or C from above.
  16. I don't do signatures, but if I did I think I'd like a VSP service. Like you said, many sigs are from days-gone-by.
  17. This is my favorite. I enjoyed watching Quicksilver busting Magneto out of prison. Fun sequence.
