  1. I submitted a big batch at NY Special Edition on 6/10 that was split between two invoices (all Modern slow track). One shows as graded and the other as scheduled for grading.
  2. Well, I'm going, so if there is one, I plan on being in.
  3. It went to a second print, so yeah. I was getting back into comics right around then, and I couldn't find one when it was released, but I did manage to grab one as a back issue a few years later after the heat wore off.
  4. This makes no sense to me. Why have more than one copy if you don't plan on eventually reselling them? Two copies I can understand, your reader and your untouched high-grade. But "tons"?
  5. This seems silly. If what we've been told is correct (5000 color Bobas, 3000 B&Ws), then the total supply of the color is more. If you're saying that a greater proportion of them made it into the hands of people that want them initially, then I can buy that. But, if the desirability of both books is the same (I don't think it is, the B&Ws don't make sense to me; the appeal is in the trompe l'oeil effect, IMO), then the people that want them should still be looking to but them. EDIT: To clarify, I don't think your latter point is accurate, that the after-market prices of the color is the cause of the current market of the B&Ws. I agree with your "boring" take
  6. The one example in this regard that pops to mind is when he sold an Alpha Flight 17, which by then had clearly been established to not be the first appearance of Big Hero Six, as the "first appearance by their creators" or some other similar nonsense that may have been factually correct, but which was meaningless in regards to what pretty much any collector actually is interested in, and clearly intended to lead people to believe they were buying a legit first appearance, which collectors do look for.
  7. Once you start placing unnecessary punctuation in the middle of words because an invisible superhero wants you to, it's kinda hard to stop.
  8. It's Doomsday. It's actually an entire page...just like ASM #298. It's a classic cameo. Whether a full body shot is included or not isn't relevant. We know it's Doomsday from the context. People knew it was Doomsday's first appearance long before CGC, and we didn't need CGC to tell us it was "First Doomsday Cameo" to care, because it certainly had value long before CGC. It is quite incorrect to say it would have "little to no value" without the notation. The entire hobby doesn't hinge on label notations, after all. (Man, how could would it have been to be reading ASM when #298 came out, and wondering who the hell was wearing Spidey's symbiote...?) I take your point - but I see a difference between ASM 298 (seeing Venom in shadows but seeing his torso up and his face and some dialogue) versus MOS17 (seeing only an arm and a fist 3 times). My value comment was also directed at MOS17 being worth almost double MOS18 - which is obviously also based on scarcity (if you can use that term for either MOS17 and 18). While I do think MOS17 deserves a slight bump over the other books in the DOS arc, it shouldn't be nearly as expensive as it is IMO. You're saying you believe in the fist bump? What it's worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. I guess what you're saying is that you value it less on average than other collectors?
  9. At this point, there hasn't been too much movement on Valiant books. I think collections can still be put together on the cheap. I saved a lot of money buying when I did. Right after the announcement I picked up complete NM pre-unity runs of Harbinger for $75, Solar for $50, XO for $50 and extra copies of Solar #10 for a couple of bucks each. You can't find those sort of deals now (at least where I look). Or you could buy the entire run from me here plus get bonuses: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Pre-Unity-Valiant-comic-run-duplicates-of-keys-Harbinger-1-bonuses-/261980785977?hash=item3cff458d39 Nice plug and it would probably sell with some scans. Good price, and it proves my earlier point. I spent approximately half your BIN price when I purchased mine and it was more complete. Someone just bought it, assuming it was a boardie because it happened minutes after I posted this? And I can't even sell mine FOR $1.25 Make the shipping free and I'll buy a few things
  10. Yes... but... - the exact ratios have never been known. - it's not clear if CGC gets the identification correct*. * there are numerous cases where CGC has misidentified various Valiant gold variants which are clearly gold. It's hard to believe they would be good at identifying glossy vs. not-as-glossy but otherwise-identical. The paper stock is different, it feels like sandpaper. I know, I have one that came back 9.8 There's a difference. Whether CGC consistently knows the difference is in question. They often mislabel books where there is a variation... no matter how obvious. For example, this is not a gold edition. It is a literally worthless (9.2 is below average for this $1 book) common version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131570773359 If anything, it sounds like you have no idea you know the difference cause you never held one in your hand before, and you call yourself a valiantman I don't have any doubt that I can tell the difference (and if you think I never held one you're ridiculous). I'm saying that I'm not confident that CGC will get the labeling correct every time, due to known errors like the worthless Bloodshot #0 that they labeled as "Gold Edition". First and only CGC 10.0 Rai #0. labels can alway be corrected, if you don't have any confidence in thier labeling, how can you be sure your 10.0 is really a 10.0? Might have been mislabeled instead of a 9.8 or 9.9 In my opinion Valiantman's Rai #0 10.0 has a very slight miswrap, which arguably should keep it from being a 10
  11. Not surprised at that at all. I didn't have trouble moving Fine copies for $20. I paid $35 for two VF to NMish copies last year at NYCC. Finding a high-grade of #1 was the second item on my list (after a Marvel Super-Heroes #13; managed to get one of those in about a Fine for $70).
  12. CGC is in the grading business. It's not on them to research that sort of information. If they're not *sure* that it's the first, better to leave that info off.
  13. I'm with ya. As I said elsewhere in this thread, my addiction to this issue, and any of the SW books really, doesn't make much sense. But you should see my stack of ASM 265s. Which reminds me, I need to track down more ASM 265s. Bet my stack is bigger , been collecting the Sable for years Probably true. I think I have 10 or so. I've got a couple 9.8 slabs and a few raws of various grades. And perhaps a slab-worthy second print, if there is ever a reason to slab it.
  14. This looks like me when i was a youngster and first discovering porn So you had broken legs and a club foot? Okay, so, poll time; that foot: better or worse than Liefeld?
  15. One of my LCS owners told me the comic was being delayed until next week, along with some others including Fade Out. I was definitely interested in getting this one in it being Divinity's next appearance after the mini, and was one of the first in the door to try and get one. I have also noticed that (last I checked, at least) it is not in stock on Midtown or MCS websites even for pre-order. 9 Stores in Central Florida got 0 copies, I bet it was Allocated, and has already shown a 2nd print offered by one place I called trying to track it down today. Called in a favor at one of my back up ordering spots, have 2 copies of cover A and 1 cover B on the way. Cannot find a 1:20 and one sold for cheap on eBay today that I missed while at work. Serious heat on this one really fast, bet the print run was low like Divinity #1. I doubt they would allocate like that. I would imagine that some of the Diamond warehouses got it in and shipped it out and others didn't and it will be in next week. Just hold your horses before you declare it hot. It will cool when it fully ships. You should go ahead and buy some on eBay at jacked-up prices, just in case.

There were plenty in NYC. West coast seemed to miss out. Texas too. Look for it next week.
  17. Could always hold them raw and slab when the time comes, I don't think there's any immediate rush. His solo movie isn't due out till like 2020 or something. ..he'll have appearances in Justice League and maybe BvS but still, even then there probably won't be much, if any, increase in value. His 1st app in DC Comics presents #26 and then Teen Titans would heat up first..he also had another solo series in 2008 I believe. But you never know.. New 52 Suicide Squad books saw a little bump. I think if you truly like the book/cover, which it sounds like you do, go and get one slabbed for your PC. You may want to pick up DC Presents, NEW TEEN TITANS #1 as well as an early 80s mini-series that focused on each New Teen Titan member including Cyborg. This might be the first solo: http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=bibliography&issue=85280152112%201
  18. People are catching on that Valiant is putting out some great reads and they're not printing a whole lot of them?
  19. I need that Rai #0. This guy has been lonely too long: That's kind of a cool error. Archer & Armstrong 0 It's not an error, it looks like the pressman was washing a blanket or plate while the press was running, sometimes those copies make it to the skid and don't get thrown out like they should. Rai #0 Looks like there is too much black ink in the rollers or not enough water to clean up the black plate. In this case, the press operator either lowers the ink keys on the console or brings up the water or both. I meant "error" in the sense that that's not how it was intended to print. I realize that's a result of an issue during the printing.
  20. Should I sell the sketch now...? Should I slab it... It's def a 9.8 candidate...And it's got boobs instead of penises... Which I haven't seen a lot of... Only thing that's sucks is the stupid green cgc label it will getl... You need to get out more
