  1. In my youth I was addicted to all things Schwarzenegger related and didn't understand much about the mechanic's of firing a minigun with one arm. To me I didn't really care for Liefeld's proportional standards because I thought only bad *spoon*es had giant muscles and guns bigger than there friends. To this day I could care less how the heck someone draw's feet as its not exactly any part of what I pay attention to and still believe those who pay so much attention to them have this huge foot fetish... But honestly I loved the amount of detail put into pages. Then when Capullo took ahold of X-Force it reenforced why I loved the series and Tony Daniel was no different. I loved the idea of black ops without the idea of fighting Cobra just to detain them so they could be set free a week later. X-Force was my series I guess as many others have one. Vol 3 was awesome and I have no idea what the hell is going on with this current series but in my youth I was a diehard fan. So for someone to take something like Cable kill him off and replace him with some goofy looking *spoon*tards I absolutely hated it. Fanboy rage is the best rage.
  2. one If we go with that as the rule for all books then DD #115 has a shot at first Wolverine for the one pic in the ad. DD#115 was before IH#181, but not IH#180. -slym And even if it wasn't, most people don't recognize supplemental material (ads, pin ups, previews, sketches, etc.) as valid "appearances"; that requires appearing in-story This buyer thought otherwise We don't know why the buyer chose to buy the book. Either way, it's still true that most people aren't sold on the idea
  3. When I got back my slab of her first appearance a few weeks ago, there were 15 9.8s on the census (seems very low for a book that's sold in the area of $300). Now, just a few weeks later, there are 18. Makes me wonder how many have been submitted recently.

  5. Midtown Comics still had them on the shelf when I was in yesterday.
  6. My first shop was Flashpoint, on the north shore of Long Island. They moved a few times within the Port Jeff area as they grew, until they finally disappeared in the crunch of the late '90s. I actually was first going there for Doctor Who merchandise, but started getting into comics when I won a few in a trivia contest they held.
  7. Awesome First Sub! (thumbs u Thanks! Now that I have an idea of how my grading matches up with CGC's (I've been ungrading my books a little), I have a better idea of what's worth submitting for my second go.
  8. I got my first submission back last Monday:
  9. He's out of his mind I hope this turns out to be reasonable (as I just got back a slab of this book).
  10. There have been around 300 ebay completed/open sales on the book so far and lots of multiple sales within those listings. I think there will be demand due to the unknown quantity. My gut tells me that it will fall between 1500 and 3000 copies available but it is purely speculation on my part. It has been fun reading about this book throughout the thread. I'm rooting for the people who paid big bucks to at least retain what they invested. (thumbs u Well, they'll retain the book, at the very least.
  11. Only if you're a buyer or seller. Otherwise, its pretty entertaining. Yep. This train went from 0-100-trainwreck so fast that trying jump aboard would be like trying to catch a falling knife. So instead...... Wait... so.... you can't catch a falling knife? Its all in the wrist my friend. ...oh, and knowing the knife is falling helps.... at least you can duck. That just means you get hit a split second later. I'd jump to the side.
  12. Keep in mind anyone can change those pages. They are an authority on nothing. Check out what it says now... I was figuring someone here was responsible for the change.
  13. How about "post-Unity Valiants"? Or if you want a specific book, Turok #1, Bloodshot #1, or H.A.R.D.Corps #1
  14. Because of the return of the grey Hulk? I don't get it... +1 Unless there is something in the book I am missing like a 1st Appearance or something this is really Not anything to chase... Jeez just grab a modern reprint of hulk #1 Synopsis for "The More Things Change"Edit SHIELD has made a new genetic bath to cure Bruce Banner by making him control the Hulk. But something goes wrong, when Rick Jones notices that General Ross is fooling with the tank. At the same time Hulk is thrown in the bath. Rick and Ross fight, but the battle ends with Rick thrown into the bath too. Suddenly the tank breaks, and the new Hulk is born. He is Gray again after all these years. REALLY ! That's it and this is a chase book? someone tell me its more than Hulk being grey again ! Isn't the Grey Hulk from #1 actually a retcon which took place after #324 though? . I dont know how Hulk #1 can possibly be a retcon? He was grey in the '62 #1 issue because of a printing ink problem. In #2 he is green, he was never intended to be grey. #324 is the first true grey hulk. As I understand it you've got it backwards. There was generally a problem with the way comics were printed at that time ensuring a consistent gray (which makes sense if the gray is composed of cyan, magenta, and yellow; the printer would get variations if there were contaminants in the ink), so with issue 2 they decided to change him to green, which was easier to keep consistent from one issue to the next. http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2006/03/02/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-40/

  16. Is the Vision character a spoiler for the Ultron movie? I'm guessing you're mistaking Baron Zemo for the Vision.
  17. Anything this close to the release is hype. Whether that transitions to long-term value is the question.
  18. Actually, it's 6.8% receive CGC 9.8 or higher (Universal grades). Has it always been 6.8%? Let's check... This graph represents Universal grades only. a = January to June, b = July to December Where do you get such wonderful graphs? He is Chartacus
  19. More silly madness. On a related note, why, why, WHY would anyone sub this?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-275-CGC-2-5-GD-Universal-CGC-1002843012-/201056774107?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2ecfeae7db W.O.W. I have a friend who slabbed the 1st comic he remembered ever getting as a kid that he managed to hold onto, some random issue of Marvel Team-Up that was pretty beat up, came back a 3.0. He just wanted to preserve it. Other than for some sentimental reason I don't get it. But watch some nut job buy it My bet is it finishes at $55.00 , any guesses It's a Buy It Now for $30.00. Believe it or not, there are 2 watchers. I'm guessing that the watchers are just curious as to whether it will actually sell.
  20. Maybe I'll give them one more call on Monday. Thank you! My books submitted at NYCC still haven't arrived yet, so your November submission (Spread variant, I'm assuming), is probably still a few weeks away. When I called on Monday they told me they're graded and waiting for encapsulation, so hopefully this week I'll have them. That's one of the comics, yes (and thank you again!) I got the same message over a week ago when I called, there seems to be a back-up at encapsulation. I guess it just depends how far back our books are in line to be slabbed... the person I talked to said hopefully I will see my books by February 1st. -slym Mine were just delivered, and I am ecstatic. (Apparently I've been undergrading my books.) Only disappointment was that the New X-Men 128 that I thought had a shot at better than a 9.8 came back "only" a 9.8.
  21. Watchmen? Granted it's more sought after at times, but it was always desirable.
