  1. He was signing at NYCC. Last year too. He was changing $30 a sign for NM 87 or 98. That, and the line, made me pass on getting my submissions SS'd.
  2. Or maybe he does, and is hoping that others don't.
  3. I bought a $200 slab from seller pavilion12010. It was shipped in a bubble mailer. No box. It survived the trip, but I wouldn't expect that to happen every time. If you buy from this seller, maybe make sure you send a message with your expectations for packing before paying.
  4. Except that's also the first appearance of J. Jonah Jameson. Which is why, of course, that issue is so valuable.
  5. The question is "Could you have predicted a movie announcement and figured that that would be the driving force behind back issue jumps?"
  6. It's time for another Dalmations. Maybe Marvel will influence Disney a bit and they'll put out a sequel: 101.1 Dalmations
  7. Does anyone know if Thor used the same machine Spider-Man did in Secret Wars 8? I do not think it was ever proven that he did or didn't. I'm currently writing a Thor one-shot about the cape and helmet he got from the same room where Spidey acquired the black costume but I would rather not waist my time if this has already been addressed. I can find no information that it has ever been discussed and it seems that some of you are big time Thor readers. I also apologize in advance for 1. "waste" not "waist" 2. I recall someone posting something to the boards regarding a single issue in continuity where this was addressed, maybe some time in the '90s.. I don't remember the series or issue though. 3. Since we all know how you feel about preview appearances, you might want to grab the Valiant 2015 Preview out this week which features some new characters, including one set to get his own series in the spring. +1 for tha grammar police. my bad, sometimes I type recklessly on the can. It looks like the answer you're looking for (http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7437596&fpart=7) is in the same thread that initially gave you the idea (http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7437596&fpart=6). That is, the idea has been addressed, but I don't know exactly what the outcome is. Maybe grab that issue of Quasar to see if it's too similar to your idea.

  9. Insofar as it's her daydreaming, it could be pretty much any version of any character.
  10. That is some poor art. Time to remind people what she looked like in her first appearance:
  11. I finally read Edge of Spider-Verse #2 this past weekend. There's no place at Queensboro Plaza where the platform is adjacent to a wall. There are tracks on either side of the platform; one for the 7, and one for the N/Q. The whole concept is ruined.
  12. Fixed ... Hey, I said "If" As in, "If a bullfrog had wings . . . " Speaking of "what if's?", wasn't there a "what if Gwen Stacy got bitten by the radioactive spider?" storyline done in the "what if?" series somewhere? I could swear I remember reading this concept somewhere once before already. But no, I do not believe this novelty character will have any real "legs" so to speak. Neither esov2 nor hvd 0 represent an actual "first appearance" of anybody regardless. Other than a neat costume there is nothing substantive about either book to sustain them long term. ASM 300 these ain't. Not by a long shot. And I really wish marvel would just let Gwen Stacy stay in the ground already. -J. With Gwen having been bit by the Spider I would say that this is an all new character, as the lives of 616 Gwen and EOSV2 Gwen diverged faitly extremely at that point
  13. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/09/18/gwen-stacy-the-new-character-find-of-2014/ I would think this attracts the sort of attention that preview issues and the like get, something that sellers are more excited about than their potential customers, since it's not the actual character but rather just a partial visual of the costume. nothing about this comic screams preview. Did you actually read what I wrote or do you just have some sort of Pavlovian response to the word "preview"? I was drawing a comparison to the importance of previews, because, much like previews, this issue does not have a story containing the new Spider-woman character. It features a visual of the costume that she wears (included, I imagine, as a gag, or perhaps as a way to drive sales of the book to people who care far too much about an inconsequential depiction of a costume). Thanks bud but my response has nothing to do with conditioning. You do not seem to be supporting the idea that the first appearance of the costume is important because, as you say, " the issue has nothing to do with Spider-woman and is for people who care far too much about an inconsequential depiction of a costume". I just cannot buy into that assumption though. To date we have no idea why those characters are there. It appears that it's cosplay but Gwen does make direct eye contact with either Hawkeye or us in that last panel. Does that matter? To date we cannot say because both she and the female Thor might be there for a reason yet to be explained. Also I just can't see Marvel sticking this in there to drive up sales either… Fine. The gag option then.

  16. This is largely why I started hunting Carol Danvers books recently. Even without the movie, down the road I think she's going to be much more important to the Marvel Universe than she is now. Basically I expect she's going to hold a position in the MU similar to Wonder Woman.
  17. According to Marvel's website CM 17 2nd print was about a month before the point one: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/50418/captain_marvel_2012_17_2nd_printing_variant/2nd_printing_variant http://marvel.com/comics/issue/49846/all-new_marvel_now_point_one_2014_1
  18. Why are you sorting by highest listed? Very misleading, like someone pulling up a chart of NFLX stock 6 months ago. Not highest listed, highest sold, and not 6 months, 90 days. The most important sales are the highest ones, not the ones that fall through the cracks or poor listings. I'd say the most important sales are the mode, or what passes for it, as anyone can get a deal or made a poor purchasing decision. If you really think the high results are what's important, then the recent sales of Turok #1 at $6 and $4.50 means that the speculators from the '90s are actually going to make money on that, and we know that that isn't going to happen. What's a "mode"? And have you ever sold books? It's a pretty common mathematical term. Thanks! (Although not at all applicable here.) Depending on what you're trying to figure, I would say it is. The most common value that a book has sold for is going to provide a good guide as to what you should expect to get for it, or pay for it. Now, if you're very patient and don't particularly care whether a book actually sells, then maybe the highest price point matters in that it provides a guide as to what someone who is not paying attention to average prices might overpay for a copy. But I imagine one would make more money (from selling more books), by referencing not only the highest price (paid by one person who now has his book), but rather the prices that people are commonly willing to pay. I'm sorry, but this is driving me crazy, divad is right The mode is not at all applicable here. If 2 books sold for 12 shekels and the other sales were 6, 16, 17, 19, 20 ,21, 22, 24, 28, 37, and 49 shekels. The most common value of 12 shekels, ie:, the mode, does not really represent what you would expect to sell at. What you are interested in is the median sale. The one that falls squarely in the middle of all other sales. In the example: 20 shekels. This reduces the effect of outliers on both the high and low sides and is a good predictor for additional sales. The reason I said "…the mode, or what passes for it…" was because I realize that exact prices are not going to be duplicated very often, so considering close prices to be the same would probably suffice. But your suggestion of the median works as well. It's certainly better than weighing the highest price more heavily than other prices paid, unless you're going to be adamant that you're not going to sell the book unless you make more than anyone else has.
  19. Newsarama got it right. Spot on. My prediction is Kamala Khan will be in the Captain Marvel movie. Eventually to become Ms. Marvel in the Inhumans movie. The movie is still four years away. I imagine they might have the major plot ideas in mind, but anything regarding setup for phase 4 probably will depend to some extend on what ends up working in the comics world over the next few years.

Assuming they had a bottomless inventory of said books. It doesn't have to be "bottomless"; you just have to have the desire to actually sell books
  21. Huh? There's only one cover for #6. My fault I thought there was a second cover for it. Maybe its just issue 1 V3. I haven't looked for a long time. Issue 2 has the limited The Good, the Bad, the Ugly cover.
  22. does anyone know the issue where peter and mjs baby was born? ASM somewhere in the 4-teens I think. http://marvel.wikia.com/Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_418 What if 105 has always been a hot issue, pulling 2-4x the issues around it. It heated up long ago and stuck. It could blow up of course, just letting you know this book always had interest. ASM vol2 # 30 has always had hype , but it has never really done anything. There have been 2 cgc 9.6 copies that sold for under $25 each this month alone. This one could blow up for sure, but im bored of hearing about it. I just read ASM 418 again could barely get through Skroce's pencils. Anyhow, Did they ever name their baby? They had a nursery and everything. I didn't see a name given in 418, MJ just kept saying " my baby". Whatever happened with the baby anyways? I know Norman Osborn took the remains, but what happened with it, I don't recall.
