  1. I do not know why people here always seem to be down on MCS. They have decent prices, a huge inventory and they pack their items better than anyone. I can't speak of the experience of others, but the one time I bought stuff from mycomicshop on eBay, the books were more expensive than what seemed to be the going rate. But whatever, one can ask whatever they want, so I decided to spend a little more to get the books in the condition I wanted and fill some holes in my collection. When they were delivered, I found that a good number of them were not in the condition described (e.g. color-breaking creases and some significant scuffing on books described as NM). Despite their stated return policy claiming "Free Return Shipping," they didn't cover the actual cost of return shipping, and actually covered less than they charge themselves. When I inquired what method of shipping they expected I use that their shipping refund would cover, they never bothered to respond. So, • Overpriced • Overgraded • Poor Customer Service What's not to love?
  2. The last two dealers who bought stuff from me asked about MK 55 in particular. What's driving the interest? No idea, but it's in demand. Perhaps there's a Rule that talks about things becoming collectible again 25 years later. Every. Single. Time. So I should hold on to those Magic cards that I've been meaning to sell since the '90s for just a few more years?
  3. One additional note: the orders appear to have caught up to demand for now. There is still a stack on the shelf at my shop. (But my shop is Midtown Times Square; I'm sure they order a ton of everything.)
  4. He was signing at NYCC. Last year too. He was changing $30 a sign for NM 87 or 98. That, and the line, made me pass on getting my submissions SS'd.
  5. Or maybe he does, and is hoping that others don't.
  6. I bought a $200 slab from seller pavilion12010. It was shipped in a bubble mailer. No box. It survived the trip, but I wouldn't expect that to happen every time. If you buy from this seller, maybe make sure you send a message with your expectations for packing before paying.
  7. Except that's also the first appearance of J. Jonah Jameson. Which is why, of course, that issue is so valuable.
  8. The question is "Could you have predicted a movie announcement and figured that that would be the driving force behind back issue jumps?"
  9. It's time for another Dalmations. Maybe Marvel will influence Disney a bit and they'll put out a sequel: 101.1 Dalmations
  10. Does anyone know if Thor used the same machine Spider-Man did in Secret Wars 8? I do not think it was ever proven that he did or didn't. I'm currently writing a Thor one-shot about the cape and helmet he got from the same room where Spidey acquired the black costume but I would rather not waist my time if this has already been addressed. I can find no information that it has ever been discussed and it seems that some of you are big time Thor readers. I also apologize in advance for 1. "waste" not "waist" 2. I recall someone posting something to the boards regarding a single issue in continuity where this was addressed, maybe some time in the '90s.. I don't remember the series or issue though. 3. Since we all know how you feel about preview appearances, you might want to grab the Valiant 2015 Preview out this week which features some new characters, including one set to get his own series in the spring. +1 for tha grammar police. my bad, sometimes I type recklessly on the can. It looks like the answer you're looking for (http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7437596&fpart=7) is in the same thread that initially gave you the idea (http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7437596&fpart=6). That is, the idea has been addressed, but I don't know exactly what the outcome is. Maybe grab that issue of Quasar to see if it's too similar to your idea.

  12. Insofar as it's her daydreaming, it could be pretty much any version of any character.
  13. That is some poor art. Time to remind people what she looked like in her first appearance:
  14. I finally read Edge of Spider-Verse #2 this past weekend. There's no place at Queensboro Plaza where the platform is adjacent to a wall. There are tracks on either side of the platform; one for the 7, and one for the N/Q. The whole concept is ruined.
  15. Fixed ... Hey, I said "If" As in, "If a bullfrog had wings . . . " Speaking of "what if's?", wasn't there a "what if Gwen Stacy got bitten by the radioactive spider?" storyline done in the "what if?" series somewhere? I could swear I remember reading this concept somewhere once before already. But no, I do not believe this novelty character will have any real "legs" so to speak. Neither esov2 nor hvd 0 represent an actual "first appearance" of anybody regardless. Other than a neat costume there is nothing substantive about either book to sustain them long term. ASM 300 these ain't. Not by a long shot. And I really wish marvel would just let Gwen Stacy stay in the ground already. -J. With Gwen having been bit by the Spider I would say that this is an all new character, as the lives of 616 Gwen and EOSV2 Gwen diverged faitly extremely at that point
  16. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/09/18/gwen-stacy-the-new-character-find-of-2014/ I would think this attracts the sort of attention that preview issues and the like get, something that sellers are more excited about than their potential customers, since it's not the actual character but rather just a partial visual of the costume. nothing about this comic screams preview. Did you actually read what I wrote or do you just have some sort of Pavlovian response to the word "preview"? I was drawing a comparison to the importance of previews, because, much like previews, this issue does not have a story containing the new Spider-woman character. It features a visual of the costume that she wears (included, I imagine, as a gag, or perhaps as a way to drive sales of the book to people who care far too much about an inconsequential depiction of a costume). Thanks bud but my response has nothing to do with conditioning. You do not seem to be supporting the idea that the first appearance of the costume is important because, as you say, " the issue has nothing to do with Spider-woman and is for people who care far too much about an inconsequential depiction of a costume". I just cannot buy into that assumption though. To date we have no idea why those characters are there. It appears that it's cosplay but Gwen does make direct eye contact with either Hawkeye or us in that last panel. Does that matter? To date we cannot say because both she and the female Thor might be there for a reason yet to be explained. Also I just can't see Marvel sticking this in there to drive up sales either… Fine. The gag option then.

  19. This is largely why I started hunting Carol Danvers books recently. Even without the movie, down the road I think she's going to be much more important to the Marvel Universe than she is now. Basically I expect she's going to hold a position in the MU similar to Wonder Woman.
  20. According to Marvel's website CM 17 2nd print was about a month before the point one: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/50418/captain_marvel_2012_17_2nd_printing_variant/2nd_printing_variant http://marvel.com/comics/issue/49846/all-new_marvel_now_point_one_2014_1
