  1. This looks like someone ripped off a Ploog cover. I don't have a specific cover in mind; just has that feel.
  2. I've got a handful of copies too. The question is whether to sell them now or send them off for grading.
  3. When I was in Paris in 2015 or so, I found a copy of the first appearance of Killmonger for super cheap in the geek quarter.
  4. Vacations are a good opportunity to look through comic book store stock you haven't looked through before.
  5. Assuming you get to the point where an editor at a publisher is agreeing to consider your novel, making a point of saying something along the lines of "I'm trying to include some diversity, but I don't have the knowledge that I would like to to write a convincing black female character, so the input of an editor would really help me to improve this" would probably go a long way.
  6. thehulk006 Bid on and won an auction. Sent me a message saying he found another copy elsewhere.
  7. I don't think they hold any actual power. I'm pretty sure they're just pre-internet Yelp.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, they're giving his son that look in the current books?
  9. Bloodshot 0 Platinum is not a true variant. It's the Gold Edition on which the gold ink wasn't printed. It's a printing error that's not obviously a printing error.
  10. This, as you know, is entirely speculative and has not been reliably established.
  11. I get that was true of the character's early history. But when you realize you need a strong time-traveling character, and Booster has more name recognition than Rip Hunter, you're going to tweak the more well-know character to fit that role.
  12. Very few variants actually appreciate in value long-term. Most don't even maintain their original sales price.
  13. I don't know if this is what your average buyer is thinking, but the big plus for any time-traveling character (DC or Marvel), is that, even with a successful cinematic universe, you're eventually going to want to do a reset so you can re-cast some of the bigger roles that actors have fulfilled their contracts on, but that you still want in movies. A good way of doing that is with a timeline reset through some sort of time travel story. I suspect that the MCU's Kang storyline is going to culminate with some of the major characters from Phase 1 being recast and brought back as alternate versions. Also, Doctor Who has become more popular than I ever thought it would when I was a geeky kid in the '80s and none of my schoolmates had ever heard of it; I wouldn't be surprised if people just like Booster just because of the time travel element.
  14. I found plenty of Larry's Comics Valiant exclusives for $3 each at NYCC this year; cheaper than cover for the regular edition.
  15. Based on Sony's track record, I am guessing that this fake synopsis of the El Meurto movie will be far more entertaining than the actual movie.
  16. Someone trying to complete a Marvel Premiere 9.8 run, and a seldom-graded book, because why would you?
  17. Bankruptcy doesn't *necessarily* mean they're going out of business. Sometimes that's a move to protect against creditors. Although it doesn't help that the printer is apparently one that is owed a big amount; that would seem to me an issue with getting new books printed.
  18. This basically just established that people assumed something (that apparently wasn't true? I'm not familiar with the character) based on value. Almost certainly those still trying to sell the book as a first appearance are either not aware of the facts, or simply want to profit, so perpetuate the misinformation.
  19. The market doesn't decide whether something is a first appearance. No amount of disparity in value is going to change the fact that Wolverine first appears on the last page of Hulk 180. The market only decides how much that brief appearance should be valued compared to the full story and first cover appearance in 181. It's really not that difficult a concept to grasp. Amazing how many people seem to be unable to do so.
  20. Let's examine that for a sec and pretend that one is going to be created. Who's on the panel? And who decides who's on the panel? It would become a big political debate and still people would continue to disagree regardless of what the panel decided.
  21. I once got a shipment from them where it was clear to me that all of the incentives had been dropped as a group together prior to packing, because they were all busted in the same corner and there was no obvious issue with the box itself. I guess they figured that I wouldn't notice. More recently I've been having issues where a shipment will come in totally unbagged.
