  1. Neither Hulk 181 nor any of its various reprints, is the first appearance of Wolverine. Same with ASM361.
  2. I'm probably old enough now to be one of those "older collectors"
  3. I think it only hurts the hobby when people think they have to buy something because it's going to be valuable, but turns out not to be. That's why I say buy what you like. Sure, tastes will change and you'll no longer be interested in holding something, but the joy of owning the item outweighs whatever feelings come from owning something because it's valuable.
  4. Bothered? If you don't like them, don't buy them. Pretty simple.
  5. I haven't read any Batman books in years. Dows HQ have a prominent primary antagonist? Could they be setting up Punchline to fill that role?
  6. The first issue is heating up, as well as the last. There was a tease of the return of the Milestone characters by one of the creators recently. Seems like the prefect time for it. I do hope that if they bring back Statis, it's with the name and look. worked better than "Static Shock" I think (even if that's the name most will remember due to the show)
  7. After that instance, I decided that I should. The only problem with that is that recently there's been a line for the window, so it's easier to drop stuff in the chute. But for pricey books I think it'll be worth it to get the receipt.
  8. One of the book that I sold recently (a double cover Avengers 294) was dropped off at the post office, and, as with other packages once they're secure at the post office, was forgotten about. A few days later I got a message from the buyer asking when I would be shipping it. I checked the tracking, and sure enough, there was no record of it having been received (even though I handed it to a post office employee at the window. Eventually it did get to the buyer, and then all of the tracking info popped up, but for a few days I thought it had been discarded somewhere. Granted that it was only about 5 days, not 2 weeks, but maybe give it a little time.
  9. I'll be very pleased if Atomahawk takes off, as I have a rare error copy.
  10. I know it's not Modern (but then neither are the other Aliens and Predator books being discussed), but any thoughts on the significance of Uncanny X-Men #155, the first appearance of the Brood, which were basically an Aliens rip-off? Aliens/X-Men might be a cool crossover.
  11. There is an entire thread regarding books that were direct-only with a UPC.
  12. My general take on something like this is that a cover appearance on a comic (rather than a new magazine about comics) is Creative content (whereas a cover of a magazine like Wizard or Marvel Age is Editorial or Marketing content), and therefore is generally going to count as a first appearance and be the desired book, regardless of whether the character appears in the story. But that means you're going to have another key book, where the character first appears in the story. For example, Kamala Khan's first appearance as Ms Marvel is desired both on the second print of Captain Marvel 17 and in Marvel Now Point 1. Gwenpool isn't at all related to the story in the comic that she first appeared on the cover of, and that was the hot book.
  13. Here's a fun fact about Bowie, conveyed to me by someone who's worked for the Henson company. During the filming of Labyrinth, Bowie refused to wear the codpiece that the costume department made for his outfit. And in some shots focused on the children, whom he was standing next to, that's apparently quite obvious. You're welcome.
  14. This is nuts: https://www.ebay.com/itm/EDGE-OF-SPIDER-VERSE-2-1st-App-Spider-Gwen-Spider-Woman-1st-Printing-CGC-NM-MT-/283923734915?hash=item421b2c6183%3Ag%3A51kAAOSwmFle8UBM&nma=true&si=sYFZpAP8jgg2HhKdrZ3u8RpT1os%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  15. Considering the misogyny I've noticed in comics fandom, it's not always obvious.
  16. Yeah, I sold off my GOTG #1 CGC 9.6 for a decent amount. Hopefully when we get closer to a third movie releasing there will be another spike
  17. If the charges are legit, I'd hardly say that Ron is the one that's worthy of sympathy.
  18. True. Had that particular issue been selling for a premium?
  19. Any thoughts on why Annihilation: Conquest Star-Lord #1 doesn't go for more? It's the first Groot in continuity, which is the one that popularized Groot. I would think that would be a sound alternative to Tales to Astonish.
