  1. One day science will make it possible for every book to be returned to its original pristine condition. We will all own perfect copies of every book. And all our collections will then be rendered worthless. And it will be the end of the world. All the books I love have writing on them, so I am already screwed. Just get a box cutter and slice aound the sigs. Problem solved You are super smart. S-M-R-T

  3. Is it possible for that to happen after slabbing?
  4. I'm pretty sure I will see CAK this weekend at a local con. Anyone need any messages relayed?
  5. Yeah...it's his third strike within 9 months. He should be out for three weeks. Am I reading this right? Did he get two strikes on the same day? No. That was just a reply in that thread.
  6. Yeah...it's his third strike within 9 months. He should be out for three weeks. How'd you get that to show up like that? I can't ever figure out how to find old posts in that forum area... At the bottom of the page go to display options. For some reason it seems to default to posts within one month.
  7. To me the scariest part is the post office messing with the packaging and not so much the extra postage. You know it isn't going to packed back up the same way.
  8. Ya, I sent a PM. The price seemed to good, but someone bit before I did. If it's legit, it's a great deal. Given his last thread and the obviousness of his deception there, you have a better chance of this this place being legit: Before this sale is legit.
  9. Save the good ones for me. Of course I can't actually afford the good ones. Nevermind.
  10. 7.5 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I planted over five hundred dollars worth of trees and shrubberies, including a Japanese Butterfly Maple tree, this Spring in what turned out to be the worst drought in my lifetime. Is there a way we can work this data into the argument? I leave it to the boards whether or not it helps or hurts CAK. Shrubbery you say?
  12. Improper....in violation of USPS Rules and Regulations, a Federal Entity. . The governing document of the USPS is the Domestic Mail Manual. According to the DMM, comics aren't excluded. Advertising is excluded. Expired advertising is no longer advertising; it is reference material. If I can't buy 7 giant dinosaurs for $1.00 from "Dept B3511" in NY, then there's nothing being advertised, and it's no longer an ad. And the point and spirit of the restriction is clear: "Periodicals" is a special class of mail, with its own rates and programs. Here's the definition: "The Periodicals class of mail is designed for newspapers, magazines, and other periodical publications whose primary purpose is transmitting information to an established list of subscribers or requesters. Periodicals must be published at regular intervals, at least four times a year from a known office of publication, and be formed of printed sheets. There are specific standards for circulation, record keeping, and advertising limits." That function was fulfilled when the books were originally sent out to subscribers...that is, new comics, created and sent by the publisher of that material. And since periodicals are (generally) paid for with advertising, that's part of the reason why they have their own separate category. But people who ship back issues, one to another, are not fulfilling the role of the publisher, and sending out "periodicals" (that is, appearing on a regular interval) to "subscribers or requesters." They have become second-hand, used material...and that's precisely what used to be 4th class, then book rate, now Media Mail, was made for. "But, some of those ads are still valid!" Fine, some of them are. But the vast majority are not, and weren't intended to last indefinitely. And if the ad is expired, and is no longer advertising anything (even for products that may still exist), it's no longer an ad...it's reference material. Yes, I'm well aware that someone at the USPS put a "comics are excluded" note on the website. The website doesn't determine the regulations and procedures of the USPS. The DMM does. And if it's not in the DMM, it has no regulatory weight. If gov't can work AGAINST us, gov't can certainly be made to work FOR us. I would love to see the expressions on my local postal employees when you started explaining the spirit of the rule to them. Yep. And then demanding no upcharge in shipping. I'm sure that would be a hoot.
  13. That doesn't mean a whole lot when the post office opens up your media mail package with comics in it and charges more for postage.
  14. Even if both parties agree to use media mail it needs to be spelled out what the risk is. Is it just the potential for increased postage or also damage?
  15. Anal and spooning you say? I remember when Michonne did that to the Governor in issue #33. I may have to read the comics.
  16. That's actually threadcrapping. I agree. Yep. Just keep your mouth shut if you don't like someone's prices.
  17. If someone is giving misleading information in a sales thread I would think a PM first would be the way to go. And if it goes uncorrected after that then in the thread.
  18. People interfering with a deal is never right. You know if someone did that to you you'd have a problem with it. Honorable sellers are wonderful things and to be treasured. Whiny man-babies who try to fudge up your deal, because their mommy said they were special so they should get all the deals, aren't and it's ok to call someone out on behavior that could have a negative impact on a deal. That's true whether they meant to mess up the deal or are just too inept socially to not stick their nose into a deal. And you're smart enough to know the difference between a global "congrats" and "oh man, that was so under-priced" type comments. I'm smart enough to not try and determine a person's intent without asking them. (thumbs u Hopefully smart enough that asking a person their intent is only accurate if they are honest. Actions lie far less than words. The quickest way to make someone dishonest is to treat them as if they are. Did you have Chinese food last night?
