  1. There are these things they sell that you might be interested in. They look nicer than using a drinking glass. Amazon: Desktop Business Card Holders Those are my overflow from people that hand them to me. I thought it was to offer a free lunch? We've got a big fish bowl in the front....."Enter to Win 1 FREE appeal!" I bet there is some fine print attached to that free appeal.
  2. I wouldn't think so. If you have pictures and know there are no returns why should the seller have to accept a return? And if you don't have pictures and buy with no returns, well that was probably a poor choice from the buyer. Part of the problem is a certain assumption that pics/scans are self explanatory, when they are not. Pics mean nothing without at least a numerical grade or some sort of good faith disclosure of hidden defects. No returns as a policy puts the pressure hard on full disclosure. If you show me a book that looks like a glossy VF and say "great copy!" and it turns out the cover is detached, I'm not going to care if there was a no returns policy, I'm going to want satisfaction for a misrepresentation of the product. I guess it would depend on why it was over graded. Something like a detached cover could be argued that it was damaged in shipping and you did not receive the book you bought. Or if some pages were missing. I was thinking more along the lines of anyone being able to return a book for any reason (maybe they just changed their mind) and use grading as the reason.

  4. I have no clue what compels some people to make posts. They just can't control themselves.
  5. The buyer has to take some responsibility. Taking a high dollar book with no pictures and no return doesn't seem like the smartest thing in the world if you don't 100% know and trust the seller.
  6. In short: Put at least as much effort into taking our money as we put into making it. Not a big fan of forcing pics. I have a current sales thread with no pics and doing just fine. I understand that some buyers may not even look at the sales thread if there are no pics. Should be my option. Everybody likes options. I sell graded moderns for the most part. There is very little to be learned by posting pics most of the time. Well...you're selling slabs as you said. The thread we're discussing featured early SA raw Marvels. Pics should be mandatory on raws with this type of price tag....with no return policy. Of course if you're selling signed modern slabs pics are an absolute must as everyone's seen how varied signature size, placement, and color can impact how a book presents, even in the same grade. No pics and no return policy is kind of like natural selection. Eventually the problem will fix itself.
  7. That is a good point and why someone posting a $10,000 book should have scans in the first place.
  8. I'm not sure what is worse. Not following through with your commitment or that fact that you did it to save $2.
  9. Anyone who buys with no pictures and a no return policy deserve whatever they get.
  10. Thanks Oak. Other than my grail purchase that I'm kind of sort of working on, I think I'm going to concentrate just on Frazetta covers for the time being. I just purchased a very nice Vamp 31 on the boards. Real Elijah Snow had a pretty amazing sales thread. Pretty well picked over now, but still some nice stuff.
  11. Yes I am bored. Thought I would take pictures of my meager magazine collection. I mainly collect Frazetta covers, but you can see I have some others as well. Right now I'm trying to focus on acquiring key issues. I'm using the key magazine thread in this forum as a rough guide. Hopefully I'll be updating this thread regularly as I get more. And if threads like this are against the rules apologies in advance. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7961351#Post7961351
  12. Yes you did and so I made the changes accordingly and moved on. Didn't feel it was necessary to reply to your pm. Apparently, my sales threads are gone, so problem solved. I'm pretty sure even if they don't delete your threads you aren't going to be selling very much.
  13. That was a very polite way of going with option 2. No, it meant I was on the phone and couldn't type. Chris just missed it, I have done that many times myself. Just busting balls.
  14. I can see being lazy for a small sale. But not when someone is asking for a couple thousand dollars. Seems counterproductive.
  15. I wonder if we'll ever hear from rip67vdub or will he just fade away.
  16. Well, at least he left it open ended. We don't know what he's "The Best" at. I can't get this song out of my head now. This should help.
  17. You don't think it's important for people to know that the person they are donating money to has taken money from boardies, in some cases years ago, and have not provided what was promised? I don't think we need to deify the party being donated to, reality works just fine. If they have shortcomings, and owe people, then that's part of the story that needs to be told. No sense in hiding facts in order to raise the final tally. Full disclosure to people throwing money at someone doesn't feel like thread-crapping...at all. That's the type of context that anyone donating should want to have given the enormity of the latitude the person being donated to has been given. Something that would have had almost anyone else on one or more "lists". There are folks that are out significant money, and plenty of folks that have supported this same person for several years in that mix, and it's appropriate to have the full measure of reality injected into that conversation as it seems their loss is being muted. Not sure how the two things go hand in hand. I can definitely understand the people who have been waiting for 3 years for art to not donate since they may feel like they have given Matt more then enough. But mentioning he owes art to people in a charity thread doesn't seem to make much sense unless you think he has misused the money previously given him which should be pointed out if you have proof. Having people like myself donate some money to Matt should in no way stop Matt from living up to his promises and will hopefully help him get the art to people who have paid for it. I don't know anyone involved, but if someone paid for something three years ago and hasn't received anything I don't know what definition of "misused" you are using.
  18. You would think someone trying to sell his own books here would have a little more common sense. Nominate him for the PL.
  19. After taking so long to get my first Vamp 1 I acquired another. Found this on Craigslist and couldn't resist for the price.
