Maybe I'm not understanding, but a seller can certainly give a return whenever they want. If they want to give one ten years later it doesn't matter what rules are in place.

+1 Or find one of those postal kiosks that are run out of another business? I go to a USPS counter at the back of mobile pager store about 2 blocks from my house, much better experience than going to the actual post office. This is what I usually do as well. They offer fed ex, usps and ups at one counter. And they are nice.

I can understand maybe leaving no feedback for something like that, but why leave positive? Did you really have a positive experience?

I certainly don't dabble in higher end books, but from everything i have seen in the selling forum I would assume known resto would be disclosed and if no mention is made the seller doesn't know it has happened.

Wouldn't it be more fair to establish a time limit up front? Things left to a "case by case" basis seem to have much more chance of bias.

I definitely think some kind of time frame should be added to the rules. Of course a seller can always give a refund for longer periods of time if they want to.

I would be very curious what explains away lying to someone repeatedly. Can't think of any myself. He assures me it is all true. I told him that putting a check in a box without telling someone is a block-headed move, but that even I make block-headed mistakes. But saying you're going to do something and not, repeatedly is where I draw the line. We'll see what happens Monday. So the times he said he was going to send paypal and didn't? Does the story involve alien abductions? Is there a reason he isn't sending the money today? You are way more forgiving than I would be. But maybe that's a good thing.

I am in no way saying this happened. But it made me think of an odd scenario. Someone could buy a book and say it came back with resto from CGC. They could have had that all along and claim it was the book they bought here. Has there ever been shenanigans like that here that anyone knows of? Again, I am in no way trying to imply that happened in this case.

Might not be a bad thing to bring up though. Let the buyer know that since someone signed for it and it wasn't him you will be contacting the authorities. Possible it might work. Can you get a picture of the signature from the post office?
