  1. You'll make it. Just get yourself CGC'ed. We can crack you open in a few decades.
  2. Agreed. This is what I was referencing as the item in question is a variant. As for the "solid keys", I also concur. I know the rare variants I own will sell once the market corrects itself, but the old mainstays (ie. ASM #129, IH #181. GSX #1 etc.) are my retirement fund.
  3. True. I can't argue with this one. I'm just disappointed that the film didn't do anything for a certain villain's first appearance.
  4. With 189 sold and 0 remaining on just one listing, I'd say quite a few. Potential investors need to be aware that the market is very slow at present, and given that the US economy is likely to worsen this year, they may be holding onto CGC'ed 9.8's for a while.
  5. Perhaps...but that doesn't excuse the way he treated people.
  6. Oh, I've done the research. I know he had feet of clay. I know most of his writing was atrocious. That said, many other people co-collaborated to make Marvel what it was and leave many of us with happy childhood memories.
  7. Suggest it to CGC. You can have that one for free.
  8. I've been told this several times, and read interviews with the greats who say as much. Stan Lee was all about Stan Lee, and couldn't stand the fact that some truly great writers came later and produced stories that trumped anything he ever did (eg. Starlin). Lee excelled at self-promotion, which is why he was such a huge part of popular culture. His ethics and integrity, however, were another matter...
  9. Labels that feature the many costume changes of characters such as Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.
  10. Hmmm...as a boy I had hundreds. These days I have about 23 slabbed 9.8's in a filing cabinet, which are purely for investment purposes. Anything I wish to read from the old days I just look at online for free.
  11. The ultra-rare variant, and a true gem for any collector. Asking price is 10K + 85 for packaging/shipping. Paypal only. No returns. First wins, or alternatively send a PM.
  12. I saw the one you are referring to. Agreed. Nothing special there!
  13. Yes...but the act is more likely to come from a younger person, hence the owner's shock.
  14. Ebay is better still. Almost always guaranteed to get a 9.8.
  15. A true gem. $3K + 85 for packaging/shipping. Paypal only. First posted wins. Happy to field questions via PM.
  16. Never mind the cup. How much for the cat? It appears to be a rare variant in 9.8...
  17. One glaring error: By his own admission, the Silver Surfer has Super-Heavyweight strength as he is fuelled by the Power Cosmic. Other errors: Spider-Man and Ghost Rider do not belong in the Super-Mediumweights as far weaker, but paradoxically are stronger than the other Mediumweights. The Black Panther and Captain America are considerably stronger than the other "Lightweights".
  18. Here's the first Strength Chart from 1964. Namor should have also been included.
  19. Why not? Heat produces energy, which in this case is happening alongside velocity which starts at a staggering 9.8 metres per second. Should we organize a seminar on atmospheric physics and thermodynamics? Is there a NASA staffer on the boards?
  20. We could devote an entire thread to covers that make no sense...
  21. People might if there was a solid gold variant, that was delivered to your house via armoured car. I own a metal version of XO Manowar #1, so it isn't outside the realms of possibility...
