  1. I agree completely. The classic Adams' covers have a timeless aesthetic. The fact that the last 9.8 sold for $42K is also very telling. The issue is highly sought after and is perceived as a solid investment.
  2. There seems to be some interest in the Death of Superman foil set (particularly the Blue version). A good set to buy now and hold onto for the long term.
  3. Well, the sales figures indicate that those copies that do become available are red-hot as in demand. There are several other versions of issues that while not appearing every week, sell for high prices when they do materialize (although perhaps not at present in the depressed market).
  4. Agreed. While there was a print run of at least 10,000, this item has held both value and interest - https://recalledcomics.com/Superman75Platinum.php#:~:text=The Platinum editions are not,%24600 (circa Summer 2014). Signed copies come with a much higher value - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175702404265?hash=item28e8adeca9:g:OEcAAOSwvoBkSBIx&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0Izchm%2F6842b%2BK9ujLUU%2BkV08IqH8UP4TObJToaxNyT0XHmTBsT2y7OnHe1rQucIHLCQxSA1%2B3xbvdpTyo8OHAe6lBy6wnfSxkE4%2FRNxmOf8fV2n4ShL3FkC7P8JXAAdwgpMl1U%2B%2B390exEb0hnpyIZo3CHx7gACn4cgCnSarEZBoOJJt0mjEV%2FqvG432Bp%2BcTxSTOKQIMQtcKhKCtPVLuMU3UR79Qk0DYSAq%2BQsh5gjVY1H5rrJF5sBlCxkLgZkAJCDOznMMLMMW7crMb6%2BmaA%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_KRlbuoYg If you have the $$$ and can wait, you can't go wrong with a signed 9.8.
  5. I agree. There is no one comprehensive body that is all-encompassing. I remember all the discussion and furore from many years ago regarding Valiant titles, and the scarcity of certain regular issues. The variants further complicated matters. To this day no one has exact numbers on the print runs, and even reputable sites like Recalled Comics admit there is a degree of speculation. By the by, should this discussion have its own thread?
  6. I think the entirety of 2023 is going to be Crazytown.
  7. Agreed. I said this a few months ago. I have a number of items that have been sitting on Ebay for months. Fortunately I'm able to " stay in harbour" until the storm passes. That said, I suspect said storm won't clear up until 2024.
  8. I think a great many gems are going to be forcibly removed from collections this year. Times are tough for many.
  9. Hmmm...thank you. That could have been clearer.
  10. Does anyone know about this? Stupidity? Gameplaying?
  11. Who said it "bugs" me? Just an observation. (PS. - hilarious when people post the Confused icon when things are crystal clear).
  12. It does. An upcoming limited edition issue (25 copies) will feature a revamped Journey Into Mystery foe from the 60s, and sport a metal cover displaying Mjolnir. Only those readers deemed worthy will be able to turn the pages.
  13. The 98 run was great. The Dark Gods saga, the Enchanters Three, the war against Thanos and then the Reigning.
  14. Bingo. That's why if I sell on Ebay, I price high to factor these things in. If someone really wants it, then they have to pay, as I'm not running a charity.
  15. Is that you or the cat asking? 25 years is a long time for a feline to wait (even for Miracle Cat).
  16. Long term speculation? The Bronze Age Trinity (ASM #129, IH #181, GSX #1) in 9.8 W are my retirement fund, with various other gems (SS Vol. 1 #4) and other trinkets (rare variants) thrown in.
  17. Try Recalled Comics - Saved from the great pulping machine! Recalled comics https://recalledcomics.com A good site that lists scarce reprints that are valuable (ie. Hulk #377).
  18. Very really. There are a few FF stories that are good, but many were verbose and quite repetitive. Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense introduced many classic villains, but were in the main atrocious (check out all the anti-Communism stories and Giant - Man efforts) And so on. We'll never know the extent of the contribution of others, but I suspect in some cases it was more than 50%. I think Lee thought in broad terms, and it fell to others to refine the vision.
