  1. I think I'm free so I'll start the last act on this thread, I'll try to drag out a little something for everybody. The Shadow, The Romanoff Jewels #9 in the series by Maxwell Grant Pyramid N3877 October 1975 $40 SOLD @40% off to ghostzapper Another smokin' Steranko cover Another square, glossy, near perfect copy that you're not likely to improve on.
  2. N e r V got the Ellison book. The other two are yours. Jailbait is at 30% off. Great deal I apologize for not cleaning that area of the thread up!
  3. I almost forgot - you guys have made this a pretty epic vintage pb thread so take 30% off any book on the recap page on page 14 - feel free to make offers etc. - there's some very cool books left on there!
  4. Last one for this morning as I have some sunday errands to run but I'll wrap it up tonight with a mixed bag of goodies Coffin For A Hood by Lionel White Gold Medal 775 PBO 1st Printing June 1958 $20 SOLD to Norrin's Lawyer Killer Darcy (Ernest Chiriaka) headlights cover art to one of my favorite crime authors PBO. He's got a .45 but her .38's are spectacular as they say. A book that is far more than it's cover. White writes great crime capers that keep the pages turning. Hard to grade. Has Very Fine, unread qualities but has some page edge fading and bending to the book from storage as shown. Covers are bright and glossy, smooth and uncreased.
  5. The Land Of Terror by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 46997 January 1973 $8 SOLD to N e r V Killer Croc cover art by Frank Frazetta. First print of the "Tall" Ace edition. Looks Very Fine but has a couple harsh pulls and flecking on the back so I'll throw it out there to see if anyone wants a bargain copy that looks great from the front.
  6. The Girl From Hollywood by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 28911, January 1977 $15 The First paperback edition with a striking Boris Good Girl cover. This one got lost in the sauce I think, a while back. Very Fine. Super glossy, appears bright and unread. No creasing and shows virtually no wear. Pages off white. A superior copy in every way.
  7. House of Flesh by Bruno Fischer Gold Medal 123 PBO 1950 $25 SOLD to mstrange Fischer's breakthrough Horror/Mystery novel. Killer cover art is uncredited although I suspect it's by MAM painter John Floherty. An early example of the "Gothic Mystery" signature look. I ain't messing with Lela or her dog! From the High Grade collection. Very Fine Minus. Square glossy and new looking with great, intact lamination. A bit of edgewear here and there and a very slight uneven-ness of the pages.
  8. Web of Flesh by Mal Chance. Midwood F204 PBO 1962 $30 SOLD to N e r V Wicked Good Girl cover by Robert Schulz. He was the highest paid pb painter at one point, working for all the highest paying publishers and I'd never seen him do a sleaze cover but I guess by 1962 when photo covers and GIANT FONT covers were pushing all the painters out of the business, he did what he had to pay the bills Very Fine. Just a sharp sharp copy. Square and tight with great colors and gloss. Tiny bend at lower right corner is about all to note on the covers. Nice page quality too. A sizzler.
  9. Well, this lady is available ... for a price Valerie by Jordan Park (Sci Fi writer Cyril M. Kornbluth) Lion Books 176 PBO 1953 $50 SOLD @30% off to mstrange Another tough Lion title to find in nice shape and sporting one of my favorite Bob Maguire covers. From the High Grade collection Fine Plus. Square and tight, sharp corners, has some age wear, very little handling wear to speak of. Some crackling of the cover gloss and a bit of rubbing to the edges near the spine. Thumb bend with a small fleck on the back edge.
  10. Every artist has their strong and their weak days. For all the incredible slim babes McGinnis painted, he also painted this hag, who I didn't have the chutzpah to list for sale. I may throw her on someone's pile just to get her out of my house CLAIMED by crassus
  11. Picked up another small stack of Harlequins. Everything about them, from the tiny Harlequin colophon to the edgily different cover art from US Editions, is cool False Face is
  12. There's been a LOT of passing of the Title Belt during this round. I'm proud just to ring the bell on the round changes
  13. If I can beat my old lady (to waking up ) I plan to get a few in in the morning then get it going in the afternoon (EST - I'm starting to get used to think about what time it is for the West Coast folks!)
  14. That's going to be it for tonight. I have a few things to do tonight but will try to make an interesting wrap-up tomorrow
  15. The Land Of Terror by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace F-256 1st PB, 1st Print. January 1964 $40 SOLD to mstrange Incredible Lost World flood cover by Frank Frazetta. One of my favorites. The first copy of this 1st I've had to offer. Very Fine almost VF/NM. Unread with great color and gloss. Razor sharp corners. No wear. Has a super light pressure mark on the cover and a color fleck on lower right corner. Nice page quality. Looks like it was on the rack 59 years ago. Well worth a premium.
  16. Darker Than You Think by Jack Williamson Berkley Medallion X1751 1st PB 1st Print $35 SOLD to N e r V My choice for favorite Williamson novel and high at the top of Jeff Jones best SciFi/fantasy covers imho. A double knockout. A bear to find in nice shape. Fine Plus/Very Fine minus. A great square copy with super gloss and coloring. Has a couple of color flecks off the corners and a small fold at bottom back cover. Great page quality. Tough black cover doesn't get much better.
  17. Great take. That is a tough book to find looking like that. The High Grade Collection had a hell of a lot of highlights!
  18. Morocco Episode by William P. Brothers Hillman Books No. 111 1959 $40 SOLD to mstrange Awesome Robert Maguire GGA cover in high grade. Hillman's are pretty obscure and hard to find in high grade. This one is from the High Grade collection. Very Fine Minus. Square and tight. Super glossy with great color and sharp edges. Has slight wear to the rear spine edge and a neat name stamp inside the front cover. A beautiful copy
