  1. Ace D-449 GORDON R. DICKSON The Genetic General. Cover by Ed Valigursky; 1960 FirstBook Edition. D-449b GORDON R. DICKSON Time to Teleport. Cover by Emsh. 1960 $9 Tough to grade, has great un-read looking eye appeal but pages are quite toned and have some uneven-ness. I'll call it Very Good. Spine has bindery type chips and light wear. Covers bright and glossy with light edgewear. Solid tight binding, pages toned but still tight and . An attractive looking copy.
  2. It Was The Day Of The Robot by Frank Belknap Long Belmont Books 90-277 First Edition PBO 1963 $25 SOLD at 20% off to goldust40 The Koontz book I listed was near perfect but this gem from 1963 I'd call structurally perfect, which is amazing for a black cover book. A First Edition of a Lovecraft circle author as well. Classic Robot cover art is un-credited but super cool. Very Fine/Near Mint. Another one like the Avon I listed that I'll use a grade I never do. Covers bright and glossy, obviously unread and stored perfectly for 60 years. Great page quality. Light toning to interior. I'm proud to have unearthed this book, well worth a premium.
  3. A Darkness In My Soul by Dean R. Koontz DAW Books No. 12 First Edition PBO 1972 $20 A near perfect copy of an early Koontz Paperback Original. Cover art by Jack Gaughan. Tough to find early DAW books in this shape. A real find for any Koontz collector. Very Fine minus. Spine is square and uncreased, has tiny bindery chip at top. Covers bright and glossy, obviously unread with only a trace of a bend along the spine. Trace of edgewear on the tips. Great page quality. Unlikely that a better copy could be had.
  4. Dr. Bloodmoney Or How We Got Along After The Bomb by Philip K. D*i*c*k Ace F-337 First Book Edition 1965 $25 SOLD to Tupenny Conan Cover art by Jack Gaughan A first edition paperback that is getting pretty scarce. Calling this one Very Good. A very square and new looking copy but has crease down front and back covers that barely breaks color. Otherwise cover glossy with light bends and edgewear. Solid tight binding, pages tight and supple with only light toning.

  11. The Outlaw Of Torn by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 64510 Published in 1973 $18 SOLD to mstrange Ace never printed a "Short" edition of this title, they were all "Tall" Ace editions. This one is Frazetta's first cover for this title, the previous two Ace covers being by Krenkel. Fine/Very Fine. Appears unread or very lightly read. Square solid spine has a hairline crease. Very light wear to upper right corner. Mild toning to the interiors. A really nice copy with full gloss.
  12. Hollywood Bedside Reader John O'Hara, James T. Farrell et al. Avon Books No. 338 Published in 1951 $35 SOLD at 20% off to goldust40 A sick copy of this amazing Good Girl art cover PB by Robert Crowl. I love her. Very Fine/Near Mint. A grade I pretty much never give since VF is my highest but occasionally they come around. Blinding gloss, Perfect lamination, Bright, square and tight. Pages are off white with almost no toning. Highly unusual page quality. It doesn't get any better than this.
  13. Give 'Em The Ax by A.A. Fair (Erle Stanley Gardner) Dell No. 389 Published in 1950. $12 SOLD to OtherEric A really nice Leg Art cover on this Bertha Cool and Donald Lam mystery. Very Good/Very Good plus. Solid square and tight. Pages supple and creamy. Super glossy. Readers crease and front spine edge wear are the only things keeping this from a higher grade. The Map Back on the cover is unmarred. A nice copy of a 73 year old, cool cover Dell.
  14. Death In The Library by Philip Ketchum Dell Books No. 1 A key first issue. $60 Sold @20% off to GreatCaesarsGhost William Strohmer's clever and bloody Art Deco cover art scheme started it all for the Dell Books line in 1943. One of the most iconic books in the hobby as it launched a decades long history of mystery publishing, later with maps on the back, that are highly collected. The first several dozen numbers had the extra large "eyeball in a keyhole" that is probably my favorite vintage PB colophon. Very Good Minus/Very Good. Solid square and tight, has some light creasing on the front and a bit heavier on the back with a small hole. Rare in any condition and this is quite high grade for the title. My keeper is not much better and I've been looking for years.
  15. If He Hollers Let Him Go by Chester Himes Signet 756 from 1949 $40 SOLD @20% off to Outerboroguy The first paperback edition of Himes' first book with the classic and fantastic cover art of James Avati. A searing race novel from before he created the legendary Noir Detective duo of Coffin Ed and Gravedigger Jones. Fine. Super glossy and new looking. Solid spine has slight slant but pages are tight and supple with the usual toning. Lamination is in great shape with only slight lifting. Very high grade for this tough title.
  16. The Mad King by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 51402 $12 SOLD to dover The first of the "Tall" Ace editions. A dynamic Frazetta cover for sure. Fine/Very Fine. Appears unread or very lightly read. Square solid spine has a hairline crease. Very light wear. Mild toning to the interiors. A very pretty 50 year old book.
  17. Tanar Of Pellucidar by Edgar Rice Burroughs Ace 79792 $8 SOLD to dover The first of the "Tall" Ace editions. Frazetta's cover here is so moody. Fine Plus. Appears lightly read. Square solid spine has a hairline crease. A couple of finger bends and very light wear. Small, neat stamp on first page. Has the usual toning to the interiors. A nice looking 50 year old book.
  18. Back To The Stone Age by Edgar Rice Burroughs ace 04632 $15 SOLD to dover The first of the "Tall" Ace editions. I like these better than the 1st PB shorts, just for the sheer real estate Frazetta's gorgeous covers get. I try to get both for my collection. Very Fine. Unread glossy, square, uncreased, you name it... Structurally as close to perfect as it gets. Has mild toning to the interiors but looks pretty much like it did on the rack in 1973.
  19. Taffy by Philip B. Kaye Avon 377 1951 $25 Another awesome Raymond Johnson Good Girl cover. This one of some Harlem gang girls for Kaye's JD classic. What I call a "fridge magnet book" because it's so well known in pop culture circles it appears on fridge magnets and other knick knacks. VG/VG Plus Glossy and never read. Has some laminate peeling on the spine, neat name stamp on inside cover and page edge. Interiors toning as usual but virtually no creasing or edgewear.
  20. I'm going to clean the thread up a little and take a dinner break and will be back a bit later with another bunch. Thanks to all the takers It's fun sharing treasure with you guys!
  21. The Autumn People by Ray Bradbury Ballantine U2141 1965 $50 SOLD @20% off to mrlatko A gorgeous copy of one of Frazetta's best PB covers and a great collection of Bradbury EC comic book stories. Part of the set of the first attempt to resurrect the EC stories by Ballantine. Fine/VF. Front cover is VF, the line you see by the spine is the printers indent where the cover is meant to be turned. Back cover has a light bend at bottom and a couple lines. Spine is square and uncreased, has a couple of light stress lines. Great page quality. Amazing looking in hand. With the dark covers, this one just doesn't come around like this.
  22. Love Addict by Don Elliott (Robert Silverberg) NIghtstand Books NB1501 R 1959. $75 One of the top sleaze books and I'll probably regret selling it. Robert Silverberg's notorious foray into sleaze writing before he became a Science Fiction Superstar. Add that it's a classic Harold W. McCauley cover of the girl sticking a needle in her leg and you get a must have vintage PB for collectors of Drug/JD and science fiction alike. Very hard to find in any edition or condition. I believe this is the second printing. Very Good. Solid tight binding, pages nice and supple. Cover rubbing and edgewear. A sweet copy of a classic vintage paperback.
  23. The Weird Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft Bart House #4 1945 $60 SOLD to TupennyConan One of the hobby's great classic covers. Lovecraft's first mass market paperback and becoming very hard to find in nice condition. They invariably show up beaten and color faded. Also contains The Whisperer In the Darkness, The Outsider, He, and The Festival. A must have for any vintage PB collection. Very Good. Solid tight binding, pages tight and supple. Incredible page quality, bright white and the interior covers are bright white as well. Spine sunned as usual, otherwise strong colors. A scrape on the back and general edgewear keeps it from higher grades. Overall a very nice copy of a classic cover vintage paperback.
